All of this is extremely unnecessary. Just give us more stuff to glamour and emotes, then let people decide what to label themselves. False dichotomy. There's a LOT between knowing the very basic of naming concepts for one sub-race and rping based on that extremely basic information and overly relying on race to define your character. It's not either-or, it's a million shades between. Thankfully I'm not even RPing at all at the moment, so I don't have to put up with people RPing Au Ra before Heavensward.

I once tried to kill a character off when I switched mains, but other RPer friends convinced me not too. It was a mistake, as her story would have ended much better had she died. So if you ever feel like a character's time has come, don't let others change your mind.

Tanking is stupid easy in this and other games. Doing it well is a different story entirely, and I can tell immediately if someone is mediocre or actually good just with a little bit of coil time together. Same with healing. Any idiot can stand there and spam cure, but developing the tank twister tether method in t13 while the scholar dps's in cleric stance is a whole different story. DPS is the only role where mediocrity is not immediately apparent. As long as they don't fail an instant wipe mechanic it can be hard to notice the bad without a parser.

There are definitely traditional languages by race/culture in the setting, however I really doubt they are in common use in the present. It's possible they're nearly lost. All of the Doman children speak fluent Eorzean, so I'm doubtful about Domans speaking something analogous to Japanese, Seekers and Keepers have ancient languages that's only real remnant is found in their names, etc. I do think that there is a unified "common" tongue.

Well, I was referring to lore, not stats snip It's more that Miqo'te PCs seem to be anything they fancy without consideration to the racial lore First of all, show me in the lore where it says that Miqo'te shouldn't be strong enough to wield a great sword. Second, it's a myth that great swords were ridiculously heavy, they were not. The heaviest practical great swords were eight pounds at the most. By the way, when you're swinging around eight pounds of metal in a fight endurance makes way more of a difference than lifting power. So it's entirely possible that Miqo'te would be better at it than a Highlander if we're going with this crappy logic. Third, watch Raubahn in the most recent cutscenes. That's proof that physical fighters use aether to make themselves stronger, which invalidates every argument about physical limitations for any race/size/gender, period.

I think part of it is that we won't be getting a great sword class the same way we have Gladiator for Sword and Shield, or Marauder for Axe. It's pretty much Dark Knight or no great sword in game. I do agree it's a little much that some people are already RPing Dark Knights, but it's not like I RP with them so... it's whatever.

Their own justifications for RPing a Job: Well thought out, rational, not lore breaking, good RP, doing it for the right reasons. Everyone else's justifcations for RPing a Job: Poorly thought out, irrational, lore breaking, bad RP, doing it for the wrong reasons. While I'm not interested in Dark Knight my AuRa is going to be all over Astrologian, and I'll be a gods damned special snowflake to do it if necessary.

Dub is a misnomer here. With a dub you take the existing material and sync your acting to the mouth movement that is already animated or filmed. In this case, the movements of the mouth are altered or simplified from the start to accommodate the different languages, so dub isn't quite right here. Getting off track here, but let's be clear that no one voice acting language in XIV's case is "original" or "correct". XIV has been a global project from inception. If you never listen to the Japanese, you're missing out on the glory that is Aya Endo and Shuichi Ikeda. If you never listen to the English, you're missing out on the glory that is Gideon Emory.

We'll see, I think there will be a lot of variation on the horns, but the faces will be inescapably cold, just the same as Miqo'te being universally cute. Im also talking about the player base as a whole, they will of course be numerous among RPers, though I still think Miqo'te will reign supreme after the novelty wears off.
