dem nuzzles. <3 Also cheek kisses. Vetiver and A'zi are always doing those:

For one, there is a female majority when it comes to the player base in most roleplay communities. Some will play men, but I'd argue that most won't. Likewise, a majority of men that roleplay tend to play as women, often for aesthetics or a change in perspective. Once again, there are exceptions, but typically this is the norm. You combine those two factors together and you get the scenario that you see here and countless other MMOs. For me? I am a lady IRL, and I prefer playing as one, as well. I'm not as gifted at writing for men as I am women, nor am I as interested in it in comparison. It's so undesirable for me that I honestly haven't even roleplayed a male character in years, three or four at the very least.

Depends on the character. Sometimes drawing inspiration from their actual level for progression is nice, other times it's just not really needed. About the only real draw for an RP character to reach 50 here is glamours, anyway.

What about somewhere between the two in that mystical grey area? I prefer characters that have the right blend of both strength and weaknesses. No one is perfect, but it's rare that someone is entirely talentless, either.

Unfortunately it's never really been mentioned as all we have to go on is the job quests for WHM and those follow a 'chosen one' format that doesn't really apply well to RP. In my case, 'Sage' as I refer to her (I haven't come up with a proper Padjal name for her yet, explains Vetiver's chosen name anyway) based her inclinations to teach Vetiver purely off of character judgement. She was a rarity, though, very eccentric like A-Towa-Cant and none too keen on the stuffiness of Padjal tradition. If you do go down this path, another direction you could take with it is that the teachings have to be earned, not unlike a classic martial arts film. Could be a lot of fun, actually! Oh, and on the subject of crystals: they can either be found, or gifted to. The latter is what I went with for my own character; Sage passed hers on to Vetiver just moments before her inevitable death. This has always been my take. Clearly there's more of these characters out there, we're simply only shown the important ones needed for the sake of progression.

balmung Gauging interest on a Gridania themed LS
Gone. replied to Magellan's topic in Chronicled Connections
Oooh, I may just have to meet you, then. An arrangement here or there would be perfect for Vetiver's fiancee, friends and clients. -
I'm saying when it does get sour, not that it always is or does. >_>

balmung Gauging interest on a Gridania themed LS

Much like Floria, I spent a lot of time in Gridania and the surrounding Twelveswood. I'd say the biggest bulk of my RP happens somewhere in the area most any day of the week, especially since Vetiver is native to the area. To say I'm interested in this would be a complete and utter understatement. -
Vetiver would hang out with her; I'm sure of it.

Though I'm sure the things I'm about to say have probably been mentioned, I'll throw this out there just in case: I do not purposely ignore anyone that approaches me. Some may think I am, but it's usually not the case. When it comes to RPing with more than one person, I have trouble keeping up, much less in a crowded spot with dozens of messages being flung around. I'm also a bit slower to respond which has put me on the opposite end of the spectrum. There's been times where I'm simply not given enough time to reply before someone walks off and leaves me a nasty, passive-aggressive /tell. This is why I often find myself staying within my already sizeable circle, relying on word of mouth or pre-planned sessions (/tells, the RPC, etc.) when I'm in the mood to find someone new. Anything else is just too difficult and stressful most of the time, nor is tavern RP ever really substantial enough for my wants in the first place.

Vetiver has two names, a chosen and a birth. I'll discuss the former first: Vetiver - it's a grass, a very fragrant one frequently used in perfumes. All of my character's given names are based off of a flower, spice, herb, etc. I've also used this name for years now and her favorite color happens to be green. Chastain - After Jessica Chastain, the actress. All of my family names are based off actors as I'm a huge film nerd. On the subject of her birth name: it's Pahja Aliapoh. This one has nothing truly special behind it, I simply ran that handy name generator over and over until I got a pair I thought suited her. :3

What if you're not the only one? Silence says a lot more than words at times. I'm pretty sure consideration for both parties was implied right from the get-go. For the record, I don't think everyone with a debate-centric mind is a confrontational, self-centered jerk. I will say, however, that my experience has found this to be true more often than not.
-
Why should anyone have to do something so obtuse over 2-3 people that can't be bothered to back off before things turn sour? This was the whole point of my first post: have consideration for your fellow players. It really isn't that hard, folks.
-
Because negative attitudes have this tendency to overpower everything else in the room, textual or no. It's also incredibly difficult to follow more than one conversation in something like an LS due to the lack of line-by-line color segregation. Maybe you've never been in this situation before, but trust me, this is exactly how it happens and it's not a good thing in the slightest.

On the subjects of artifact gear and relic weapons: as others have said, they're all replicas, copies, etc. Anyone can own one of these so wear whatever you want! I'm not sure where you got this from? The official website says: Any Padjal can teach it, hence where I came up with how Vetiver learned white magic. ICly it's kept on the down low, of course, but other than that? The real deal. White Mage is like any other job or class; it just requires a bit of creativity to really work it safely into your character's background.
-
It is ruining other conversations, though, because the entire scenario engulfs the spotlight and shuts everything else out. :\
-
There's also a difference between healthy discussion and typically heated debate, the latter of which most don't want or need while they're simply trying to relax, more so when it involves such a personal subject. Have a little tact and be sensitive to those around you. Lore of all things isn't worth upsetting people over.

Policy change: Sales of art for gil forbidden
Gone. replied to FreelanceWizard's topic in FFXIV News
A Terms of Service has never flown in court so I wouldn't even worry about enforcing this totally absurd, likely misinterpreted dialog from a GM of all people. Edit: Also said GM used the words 'would' and 'may', which doesn't really mean they're actually enforcing it, not unlike how no one at Anet cared about people like me using the Combat Mode mod in GW2. -
Gilgamesh and Balmung are never accepting new characters
Gone. replied to CarlSwaygan's topic in RP Discussion
To my knowledge, transfers are always accepted. -
I believe this is sultry enough for Vetiver:
-
I'm not sure 'great length' is entirely accurate when it seems like there's no real consensus here and there's a definite lack of in-game dialog consistency on the subject. Think it all boils down to personal interpretation tbh as with most lore things.

I'm sure the Eternal Bond ceremony can happen anywhere, we're just limited by game mechanics to the location in the Twelveswood (which could always change in the future, who knows). The 'ordained' Moogle is more or less the comedy option and let's be honest; no one would allow Moogles to officially wed couples for obvious reasons, hence the smartass comment he makes. What a marriage means is pretty subjective, anyway, you know?

I said 'official term', as in this what they refer to it as... ?
