  1. Cassandra is quite wealthy. She usually doesn't act like it, nor does she go around telling everyone, but she doesn't try to hide it either. I usually RP her as paying for drinks and other things by simply reaching into a pocket and dropping a handful of coins on the counter, with no concern for the actual amount she's paying. There are other things that hint at her wealth, but I haven't gotten into it IC yet. She's kind of evasive.
  2. I'm a bit late to this, but it would be fun for Cassandra. ^^ Anonymously, that is.
  3. I had a great time at your last Host Club, I'll definitely be there for this one.
  4. Main Character's Name: Cassandra Lachance. Brief description/Link to Wiki: Here. Usually online: 8-12 GMT Intensity: Medium/Heavy, I would say. I'm not a very experienced RPer though. Thanks for doing this Sastra! Let me know if I can help with anything.
  5. I don't have any autoimmune diseases. I've had other significant problems for a while. I won't go into specifics since any comparison is ultimately pointless, but my point is that I know what it's like to feel like you're dealing with something that will never go away. It can be agonizing, and I wish there was more I could do to help, but I'll just say a few things. Don't apologize. It's not a rant, and it's not even remotely close to childish behavior. What you just did is the smartest thing you can do - talking to people. Your life, and your experiences, are yours alone. People can tell you how inspiring your story is, and even commend you for your efforts. And they mean it. And it's nice to hear. But truthfully, no one will ever know the effort you have to put into everything, and the lengths you go to to be able to live your life. No one but you. When you feel lost and hopeless, when it feels like you can't take another step forward, try to think of all the steps you were able to take already. Remind yourself of the worst moments and the courage it took to keep fighting after them. Draw strength from that. Because you can do it better than anyone else can. But while that's all true, that doesn't mean you have to lock all of it inside, or that you have to do it all by yourself. Even if nothing anyone says can make your pain go away, sometimes even a simple conversation about nothing in particular can keep your mind off of it. More than that, talking to others is really the only way to understand that other people are often struggling with things that have never even seemed like a problem to you. That other people are suffering too, and dealing with it. Which leads to what might be the most important realization: that you're not alone. That goes for your post too, you're probably helping others more than you know, by the simple fact that you're sharing your problems. Thank you.
  6. I'm in the UK as well, I'm fairly new here and still taking baby steps (IC and OOC), but I'm up for helping with anything you might need to make it a better environment for EU players. Fortunately there seem to be some events scheduled with us in mind, like the host club, but it would be great to have more things to do and people to RP with, especially if that didn't imply having to stay up really late. ^^ So anyway, look me up in game should you need anything from me, or just to RP!
  7. Thank you all for organizing this event, it was absolutely flawless, and incredibly fun. I'll be there for the next one.
  8. There's no story to my name, I simply checked the naming conventions and tried to pick something that sounded like it suited the character I had in mind. I wanted something that seemed appropriate for sort of an arrogant woman who takes herself too seriously. There could've been many choices, but I thought of "Cassandra". It doesn't exactly fit into Midlander naming conventions but I figured it wouldn't be too much of a stretch since it has for quite some time been used as an English name. On the other hand, I also wanted a name that fit into her somewhat roguish nature. Nothing occurred to me until I thought of Lachance. I wasn't going to use it since it didn't at all adhere to Hyur naming conventions, but then I noticed that Elezen names were French, and I decided to keep it. I don't know if I'll come up with an IC story for it, but it's a possibility.
  9. That was good! I don't particularly care for haikus, to be honest. Can we do limericks? I'm not all that good at it, but I love limericks. I once met a girl named Coatleque, Whose favor I shall one day repay. You see, I was hiding, I was scared of writing. She said "Hi!" and I had to roleplay.
  10. Based on my observations in The Quicksand: Pretending to read, While watching roleplayers play. Naked Miqo'tes.
  11. I don't know if it's just me, Gegenji, but the image isn't showing.
  12. I suppose the best I can come up with is Faith from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. Though it would be Faith as she is in the last season, and not as overtly sexual or violent. Cassandra, while not introverted, is generally more subtle. Other than that I think they're fairly similar characters.
  13. Thanks for your post T'shina. I, as well as my character, would likely question the validity of categorizing a person based on such an arbitrary system, but it does help me develop my character since I haven't done much RP yet. Lust vs Chastity: 3 or 5. Can't help but to point out the inconsistency of this particular comparison, seeing as chastity applies exclusively to sex, whereas that is only one aspect of lust. Hence the two ratings: Lust in general: 3 She does lust after power, since she values self-reliance and understands that she needs to be stronger. She's not willing to disregard her principles to acquire power though, which is why the rating isn't lower. Sexual lust: 5 This is sort of hard to pinpoint because on the one hand, she has no moral compulsion to be chaste, but she doesn't really pursue sexual relationships either. Gluttony vs Temperance: 8 She has a great deal of self-control. The only thing she occasionally indulges on that has little benefit for her is drinking. While far from an alcoholic, she does at times drink far more than would be advisable. Greed vs Charity: 5 She's not used to sharing, and as such her first instinct is to think of herself. She does generally end up being generous towards others though, even if she sometimes makes it seem as though she does it reluctantly. Sloth vs Diligence: 9 She's quite determined and she works hard to get what she wants, sometimes at the expense of her health. Wrath vs Patience: 3 If asked, she would probably say that she was patient. In her mind, her attitude towards others, even if at times harsh, is a tremendous exercise in restraint. In truth, she's often unfriendly, unpleasant and quick to judge people. Envy vs Kindness: 7 Again, this comparison doesn't entirely make sense to me. But I won't dwell on it. Let's just say that she's not prone to jealousy, she assumes that the success of others is a result of their work, and her own insuccesses are her fault alone. She tries to become stronger, better than others, but not out of envy. Pride vs Humility: 3 She's mostly objective when it comes to her qualities and flaws. But she does tend to have a superiority complex. Does your character lean more towards the Sins or the Virtues? Mathematically, I imagine it's about even. I would say that that's about right. There are significant positive and negative influences within her. Which Sin does your character most emulate? Probably pride. Even if that's not her intention, she often acts as though she's superior. This is particularly true with strangers. Which Virtue does your character most emulate? Diligence. Again, this is far too simplistic a system, because (for example) diligence can easily become obsession. But I'm trying to keep it simple. Which of these Sins or Virtues do you and/or your character believe they need to work on the most? I would say she needs to work on being kinder or more charitable, since I believe everything else tends to follow suit. She would probably say that her personality is what it is and others just have to deal with it. I hope you don't take my comments on the system personally T'shina. It was quite fun to think about regardless, and I appreciate you suggesting this.
  14. Thanks for the warm welcome! I really wasn't sure about my profile, I appreciate your feedback. I did engage in some voyeurism last night in Ul'dah but I really wasn't sure whether people would be ok with a massive, conspicuous fly on the wall so I didn't stick around for long. It's good to know that people don't mind being watched, because it definitely helps. Your plug is much appreciated Jancis, I will definitely attend if I'm online around that time, thank you for the invitation. I actually hadn't even looked at the calendar before, that's quite helpful.
  15. Hello everyone! I'm new to FFXIV, I started playing about two weeks ago. I played WoW a few years ago and I enjoyed it but I didn't try any of the roleplaying servers at the time. I've roleplayed on forums and chat rooms but never on an actual online game, so my experience is somewhat limited. I've created my wiki profile. It's not much, there's definitely a lot to add to it, but I suppose it's a good start for now. Seeing as I'm somewhat rusty when it comes to roleplaying, I would certainly appreciate any comments or suggestions regarding the profile, so please feel free to let me know what you think. I also have one question: as I mention on the profile, there are parts of Cassandra's backstory that I'm deliberately not including in the profile for the moment. Now, I'm aware that any respectable roleplayer will not use the wiki's information without knowing it IC, but all the same, I'd prefer to surprise those who get to know the character. Do most people just reveal everything in the wiki? Does it feel as though I've withheld too much? Please do let me know. I'm in the UK, so I'm usually online until 7 or 8 pm EST, a bit later in the weekend sometimes. I haven't roleplayed at all so far since I wanted to familiarize myself with FFXIV. I'd like to do some roleplaying now that I'm more used to the game. What/where/when is a good way to start?
