  1. Ashe

    Summoners

If you're going to be calling yourself a summoner though and not doing allagan summoning then you are not a summoner...you're just a mage summoning something. Probably a black mage...or white mage if it's elemental based.
  2. Ashe

    Summoners

There are no types of summoners. The title "Summoner" is specific to the Allagan mages who summoned Primal Egis. These primal egis can only be of primals that you were in the presence of when they died (So you kinda had to be the one who killed it). That's it. Arcane summoning is a bit different. They are not summoners. They are Arcanists and use carbuncles and poison geometries and other geometries for their magic. Scholars also "summon" something but they are scholars who have faerie familiars that follow them around to heal and support...it's Nymian magic stuff. To call yourself a summoner in the world of FFXIV/Eorzea...it's the Allagan art of using geometries to summon primal egis. Even if another job/class uses a book, they are not summoners.
  3. Hmmm, depends on the RPer and their style of RP. If someone is a powerful mage or a famous warrior who is "like an ox on the battlefield" or some bs...then that's fine....but when someone who is maxed out OOCly with all their jobs tries to tell me that they are ICly all of those jobs AND MORE I'm like...."Okay, good luck with your life." ..... I would think there are people who would think Ashe is OP...but I've had him felled by plenty of people >> I don't think he's won any fights against anyone he's fought actually >> ICly he uses black mage to make up for the fact he's a shitty mage at risk of ....and can use ninjutsu skills because that is what he actually had proper training in. ....A lot of people assume that he is straight up a mage because it's....funny xPP ......... I guess the long story short is be sensible? If you are ICly the character you run the MSQ with and have defeated Titan a bajillion times then Imma question your life decisions....but if you are like....a reasonable person >> whatever.
  4. Hmmmm....In general I am not too keen on WoL RP and people who RP as though they did the MSQ. The Summoner summoning the PRIMAL horses (they are not elemental horses) is impossible...like actually just impossible. They do not exist within the lore as a real thing. It's not really godmodding as it's more...impossible to begin with.
  5. Just want to say: Doma is in Othard. >_>; It is. But Othard...like the steppes and then Doma the city might as well be two different places if you're gonna base your character there. EDIT: Just gonna say...lore wise, I'm with you up until the ponies. Then it's not exactly reasonable. Lore wise, continued, summoners summon primal egis and can do so because they were there when a primal died (usually involves you felling a primal...condensed version). Anywhooooo...anything outside of that is really just lore bending. The primal ponies are not the essence of the primals. they aren't even canon
  6. Well...Raen don't have tribes...the Raen in Doma are from Doma, not Othard so there is no Raen tribe names... Those "elemental horses" you see are from Primal gods...so unless you RP the warrior of light who fights primals...it may not work >> Lastly, I've seen plenty of people who RP Xaela and Raen who have come to Eorzea before the Garleans wrecked anything....though depending on when you consider Doma or Othard wrecked, your character would have to be like 50 years old.
  7. Updated to add this clause in the OOC information: Furthermore, when you join our FC ICly, you are subject to the IC happenings of our FC. We are ICly an FC that does stuff. We go on adventures into dangerous territories and interact in hazardous situations. Our goal is character development for everyone in the FC and pushing the limits of IC actions. Expect to take risks ICly and put your character into dangerous situations. This isn't to say to be prepared to permadeath your character obviously, but we encourage growth between characters interactions
  8. YES THE EVOLVING THING IS IMPORTANT! Like for reals. Ashe's anger and grudges have evolved to keep up RP contacts and not get...old? He couldn't be an angry grump forever...you gotta have your character grow. If you don't change it up a bit people will get bored of you...fast. I know this from experience...it was hard starting out on Ashe because he's such a difficult personality but I have him so he can make positive connections with time and has felt "loss" and regret. Remember, as a villain, your character should be the hero of his/her own cause.
  9. Hmmmm, I play the villain to some extent on my main and I haven't run into problems. He's still...human (lawlz he's an elezen) if that makes sense? He's not the type of guy who is in your face MWAHAHAHAHAHA and will sometimes tease people for fun and hint at darker things but not be like "And now I'm going to kidnap you and eat your soul." ....he's not into that anyways. A lot of his "villain-ness" is inner turmoil that he kind of exudes into his goals that others get involved in? I donno...RPing on Ashe has been a lot of fun. I've gotten to meet cool people, almost die, go on IC dungeon runs, get double crossed. And it's all been super fun. I guess....if people don't take you personally and can separate IC and OOC...then all's good >> I just tend to RP with random people who I can trust be mature about things >> If there are things my character can do that'll be important to a situation, I'll let someone know OOCly. If something is confusing or someone asks a question to clarify, I'll politely answer. I donno....just don't make a villain that's god-awful in your face and you're good haha.
  10. I can think of a way....Ashe has had aether sight as a thing before 3.0 made it canon but it's not like super broken (it's on his wiki). He mostly uses it for mapping aether currents and figuring out how shit works but I always had the head canon that aether flows around mages differently, especially black mages. But thaumaturges too since they kinda of use and deplete their own aether regularly, etc. Technically speaking, he already saw it xPP It would makes sense. It's perfectly fine for me ^^ Just poke me if you want to rp once more then : ) We're in the same LS so I can find you whenever. I'll be off for most of the weekend though...surgery and what not.

  12. Mad awkward 'cause I rp'd with you today but I'd be happy to offer up Ashe for more RP times haha Not sure he'd be super happy letting another Ishgardian know he is a mage but yeah >>
  13. My main (Ashe) is ICly a black mage for reasons...and has dealt with voidsent out of boredom, etc. etc. He also works with aether as a researcher/scholar (the kind that deals with knowledge, not drags around a fairy). Soooo yeah...I'd be interested to know more. I'll be on less this week 'cause surgery Friday but is it okay to discuss more via PM?
  14. Dude, I've been RPing her since maybe a week after the official release day HW (as opposed to EA when I was focused on my main). I've already posted in this thread a lot about her actually and she has a wiki that I need to finish--didn't finish it because my computer broke. Read above. Go back a page. My character is not like what I said in that quote. I don't RP in the cities because of my own preferences for how I RP but I lurk sometimes for fun and I see people RPing their Xaela and Raen like that. That is what I am commenting on. My main point was asking others how they are coping because I know from talking in the LSs I am in that others were having trouble with the Au Ra. Even one of my FC mates was commenting on her difficulties for RPing her Au Ra--she's a great RPer. Her Elezen is one of the most fun characters I've encountered. So yeah. While I am having difficulties, the main point of this thread was to ask how others are coping with with the difficulties they have faced.
  15. Yes, but tribe like people aren't going to wake up one morning, go to Eorzea and be super thrifty and materialistic. That's impossible.
  16. Yeah! The backstory and inner workings aren't the problem. But how to have them interact with people is like...what do I do... I always RP'd based on NPC examples. Like...NPCs act differently depending on the region they're from. You kind get an idea for how your character would probably act if they were from there. But for Othard we got like....no examples of that. Domans we have Yugiri and the ninjas (who are kinda derpy in their own right)...but Othard and Xaela....you got 1 from Alexander and it's like....okay >> YoshiP, wherever you are, please add Othard as a traversable region in 4.0 thank you /cries
  17. Um. There's a lot of things that exist in the game world that you don't see but are there. Like schools in Ul'dah or a library in Stillglade Fane. Or the fact that there's a Shepard's Guild in old Falcon's Nest. We know that Hyur are treated as low born from the 3.0 MSQ so why would miqo'te be treated higher than that? Also....those examples are all in the game, so those are all valid. If Ishgardians are defined by then no one besides the Elezen are Ishgardians. Period. The rest, even if born there and lived there entire lives and even if their parents were born there later, are foreigners. And that is how Japan works too...and this is a Japnese game.
  18. The Knights are full of bastard sons (Aymeric, Haurchefant) and second sons (That guy who you have to save around level 38). None of those guys are really the top of society. Oh yeah, I wouldn't pull the whole real life Xenophobic examples into this... If you are born in Japan to non-Japanese parents and lived there all your life, you will forever be a foreigner. There is no exception to that. I've lived in Japan for 3 years and worked there and even in America I work in Japanese company...I've lived in that society >> SO if we are using that real world example with real world logic...someone who is not Ishgardian by blood, born and raised in Ishgard, will always be considered a foreigner >>
  19. They have completely different jobs. Temple Knights hunt heretics. Dragoons kill dragons. There are Knights who do not use lances. I think they learn that through unlocking their dragon blood that is in their Ishgardian veins....meaning you have to be Ishgardian to be a Dragoon >.< The Azure Dragoon with the eye grants the same power...hence why the WoL could learn those abilities.
  20. Ishgardian Knight and Dragoon aren't the same. Knights maybe because you don't necessarily need to be high born for that. But dragoons are less likely... That and 1.0 lore is so sketchy >.<
  21. That would take us back to the argument about Ishgardian Duskwights, depending on one's perspective. That said, I'm of the mindset of if it's plausible, go with it. I think a lot of folks feel that way as well, generally speaking. As was pointed out when this came up in the Ishgard RP LS, the server is a fairly big place, far bigger than the RPC. If you come up with a solid character idea and stick with it, you'll find folks that will accept it and play/RP with you. Sidenote, dragoon headcanon below the cut. Wellll I think there are Ishgardian Duskwights because of DD and that alone >> Their base was a giant cave...only a Duskwight would live in caves like that. I never argued against that actually haha.
  22. Anthony Valron or my "main", Adrien Durmont. Okay! Will look out for you!!
  23. Hahaha SoF made me level Dragoon >.< My character is an Ishgardian who hates Ishgard so not ICly a dragoon but I was like LORE LORE LORE!!!! ^ loser So yeah....There's plenty of lore in 3.0 and Dragoon quests to go around and even 2.4+ You can do it! I believe in you!!!
  24. I tend to offer my FC up for slaughter a lot haha. It's my duty as one of the leaders to drag everyone into crazy messes! Wouldn't be the first time some of us almost died at the hands of dragoons!!! I'll find you in-game tonight. I'll be on prolly leveling my alt. Look out for a tell from either: Zephel Kohl (alt), Shar Jhungid (other alt), or Asheloux Thalantos (Main). Are you Anthony Valron in-game?
