  1. I just want to see someone who is crazy enough to have obtained the "honest gillionaire" title.
  2. I'm kind of sad about female Au ras, with the huge difference in height. I wanted more tall ladies! So when I do make one, it will probably be max height. And it will also be the clan with greyish-blue-ish skin, cause those skin types are my favourite. It will also have one of the more intricate hairstyles, because while I don't have a hashed out personality, I want her to be meticulous about her appearance unlike my other toons (who have varying degrees of care but all are squarely on the casual side) She'll probably be a dark knight/ paladin combo or a dragoon.
  3. okay, cool I'll probably be on again starting at around 4-5 pm PST.
  4. this is more complex than I thought 0.0 so I guess the consensus is that sending an OOC tell potentially breaking their flow is better etiquette than slipping in potentially uninvited? yeah, Roe's are pretty interesting! I'm also playing a duskwight, but my main on Lamia is a moon cat. It's so cool getting to use such tall characters compared to my Miqo'te. Synglona is at the top of the height slider, and I just got to the story quest (Ul'dah starting point) where you meet Raubahn. It's almost surreal getting to tower over him.
  5. well, I was wondering- do all members have to share the same alignment? Synglona is in general a good person, likes to help people and such, but she really doesn't take any stock in the law besides noting the potential consequences of breaking it, and as a tool to deter the real nasty stuff. She would probably approach this fc assuming that the "any job" slogan referred to shady work by default, which is fine by her as long as it isn't murder, or otherwise permanently ruining people's lives. And also, I was wondering how I would go about joining my character. Would I track you down an rp a recruitment scene or something? That's all I'm thinking of at the moment, though I swear I had a different question earlier. I'll PM you or something if I think of it haha

    Hola

Not sure if it's too late and you've already established your characters, but there seems to be a trend lately for Balmung around 3am-5am~ish PST in the middle of the week. I actually only got on a few days ago this way.
  7. Likewise, I don't quite see the name comparison, but it would be interesting if both tailed races had similar origins. Even though the whole scales and horns seems far removed from cat ears/tail, all the races are much much more human resembling than anything else, so I can kind of see miqo'tes and Au Ra splitting off from the same tailed ancestor.
  8. This sounds really neat! If you don't mind inexperienced RPers, I think it would be a good fit for my Sea Wolf Roegadyn- Synglona Eyrinebbwyn I'm definitely interested in something casual, since I won't be able to be online all the time (I have university work and 2 other ff characters as well as non-ffxiv hobbies). I'd like to hear more about this fc, and I can give you details of my character as well if you want. Currently, she's only lvl 11 GLD but I'm trying to rush her to the point where she can travel freely. I think I'm going to make her join the twin adders, so this fc would also be a great reason to have her still spend time in Ul'dah.
  9. thanks guys! I suspected as much in regards to the openness (they were using /say at the quicksand after all), but I'm also new to this and feel better having confirmation, though at the same time was a bit afraid that sending a tell might interrupt their rp flow since it's OOC. I think I'll do that the next time I feel like my character would actually jump into a conversation.
  10. okay so, I'm brand new to rp, I've always really wanted to give it a shot but never found the time nor chance before. I used to play around with rp on a forum when I was twelve, but in-game rp is a bit different by definition. I've seen that some people like to rp in /say, especially in the quicksand. I was wondering, if people do that, does that mean it is open for others to join in? For example, the other day two people were talking about their different weapons and the guy mentioned treants, and how having an axe was useful against them. My character, Synglona Eyrinebbwyn, was raised on the sea, with a family of low-level pirates. She's barely ever been on land until now, when she decided to 'test her fate' among other things by becoming an adventurer. She chartered a course straight for Ul'dah on the idea that the gladiator's guild had the closest fighting style to her established 'swashbuckling' swordplay (later she will find rogue's guild to be closer, but by then she will hopefully be an accomplished paladin). Based on that concept, I realized that Synglona has never seen a Treant, and has only heard vague mentions of 'crazy gridanians using spirits as an excuse for everything' and ridiculously fabricated tales of around the world, picked up at port cities. I wanted to have her jump in and ask something along the lines of "I'm sorry to interrupt, but treants? Living tree monsters really exist!?" but I wasn't sure if that would be okay, or if they would get annoyed at me bumping in out of nowhere. so to make a long story short- does RPing in /say indicate an open invitation to join in? Or is it still considered semi-private between the people role playing? Also if there are any other unspoken etiquette rules, I'd like to hear about them. I know the basics (ie don't godmod, don't be a d-bag, and so on..) but almost nothing that is specific to mmo RPing edit: apparently my brain wanted to play a trick on me, because I spelled my own character's name wrong twice OTL
  11. Not to get involved with the discussion, but I thought it'd be relevant to note: Balmung opened up, at least as early as 2:57 am pst, which is when I checked and made my character. Still open now, which is why I decided to put my other character on as well. I didn't really want to post in this thread since I'm very new to RP and all, but yeah, it's been open for approximately half an hour so far. So either today is a lucky day or it's not actually that impossible to get on. I haven't been trying very long, so I don't know how real the struggle is lmao. Personally, I understand the restricting of the first Balmung character, but I think it's a bit weird that they restrict people with characters already on Balmung (seeing as you can only be logged onto one at a time) but then again, I don't know how servers work at all.
  12. also one time I was lvling cnj at haukke manor and I kept wondering- why in the world was it so impossible to heal the tank? I kept healing and healing and the tank would die, or it would be a close shave on even trash mobs! Not only that, but every single time I healed, I'd get at least one enemy (usually 2) after me while the tank seemed to be concentrating on dps or something, because he wouldnt pull them off until after the others were dead. I looked at his gear and it turned out he was decked in 1/4 DoM gear, 1/4 DPS gear, and 1/2 crafter gear. And it was all pretty low even for Haukke No matter what I did, he'd be dead or almost dead. When he inevitably ate it in the middle of the final boss, the arcanist in the group summoned topaz carbuncle, which ended up being a waaaay better tank. I remember it fondly now as the legend of the tank from hell, but it wasn't all that funny at the time.
  13. I'm not sure if its the same person, but there was definitely a BRD who did exactly that in Lamia the other day on LotA other things I hate- when you're tanking and mess up a bit and lose some aggro. You focus right away on getting the enemy back, only the healer/dps IMMEDIATELY starts kiting like a madman. I understand if the tank isn't being responsive and you're gonna die, but dude, you're at full health and i'm clearly heading right there, all you're doing is making my job longer. I feel like I'm obligated to start playing yakety sax whenever that happens.
