  1. By which you mean you'll separate us from the group using clever subterfuge and superior alien technology as you pick us off one by one, leaving our bodies to rot in the jungle and returning to the homeworld of your proud warrior civilization with our skulls as trophies? Because I'm kinda into that.
  2. Last night was awesome. Great song choices, and so much fun listening to you all.
  3. My wife wanted to log in and make a character during phase 3, and just before I logged off for the last time on Sunday, she made me take a bunch of pictures of her character. When I asked her what she was going to make, she said "I don't know, something gorgeous." Of course, being the Kain Highwind fangirl she is, I automatically knew she'd make a Lancer. This is Qimaphela Domina. So tsundere...
  4. 2z0LoC7sh2s Dogberry will go Dragoon eventually, and this song is pretty much my go to Dragoon theme.
  5. Yeah, Abai has like permanent bedroom eyes going on. It's the blush! It's like she's had a bit too much wine, and oh she feels light-headed maybe she should go upstairs oh she's feeling dizzy could you help her walk up the stairs she trusts you'll be a gentleman coy wink. *ahem* Got a bit ahead of myself there.
  6. To be fair, a LOT of the New 52 is pretty shitty. At least, that's my thought. No doubt, and there were problems with The Blue Beetle most definitely, but there was some good stuff in there, too.
  7. I know a lot of people didn't like The Blue Beetle's New 52 series, and I can see why, but I felt that there were some moments of really good writing and characterization in there.
  8. Oh! Oh! Oh! Does anyone like the Blue Beetle? I'm particularly fond of Jaimie Reyes because of what they did with his relationship with his family. Instead of alienating his family out of fear that they'll be used against him, he really drew a lot of his personal strength from them. Seeing Jaimie talk to his father about some of his problems as a superhero, and his dad sharing stories about his time in Vietnam with him really struck a chord with me. I thought that was an interesting take on a superhero's personal relationships.

Hi there! It's OK to be shy! One thing I like about this community is how people are willing to meet you half way to get you involved. Feel free to ask questions, see what's out here and what interests you.
  11. We should discuss a pirate LS or FC further. Feel free to PM me about it anytime.
  12. Hello! More pirates! I do intend on eventually hoisting the jolly roger, probably eventually making a linkshell consisting of a privateer/pirate crew or network of ne'erdowells who use assymetrical warfare and guerilla tactics against the Garlean empire. And who also enjoy a good shanty and a bit of grog. My character isn't quite "there" yet with the piracy thing, but he'll come around eventually. My alt, however, is a piratical black mage right out of the gate. Great minds think alike! /highfive!
  13. I play a Roeg pugilist. ICly he used to be a lancer who worked as a harpooner on whaling ships, volunteered to help fight the Garlean empire, and ended up so traumatized by the calamity he can't bring himself to pick up a spear again. So what's a guy to do when he's only really good at stabbing things? He starts making a living punching things.
  14. Marv from Sin City was a big inspiration for me in creating Dogberry. Marv has a lot of problems, but in his own way he's got a strong moral compass and knows how to enjoy the simpler things in life. Obviously Dogberry can cope a little better with his problems, but the idea of a scratched up hulk with self-control issues was more or less the cloth Dogberry was cut from.
  15. I completely agree. Anyone higher level than me is a dirty elitist oppressor who's out to ruin my fun. Anyone lower level than me is a half-wit noob who needs to GTFO because it's killing my game.
  16. Pink is a manly color, twelve dammit.
  17. Happy Canada day! Drink some beer and raise hell at a hockey game!
  18. I love Hellboy a lot. He's just awesome. My favorite comic right now is Mouse Guard. It's note a superhero comic, it's about mice trying to survive in a medieval society. My favorite character? This guy: Lieam, one of the most hardcore mice ever. You have to be hardcore when you're a mouse. Otherwise something will eat you. Lieam takes it up a notch in the first issue when he stabs a snake in the brain through the roof of its mouth. Really, though, Lieam is all about the transformation from rookie tenderpaw to legend. It's awesome to see how the character changes, especially in contrast to Saxon and Kenzie, who sometimes seem to operate as two sides of the same character. As events progress he takes on the identity of a legendary guardsmouse, and you get the sense that he's going to do some great things. If there's any comparison I can make to another character it would be to Jon Snow from Song of Ice and Fire except he's less prone to making stupid mistakes by getting emotional. Lieam knows he can't afford to do that. He's a mouse, and one small mistake could make him some fox's dinner. I think that's really what I find so compelling about Mouse Guard. The dangers each and every mouse faces just to survive on a day to day basis just make the tiniest of hopes and dreams seem that much bigger. It's inspirational to me. They're overwhelmed by nature itself and none of them are fatalistic about their futures.
  19. THAC0 isn't THAT hard. It's all given to you, you just roll a d20, subtract from the THAC0 and if it's under the AC it hits. It's just subtraction and number comparison, which you should know how to do by seven. Sure, I'd rather just roll over the AC, but people act like it's high level math. I'm 29, and started RPing at 12 when I got my grubby little hands on the Player's Handbook, and had to hide it out of fear that it would be burned. Of course the cat got out of the bag eventually, and was pleasantly surprised that my parents decided that staying in pretending to slay dragons was not the most harmful thing I could be doing with my time. Getting into Vampire: the Masquerade, however... Nowadays, I do tabletop RPGs like twice a week between D&D, Iron Kingdoms, Shadowrun, Warhammer 40K RPGs, Mage: the Ascension, Paranoia, Deadlands, and Mouse Guard. I also LARP in two fantasy boffer games, Darkon, which as I understand is kind of infamous and has a hilarious documentary around it, and Dragon's Claw, a Roman era LARP. I'm also working on the rules for a Steampunk LARP set in Baltimore during the Civil War.
  20. I'd spend an entire episode sitting on a pier and referencing Waiting for Godot.
  21. I've noticed a lot of people saying "anyroad" instead of saying "anyway." And as always, I'm fond of classic Final Fantasy Woolsey expressions. You know which ones.
  22. Welcome to the RPC! I hope you enjoy your time here! There are a ton of resources here for you to use to help build your character. I wouldn't say you're behind at all. You're practically getting in on the ground floor as far as most people are concerned.
  23. ZdFnAwL9P8I Pretty much this whole album is my soundtrack for Reinbach. It's a hardcore album about black magic, with a title referencing piracy. Very yes.
