I guess the only question I could ask is why wouldn't you? You've clearly put a lot of thought and research into it, it's at least partially supported by extant lore, it believable, it's unique, and it's really interesting. Perhaps a bullet point here or there might need to be retconned as the developers release more official lore about Ala Mhigo, but I don't foresee anything invalidating your character's development in this direction. I like it a lot. Freakin' do it.

I would reveal things as your character becomes aware of them. It's a more interesting way of showing her development than just "and then she found the second shard" imo. You can even write it all out in your wiki, but put the hidden parts in an HTML comment tag so they won't be displayed.

Brave is looking to become somewhat proficient in arcanima so she can possibly integrate it into a little bit of a science project that she's working on: amplifying mechanical motion with aetheric control. Would anyone's character be willing to help her? She's pretty good a math and geometry, which I understand are important parts of being an arcanist. Also, she'd love having her own carbuncle. So cute!

Steel missed her chance to infiltrate a castrum and murder Garleans yesterday On topic, however, the majority of the RP events that Brave has attended in my short time RPing in FFXIV have been action events. It's really starting to wear on her. Despite being a technically capable warrior, she's a lover not a fighter at heart. Which is evidenced by the fact that the rest of her RP has been her dealing with developing a crush with almost every PC she runs into. :roll: I really enjoy being a great big badass in games, but to my surprise I've found that what I really enjoy in RP so far the most is having my character develop relationships (friendly, romantic, hateful, all of it) with other characters. And Brave, being as outgoing as she can be, seems to be doing plenty of that in almost any scenario.

I didn't even realize that was an option. So I watch them in English. The localization for this game is super duper though (at least for English), so I really have no complaints. I really wouldn't even call it a "dub" even though the game was written and designed in Japanese.

My character's background limits her (mostly) to skills that can be acquired solely through reading. I picked her primary area of interest and knowledge to be mathematics and physical sciences. I did that because that's what I do. I'm currently working on an engineering degree, and I spent my time in the navy as a nuclear reactor operator. My goal is to infuse just enough real world physics and math into my RP to give it some good flavor. A long term arc I want to start working on would be Brave designing her "Iron Maiden" suit which is a suit of armor modified with magitek to make powered armor. If you've seen the exo suits from CoD Advanced Warfare, it would look similar to that, as those suits are based on real world concepts. Luckily in this setting, I can throw in just enough "it's magic, bruh" to make things work. She will have to collaborate with other characters for the smithing and machining required. As far as combat, I've looked into sword fighting a little bit to add some good flavor to Brave's fights, but usually I just make shit up that makes sense to me. I keep using the word "flavor" because I feel that's what OOC research lends to RP. You can do perfectly good, functional roleplay based on common sense, but those bits of reality folded in make things nice and tasty.
