Or if this is some alternate reality scenario. It isn't a real murder. It is a staged game. so there has been a 'murder' in the story. (No one actually dies) And its a social game like people play at home - but you're acting it out. i have never felt so stupid in my entire life i'll just take my leave now...

One word - yes. Also first. We've had an event like this on my WoW server some while ago and while I haven't been able to attend, I then kept weeping over the fact as the impressions I heard were really positive. So yeah, not going to waste another chance again.

D'eshel here is just dipping his shoes in the new (for him) world of adventure, work and... culture. He's prone to show his savage side from time to time, I mean the guy was to be made into a Nuhn by the one who bred him (D'esh has a tendency of making people his favourite), so yeah. He's still a nice guy to talk to, just don't mock him for not being able to read or write. HE'LL EAT YOU.

Well, forgive me for making the wrong assumption, then! I must have misread your intentions or exxagerated a little bit. As I said before, that kind of approach is something I agree with, however it shouldn't come to a situation where a OOC tell should ever become mandatory to start RP with someone out there in the wild. Back to being on topic, though, OP: My character is still in the works and he's still getting his skills in most aspects, but should you ever have a need of an escort, a soul to go out and explore places with or just chat, do hit me up ingame!

D'eshel here is also a Keeper, although he likes the sun more, so if all else fails, at least he wouldn't mind talking to a (sort-of) kin from time to time! Best case scenario, the two end up adventuring together!

I don't mean to be rude, but don't you think that's just... Oh, I don't know, weird? I mean, sure, this is an mmorpg we are playing and these are other people we are interacting with and there are some rules, but people often forget that it's a two-way road. I agree with you on the point that chatting with someone you roleplay can be fun. Heck, I do it as often as I can. My original point was that, however helpful OOC interactions before RP may or may not be, I don't think it should be A) a must or B) encouraged that heavily. People should be able to freely go about and try to interact, in their character, with whomever they choose. That is roleplaying after all. Maybe I'm overacting or misread some bits in this thread, I just got a general vibe that OOC interactions (in random encounters) are heavily encouraged if you want to find some RP. (using the forums as a means of reaching contacts is a diffrent matter and I'm totally okay with that, just to clarify.) It's like telling someone that they'll only have a good spaghetti sauce if they'll add garlic to it, but nobody has to like garlic. I'll stop with the derailing already, sorry!

Well, okay, but there's double sides of the coin. In my opinion, in roleplaying the focus should land on the character and not the player. Sure, it's nice if you can get along with them, but that's not a given for the RP to be enjoyable, hence I see that it's not really required in that regard. Besides, to what you have said, I doubt that you can figure out the similarities between the player and their character based on a simple OOC introduction before the RP, mm? And that's what I'm reffering to. Well, again, I think that the line with IC and OOC blurs here. If a character is uncomfortable with another character, why not react on a IC basis? It's simple as that. If only, that potentially leads to more RP. It feels like to me as if you would be trying to give information about your character on a OOC level while aquiring it through IC means could be more fun and, I like to repeat myself I know, creates more RP. Well, that I can agree with. Still, it's not a must! We should be free to interact with people even if we're not sure they are roleplayers? It's not like the things we do are taboo and non-roleplayers will report us to the authorities should they get a scent of us.

That's some philosophy from this community that still makes me ponder, why exactly should we feel obliged to make OOC interactions first if we just want to roleplay? If it's walkup, spontaneous, random RP, I dare say just get it rolling or roll with it, there's no need to discuss it beforehand as if it were rocket science. Derailing thread is derailing.

It feels like to me, your biggest problem is that you are afraid to tackle on new things and from what I see, that is exactly what you need. You worry that you have restricted your character's skills too much, but try to turn it around. Make it so that it is your character's goal (seeing how she does not trust strangers as well and she is often forced to rely on them to get somewhere) to for example learn teleportation magic... or any magic altogether. Another good course of action would be to seek new contacts on this lovely side that would help you with this goal and any other. If you dread about repetition, do your best not to lead into such a situation! Improvise! Seek characters with which you would be able to try and do something you haven't done before, but wanted to.

Hmm, this sounds quite lovely and interesting, actually, though I'd like to talk about a detail or two. If you'd be so kind to invite me ingame when you'll be online, that would be great.

I'll avoid joining any FC's for the time being, at least until I'll get my bearing around the server, but thank you for the guild/work offer. Hey there again! I work fast. Anyway, let's make this as fast and straightforward as it can be, owkay! You'll probably call me a lazy sort, but I promise that I've looked through a bunch of the threads on this board and I tried to add some people that are looking for contacts (will keep trying), but the friend invintation thingy in this game is a bit wonky and weird for me. Anyway, with that out of the way, let's get the show on the road, shall we? This is my character. You might consider him attractive/handsome/cute/weird/a cat. Get this - he's most of these things. I am still fleshing out his backstory and I still don't know what I actually want him to be (will probably be decided through the course of RP), but I am looking for contacts/friends to RP and play the game together. Friends/rivals/enemies/companions/employees/employers or maybe even lovers/spouses? Anything that doesn't kill him! (It is debatable whether the last two could result in my character's death, we will leave it for now.) Anyway, I'm on Balmung, you can see my character's name on the left. I'm from Europe, my timezone is GMT+1 but I am online most of the time, middays and evenings.
