The Screenshot Thread [Tag Your Spoilers]
MadWater replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV Discussion
This is technically a screenshot. -
Does that really require her defeat? -Manderville tooth gleam- It can't really, because when that happens, everyone's a winner.

Brave Horizon: - Her pants.

For Brave: Edit: The gif appears to have shrunk since I found it. Sorry.

One wonders, though, why they didn't go with the same setup as the Hyur; they have two clans to play with. Why not make "highlander" Au Ra and "midlander" Au Ra? Seems like everyone'd be happy. I don't really have a dog in this fight though, because I won't be making an Au Ra. Both sides have decent arguments, but ultimately we're stuck with Square's decision.

Dudes want to play as tiny, cute girls. Come at me, dudes. Already did. I just realized that both of your character names are JAEGERS which has made me realize that Roes are the best. They're Jaegers. Omfg. Hellsguard Roes. <3 I think we might be drift compatible.

Hm. I think I'd like Brave to show. -
I'm not a very experienced roleplayer. Hell, I didn't think I'd actually keep doing it once the semester started in January. But I stuck it out, and I'm glad I did. Aeon helped a lot with that. When we were planning this event, I figured I'd challenge myself and give back a little bit by helping to host. When I saw the flood of people descend on poor little Brave for the story event, I have to admit I started to freak out a little. Within a few minutes it became pretty obvious that the chat options in game weren't quite sufficient for what I was trying to do. But everyone played along and made it work, and I think most people had a good time in the process. In all, the event was incredible, and now there's no chance I'm going to give up on Brave. If anything, my non-RP main has something to worry about. Thank you to everyone who attended. I got to network a little, and hopefully I can contribute more to the FFXIV RP community as a whole in the future. Thanks Balmung. You guys rock!

You made a Roegadyn try to mount a Lalafell like a chocobo during the story event at Aeon's carnival. If that isn't grounds for wanting more RP, I couldn't tell you what is. Can I stop being a syrup-covered giant marmot, now? The story was good, and the spiders are gone, but I'm attracting ants. It's called method acting, look it up. You can if you want, but you'll lose your adoring fans.

I'm working on a "Whose Line is it Anyway?" type event where the audience plays the "three word story" game you see on forums sometimes and some volunteers act it out.

Tiergan might have enjoyed watching two Roe-ladies teasing Bryn just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle too much. :V Mwahah~! Today, we conquer Bryn. Tomorrow, the world! Muahahaha!

Hi Lekka! I like your arts!

Lzzy effin' Hale. FmkHqUwa4zg Hnnnnnnng. Ahem. Celebrity crushes aside, Brave does have a rock-n-roll personality, so why not have a voice to match?

Thank you for all of your feedback! I thought I remembered the "sons of man" thing but I convinced myself that I was confusing Final Fantasy with the Bible.

What word is used to refer to the playable races (and non playable races such as the Padjal) in general? I feel like calling an individual of any race a 'man' or 'woman' is okay, but what would be a good substitute for phrases such as "we're only human" or "have you no humanity?" while still keeping the meaning of those phrases?

Oh boy. I will preface this by saying I never really intended to be consumed by the RP like I have been. I had been playing my non-RP main on FFXIV for about eight months before I got bored and decided to try out RP. My main's name is Gipsy Danger, and that is the name of one of the Jaegers (mecha) from the movie Pacific Rim. Yeah, I was fanboying over that movie pretty hard when I made my character. At some point I thought, "man, Jaeger names kind of sound like Hellsguard Roegadyn names, that's what I'll go with for my RP toon." One of the other Jaegers from Pacific Rim lore was Horizon Brave, but after some research I switched that to Brave Horizon since Roegadyn names seemed to follow a "Adjective Noun" format. ... once I realized that RPing wasn't going to simply be a passing interest for me, I had to find some way to explain it. I made my character's birth name Bhaldswys, which is Roegadyn for Brave Sister. While she was evacuating from Ala Mhigo at age four, she had this conversation with her guardians: And so, she became known as Brave Horizon. Yup. That's what I came up with.

I agree with both of you. I wrote the last post solely to describe how guns operate on Earth. They have to water down firearms to balance them in the game. As far as how to deal with them in RP: just get creative, there aren't any real wrong answers, I think. The godmoding problem just has a new face, deal with that as you normally would. As an aside, alloys of real life cobalt (atomic number 27) are quite brittle and would make terrible armor. =P

Eorzean firearms are nothing like firearms in the real world, based on my observations. Garlean firearms appear to use cartridges, which contain the bullet, powder, and primer all in one convenient casing. These are what are fired from modern firearms. Eorzean firearms, based on appearance, appear to be flintlock or caplock firearms. These must be manually reloaded each shot, and the powder, shot, and primer are all separate, although might be stored together in a convenient paper pouch. The key difference is how precise the machining must be when making the firearms. The Garleans clearly have a leg up on their engineering processes, so that makes sense. How Eorzean firearms shoot so quickly appears to be video game magic. I suppose if you had a breach loading hand gun and a lot of practice, you could go pretty quickly. As far as punching bullets out of the air, well, that's just silly. Even if Yda could move that fast, and her fist weapons stayed intact, the energy absorbed by her hands would at least leave them so horribly bruised as to be pretty much useless. As for armor, in the real world, firearms defeated even the heaviest of plate armor. That's why soldiers stopped wearing armor in combat until the invention of modern synthetic composite materials. So IRL is a bad place to look for guidance on how to RP a musketeer/machinist/etc.

With the recent DDoS attacks on PSN, SE has made of point of saying that PSN is only used to initially log in to your SE account. Once you're in game, you're no longer using PSN at all. That's why when PSN does go down, you don't get booted from the game, you just can't log back in if you log out/close the app.

That explains the Forgotten Springs bathers. I would assume they have a menstrual cycle rather than an estrous cycle. Presumably, they wouldn't get aroused at all when not in heat. Taking into account all the lusty NPCs out there...

Looking a Gift Horse in the Mouth - Weird Gifts

I once received an electric toothbrush that consisted of a, uh, personal massager with a My Little Mermaid kid's toothbrush taped to it. That was from my dear little sister. -
