  1. Either Vetiver or Foxglove would like Vanya, I think, though I'm leaning towards Foxy since she was also from Doma. Feel free to poke me in game!
  2. An open book that happens to be a conjurer from Gridania? I'd be willing to add a few pages. :3
  3. Forum threads naturally veer in differing directions the longer they get. Unfortunately, this one went way off the rails in the worst way possible though I'd debate on-topicness depending on the context of x or y post. Some have tried to get back to the question of "You should not RP WHM because... / Well I think you can RP WHM because..." but there's only so much you can do with gratuitous shitposting (which it already is in the first place by definition alone) at every corner. I thought it was perfectly civil, or at the least reasonable. I'm not going to beat around the bush about what I see or feel is happening, but like I said: it's possible you make use of your ignore list so *shrug*. I know I don't, though I probably should now.
  4. I swear you two... I don't know what it is I do that keeps y'all around, but I'm happy for it all the same. I have such a hard time picturing a sweetheart like Sav enjoying the company of Foxglove, but hey, I've had odder mashups happen before! Hell, it may be just what she needs. Also I disagree, Savarah makes for fabulous company. A bit sad, but that's kind of my literary jam. This actually sounds... pretty fun, so long as you don't mind Foxy's temperament when she gets agitated (very strong fight or flight instinct), come poke me when you have a chance!
  5. You also forgot to mention how you food porn it up every time. *drools* Would definitely recommend Floria. Very adorable and sweet person; goes for the person behind the character, as well!
  6. I'm not even going to get involved with the rest of the clusterfuck this thread has become other than say the only two reasons I came to defend WHM roleplay were: A. To make sure that someone new like Heart Quintessence is not dissuaded from a concept they may be interested over a handful of exclusionary, literal-minded roleplayers they'll never actually bump into in-game. B. I am confident in the direction I've gone and feel that I've done nothing to break what information has been given to me in-game. For the record, I'm not offended, either. Disappointed in parts of the community around me would, however, be another story.
  7. Probably need to meet up with T'caska at one point on Vetiver. She sounds adorable.
  8. This has always been my biggest complaint with this game. Story is all well and good, but I'd prefer to do it my own leisure, not something I have to do to access every single core thing in the game. It's even worse on alts where I just don't even want to bother and mash A through all dialog or B > Skip Cutscene so I can get through it as reasonably fast as possible. They're just for RP and specializing in other jobs, anyway, I read and watch on Vetiver so I know what's going on but even then I struggle at times just because I feel forced to do it just to keep up. Disagree so much. Head tracking, interactive furniture, emotes and poses that are actually usable, housing, etc. actually make this game much more immersive to RP in than anything else I've played. The only things I even miss from other MMOs when it comes to RP is the skin library and dye system from GW2 and SWG's sandbox. Everything else, FFXIV does better for me and I'm willing to sacrifice them because of it.
  9. I agree, and the inverse of this is what I've never understood. Why -must- you have the title if having it means all sorts of lore diceyness? I look at it like this; you wouldn't try to break the lore and game rules at a tabletop session, so why here? The lore sets a consistency for all interactions, otherwise we might as well play Second Life. Just because you interpret it as 'dicey' doesn't mean others do. This isn't D&D with set list of rules, either, there's a lot up to player speculation here, never mind a number of game mechanics that some people ignore while the rest don't. it has nothing to do with a petty title or power, either, but what a path like White Mage means. It is an important aspect of my character's personality and history, tying directly in with her racial lore, as well (wise, witchy moon cats, etc.). You or anyone else doesn't have to like it, but I and others have done nothing wrong by going with IC jobs for good reason, simple as that.
  10. Claire is a really great writer. Can definitely recommend her RP to others.
  11. Probably, but your background would likely have to include a great deal of systematic racism. V'aleera/Intaki did a pretty good job with her Ishgardian Miqo. Be sure to ask her for help!
  12. Already have an alt set up for the race that I'm leveling in preparation for Heavensward. Currently I'm just saying she's glamored so I can enjoy RP on her in the meantime and will tweak things as necessary once we get more information on Au Ras.
  13. This is why I've long believed MMOs should do away with single player storytelling all together because it causes nothing but confusion and disagreement over something that really isn't that hard to figure out. I just really don't understand where this interpretation comes from because it makes several assumptions that seem ridiculous in the grand scheme of things: A. The only Padjal in the entire land happen to be the five NPCs referenced in 2.0. B. If not that, then they all think the same like a series of clones even though they all come from differing backgrounds. C. This is the only way to do it. D. That the reliance on the so-called will of the elementals is actually something more than exaggeration and superstition. A lot of this obviously absurd imo, but what really settles it is the official site disagrees with it outright: tl;dr ignore MSQ content as some sort of de facto rule set for roleplay. Inspiration? Sure, but anything more than that is severely limiting yourself and others around you over one of but countless stories happening all across Eorzea, all but our own created simply for the sake of story-driven single player gameplay shoehorned into an MMO and nothing more. Also that.
  14. There's more than one warrior of light, though, and job quests are merely one possible scenario amongst many others. Neither of those prove any exclusivity whatsoever.
  15. "Creepy, intense and a bit morose." --First impressions from Rila So I'm looking for people willing to interact with my new character, Foxglove Kyo. I say 'willing' because she is unlikely to be easily accessible for the average RPer given her social distance and gritty, violent history. To try and summarize: Foxglove is technically an Au Ra. Like most people planning to play one, she is currently glamored as someone else. In this case? A humble Doman refugee. She was captured during the ensuing rebellion by the Garlean empire and subsequently forced to do a number of horrific things (read: torturing prisoners for information) to ensure her own survival. This in turn has left Foxglove mentally numb; cold, apathetic and lacking in empathy, the innocence she had forever lost. Given acceptance and understanding, however, she may very well be redeemed one day, and that's what I'm hoping to find for her... close companions of any kind that will allow her to return to any degree of normalcy. As with all of my characters, Foxglove is quite gay and much more likely to warm up to women over men. Please keep this in mind before contacting me. Also note: her back story contains a great deal of both physical and psychological brutality committed by her own hands. Something else to keep in mind as I'd hate to upset anyone that might be sensitive towards Foxglove's past in any way. Think that's about it! I can always be reached in-game on either Vetiver Chastain or Foxglove Kyo herself. PMs, posts in this thread, etc. also good. <3
  16. Rare? Sure. Lore-breaking? Hardly. Never ran into anyone in-game that cared, either, so long as you have a reasonable back story to support your IC white mage. The disdain seems to be limited to old posts around these parts and that's about it. Lot of good information and brain-storming in this thread from a few weeks back.
  17. Whoever has time for me, I suppose. I'm not picky.
  18. Demon's Souls was better, anyway. This thread has also done a good job of proving elitism is still alive and well in MMOs, though I must confess I expected better coming from roleplayers. Call it naive if you want, but I'm still disappointed either way.
  19. You can count me in. May even throw Vetiver into the auction if I can absolutely guarantee I'll be able to make it.
  20. Ready to charge into battle with all things adorable. :3 Having trouble spotting you in-game despite being in your LS. Poke me when you get a chance, yeah? And no worries, Vetiver is about as patient as it gets. Thank you for your kind words. <3 I'm definitely missing Savarah at this point, we need to get together again! gotta go fast... ... but seriously, though, just a coincidence. A friend came up with the name, I thought it was adorable and so I went with it. :3
  21. Bleed is like ERP; most people do it, but few will make the admittance due to silly community-driven stigmas. Any character worth their weight will have part of their creator invested, as well, no question about it. Those that would shun someone for that is missing both the how and why of fiction in its entirety.
  22. I'm not going to disagree with the rest of your post because I consider it valid in most ways, however: No. Just no. While some men are clearly oblivious to systematic sexism, they are entirely capable of understanding female perspective via education and human empathy. This is the same toxic thinking that TERFs use to shut out the trans community and frankly I'm appalled to see it here.
  23. Updated! New things to read, other bits rewritten for clarification. About that time where I bump things up, anyway. I think I'll just stick with my mini Florias. :3
  24. Dark is fine, romance even more so. Also terribly shy with even worse social anxiety and thus fully understands how hard it is. Feel free to send Vetiver a /tell any day. :3
