1. Two keeper males walk into the Quicksand, sit down, and order drinks. The first is obviously very upset by something. "Still thinking about how Kay stood you up?" His friend says, attempting to console him by silently picking up the tab as Momodi comes back with their drinks. "Yeah, I just...I thought she had just forgotten, then I saw her talking to that other guy and..." the first groans, faceplanting on the bar. "Hey bro, What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." the second says, patting his friend on the back. "I guess. That's a nice saying, did you come up with it?" the first says, sitting back up and rubbing his forehead. "Nah, it's not Miqo'te."
2. As a very sensitive person, I agree. Even if you don't think it'll make people uncomfortable, it may clog up other people's chat boxes if you go on too long or get in too deep. It's better to leave public, all-inclusive conversations public and private, sensitive subjects private.
3. This is Hihimi Himi, for the record. I've always liked to think up names, so I figured I'd make a thread to see the significance of your characters' names! Hihimi and H'eemi (My Seeker)'s names comes from my longstanding online nickname, Heemi. Heemi is in turn based off of the Japanese word "Hime", meaning either princess, or a young noblewoman, and was the name I chose for my Beloved Asura Necromancer in Guild Wars 2. Next on the list is my New RP character who has a Name I am very proud of: Momotaro Cocotaro! Anyways, here's his overly long entomology: Momotaro = Japanese folk hero. Momo = Peach | Taro = Eldest son Cocotaro = A Lalafellin translation of Kotaro, which is a Male Japanese name Kotaro = "Small Eldest Son" from the particular Kanji I used as basis Coco = Bears superficial resemblance to the Coco brothers (Thaumaturges' Guild-Heads) and also Coconuts Making his full name mean something along the lines of "Small Peach Son" when romantically translated. Finally, we have the oddballs: Kai'to Valen and Hare Stark. Kai'to's name is just the name Kaito keeper-ified, with Valen being derived from Valenwood of the Elder Scrolls series. Hare's name is just one I thought fitting of a Highlander Hyur, so there's no real story there... I'm looking forward to seeing your explainations!
4. I was also on AD EU and yes, if you were RPing in public, it was pretty much given that you were open for random RP and the onus was on you to explain otherwise if and when you were approached. It seems alien to me for people to RP in a very public place yet refuse to engage in public RP... I'm not sure what the solution is here. I would like to hope that most of the cases of people being ignored are down to the simple problem of having missed the approach. If that's not the case, well, I would move on and try again. Perhaps try another area altogether if that particular one seems rather insular for whatever reason. One thing I can say is that, if you see me RPing out in public and approach me, I will absolutely respond. If I happen to be afk, I'll whisper you when I get back and apologise. If I don't respond at all then that means I somehow missed it entirely so a whisper to get my ferret-like attention would be appreciated! Wyrmrest Accord (NA) Veteran here, I agree with all of this. I've only had ONE person say "This is a private rp, butt out." to me in MMO Roleplay. Ever. That being said, "cliques" are natural and going to form everywhere, so it's useless to try and stop people from making better friends with one person than another-it's just how personalities work. The unnatural thing is the prevention of the addition of new blood, which should be encouraged, not shunned. Please don't hate on someone for not being there as long as you have been; it's like hating on a baby for being a newborn.
5. Greetings! I just finished some FF Logo-style art of Hihimi, and figured I should share it. I am not open for commissions at the moment! I take an ungodly amount of time to finish a piece, if at all, and I simultaneously don't feel comfortable undercharging myself, and don't feel comfortable charging people $40+ for artwork of this lameass quality. I'll make a commission thread when I get better/faster.
6. I don't want to cause another argument, please make your own thread so that this one can be buried.
7. The primary reason is because of the Padjal part, they are literally the Chosen ones of the Black Shroud, hand picked by the forces of nature to defend the forces of nature. Still doesn't make them more lorebreaking than White Mages of other races, IMHO. The lore team has stated that there are other methods of obtaining White Magic other than learning it the way that the PC learns it, they just haven't delved into that in any official capacity yet. There are apparently forces at work trying to bring back Succor through nefarious means, so while most White Mages are viewed with a certain level of "u wot m8" by the RP community, it's still a possibility if you play it off well enough. Padjal on the other hand are exceedingly rare because they are only ever chosen by the Elementals when the Elementals feel they need more to help them. Considering the current Padjal have all been around for an exceptionally long time, it's likely that for more to be made it would require an immense threat to the Black Shroud that couldn't be handled by the current collective might of the Padjal that already exist. It's lorebreaking because there just aren't really any unaccounted for Padjal in the lore, so you would require a lot of hand wavium to wiggle yours in, which basically means the vast majority of people won't want to play with your character. This may sound cruel, but it's how RP communities work no matter what game you're in. It's taboo because as stated several times now, the Padjal are the Chosen Ones, and it is exceedingly frowned upon for people to play anything in that kind of role. OK, I understand now. Sorry if I upset anyone, requesting thread lock.

9. i don't see any posts that could be considered harsh. OP wanted opinions, OP got opinions 8-) Yes, uncensored opinions that basically are encouraging me to fuck off and never return. That isn't exactly good for new members to hear.
10. I don't even know why this is so taboo, tbh, White mages that AREN'T padjal seem more taboo to me. Mind explaining that, anyone?
11. Yeesh. There goes that Idea then.
12. Hello! I was curious to know what everyone's opinions on Padjal characters are...I'm tempted to make one but I want to know how taboo it is, or if it's not even lore friendly at all... From what I can see in game, Padjals are extremely rare, but new ones are still being born--thus leaving "Unaccounted for in lore" Padjals... If this is wrong, please tell me! Now, on to the RP. She'd obviously be a White Mage OOCly and ICly, and not announce her white magic to everyone she meets...One of the things I noticed in various quests is their "Masquerade" as normal, albeit very powerful, conjurers...Probably to put the population's minds at ease. She'd not be a casual kind of character who sits around in a tavern--rather, a person who does stuff and leads expeditions to purify the corrupted areas in the wilds of the black shroud. As for how I'm going to get her horns, I don't really know yet... Everything else seems to be doable with character creation and careful outfitting, though. Finally, note I will not go through with this idea if too many people are against it. I know that upsetting someone is an eventuality, but I'd prefer to gauge how many people will get upset beforehand, and abstain if it's an overwhelming no. Thanks!
13. I usually change colors too often for this to count, but this design seed matches her current color palette way too well... It also really doesn't help that it's a desert dwelling plant and she's a dunesfolk. All its missing is her Yellow eyes and brown hair. I'll see if I can scrounge up another, better one...
14. Sparky the Male Furfrou: Her unorthodox starter and her second strongest Pokemon. Very energetic and Loyal, but Vain to a fault. Represents Hihimi's Puppy, Sparky. Ariaxia the Female Liligant: Hihimi's second pokemon, Ariaxia is the main influence behind Hihimi's love of Grass Types. Very kind, even if she dances to the beat of her own drummer. Represents an NPC Sylph friend of Hihimi's from her training in the Black Shroud. Stilettos the Doublade: Much smaller than a normal doublade, Stilettos are unique in that they will allow Hihimi to hold their hilts and share in their ghostly abilities. The most common form this power takes is to allow her to pass through walls unharmed. Has an honor-bound personality. Represents Hihimi's Rogue training. Kekepu the Female Togekiss: Hatched from an egg, Kekepu is the team's primary method of transportation. Very kind, and refuses to actively do battle unless attacked first. Represents Hihimi's Chocobo of the same name. Springbuck the Male Sawsbuck: Has a unique genetic mutation that prevents him from shedding his winter coat--something Hihimi is actively researching in her travels. He is very shy, and has yet to open up to the team. Not a Representation. Pudding the Female Goodra: The newest member of the team, received in a trade with another trainer for a "sibling" of Stilettos. Likes hugs, but other than that little is known about her. Not a Representation.
15. Lolotaro Nonotaro is here! Gonna edit with the other characters I made once I snap screenshots of them.
16. (This was at the "Censorship is wrong 100% of the time comment. It ate the quote for some reason. Curse this website's appetite!)
17. Sigh. Gamergate is honestly the most useless and superfluous development I've ever seen. Everyone knows honest gaming journalism died with Nintendo Power, and also that due to the fact that Revive kills Zombies, it's never coming back. That and also the amount of harassment they churn out in the name of "Purification" is absolutely ridiculous. Many young women--even children--have given up hope that they will ever be hired in the Gaming industry because of gamergate and the fiascos that have followed it. In short; it's doing the exact opposite of what it was supposedly intended to do: Support young indie game developers by exposing corruption of the Media. Not that the media will ever not be corrupt. If they were actually observant they'd notice that this is nothing new. Even Nintendo Power would sing praises for it's high-selling titles.
18. Holy frick, it's like you knew her namesake was an asura! It's perfection! I'll join~
19. Disclaimer: Hihimi's wiki is under major reconstruction until further notice, primarily because I don't know what to do with the character anymore... Fortunately I have not RPed on her yet. So, Hihimi's a bit of a blank slate at the moment and I would like any of the following: *Friends *Enemies *Linkshells *Free Companies To come forward and present themselves and their stories. Her talents/class are not set in stone either; I'm open to anything at this point.
20. Character Name: Hihimi Himi Character Gender: Female Dunesfolk or Plainsfolk: Dunesfolk OOCly, Mixed (Dunesfolk eyes) ICly. Time Zone: -8 GMT / PST What Rp are you seeking? More Lalafell! Also a Rogues Guild member to oversee her training. Wiki
21. what the flying frickly pear is that my immortal trash weeaboo wanton destruction of all things good and pikachu?
22. Hihimi has a huge problem with diets--fortunately she exercises enough that her sugary habits don't become an issue. Her real problem is trying to see someone else's point of view if it's radically different from hers, so she chooses to just think of bad guys as bad guys with no redeeming qualities most of the time. It gets harder when more complications are thrown into the mix... "If he's stealing from the rich Limsa Lominsans to give to the starving orphans, is he -really- breaking the code...? Gah! This is making my head hurt! I need assistance over here! And by that I mean someone to help explain that rule in extreme nuance." She also has a problem when people underestimate her for being a Lalafell, while at the same time she thinks it's incredibly rude to not find her adorable. "Ah, the wonders of racism." / "...wait, do you think I'm ugly then?!" Then again, in that last example, there is a comfortable middle ground of "She's adorable but I fear her Power". I still think it'll cause complications in RP though. IC miscommunications, ahoy!
23. I see nothing wrong with Pokemon Fanfiction... ...As long as it doesn't involve any of the anime characters.
