RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy Views on RP combat and injuries: I generally like to plan fights in advance and usually only play out combat during pre-planned events. Random fights with strangers almost always become pissing matches, even when an agreed-upon way to make the fight fair exists. RP in general is prone to contests of "look how cool my imaginary dude is compared to your imaginary dude" and this only gets worse when violence is involved. Views on IC romance: Romance happens, it's part of most big stories. I'm just very hard to please and highly unlikely to have my imaginary character date your imaginary character. I don't ERP, and if I've lead you to believe you're getting ERP from me you've been lied to. I'm so sorry. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Yeah that's fine too, there's no way in hell I'm going to want to be your sister or something though. Views on lore: I stick to it whenever possible and continue to ask questions to make sure I'm not wrong about what little lore I know. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): They're helpful and expected. They need to exist. III. the stock is there to deal with back pain - i use a bed stock myself in addition to therapeutic thumbscrews to help get a good night's sleep

I use ellipses sometimes for pauses and that's about it, dealing with people who abuse the fucking things has made me very wary of them

I only really get annoyed with people who think their character is funny but they're actually just shitting memes all over the place, I am thankful to have found very few of these in ffxiv 8-) on that note: anyone who describes themselves as "witty and sarcastic" is likely neither witty nor sarcastic

It really isn't... ? Society treats us poorly, thus our roleplay becomes an escape where these things no longer apply inside the circle. If anything, it should be obvious. im not quite sure what youre talking about. society doesnt treat me particularly poorly for playing video games. Not talking about video game players. I spoke of LGBT, and other romantic and gender minorities. what if im attracted to video games

The seeming prevalence of minority-type characters may have something to do with how roleplayers are a minority in and of themselves, and frequently we belong to minority groups in real life. I can understand why it might be frustrating, though. that's kinda a weak correlation.

i am bringing up an actual concern - namely that there are people who use polyamory as an excuse rather than a storytelling device it doesn't matter what someone would/wouldn't do irl, I am questioning people's intent in rping "polyamory" as I have seen far too many cases in my years spent in other games/sites of creepy straight dudes playing lesbians that sleep with everyone and aggressively seek out people to erp with - even if those people don't want to erp with them. these dudes almost definitely wouldn't practice polyamory irl, some I've dealt with actively opposed it. is it wrong to find an ethical problem in genuine sexualities/sexual practices being exploited by horny nerds looking for cheap imaginary sex? Sort of? It's sleazy, for sure, and it's obviously not okay if they're trying to force/pressure/trick people into doing sexual things with them. But if everyone involved is a consenting adult OOC and anything scandalous is done in private, if they want to role-play sexual polyamory to try to get off IRL, good for them, I guess. It's not my cup of tea and I personally don't approve, but I won't fault them for it or try to police their RP. these people are trying to force/pressure/trick people into doing sexual things with them, and this is where the problem lies! I have personally dealt with people trying to guilt trip me - as in me the player, not just the character! - for not responding well to their hamfisted attempts to drag me into gross cybersex they're enjoying themselves, but they're being incredibly offensive to the groups of people they're exploiting in the name of sexual fetishes. this is not something to simply write off as harmless, as these practices can make people in a community feel unwelcome purely based on how their sexuality is portrayed.
