  1. Yugiri's reveal solidified for me the notion that AuRa will not unseat Miqo'te as most popular race, not by a long shot. They have a very specific cold look that won't appeal to most the way Miqo'te cute does.
  2. /sweats you know nothing! Treacherous or not, they don't hold a candle to the evil that Lalafell display in the lore. I'm pretty sure you can find horrible people in all the races, though. At least Lalafell have folks like Papashan, Momodi, Tataru, and Pipin to help balance the scales back. Of course, but go through the MSQ again and tally how many Lalafell exhibit douchey or downright evil action. They leave the other races in the dust.
  3. It is her sister, you can talk to her at Apkallu falls in Gridania. I smelled treachery from him the moment they introduced him as a benevolent soldier bro. I liked him, but I did not trust him at all. I'm really satisfied with how he turned out! highlanders confirmed as treacherous scum /sweats you know nothing! Treacherous or not, they don't hold a candle to the evil that Lalafell display in the lore.
  4. I'm not sure, accepting an invitation to parlay is not that same as being a traitor, but people are jumping to all sorts of conclusions about Urianger for some reason.
  5. After witnessing that fight between Raubahn and Illberd, there is no longer any doubt about aether enhancing melee fighters capabilities. There's no other way he'd be able to kick a pillar down. So all of you RPing superhuman feats, feel vindicated. It's very Final Fantasy.
  6. He just answered the summons, it's not evidence of him being a traitor.
  7. Real DarkSouls players never use shields to begin with. Shots fired Screw that. I've got my Dark Rebels +10 ready for Dark Bead spam. The game only knows win and lose. Not real or unreal.
  8. Playing this will make you a better Dark Souls player since it takes away the shield crutch.
  9. Knowing a smattering of nouns/verbs is not the same as being able to hear the difference between 帰る and 変える or being able to tell if someone is over acting vs phoning the performance in.
  10. This. The thing is western anime fans can't really hear the bad in the Japanese voice acting because most of them can't even identify well known seiyuu - let alone tell different voice actors apart - by voice alone or understand even 10% of what's being said, but believe me it's just as eye rolling and in many cases outright worse than the english. If you can't understand it you are pretty much incapable of judging if it's actually good or not. It just seems better because you can't tell.
  11. To be fair, the Japanese dialogue isn't the "real" or "original" dialogue. It's all developed concurrently and released simultaneously along with the English/French/etc version. The differences are localization differences, and for whatever reason they decided that writing Keeper of the Lake the way it was written in English was a better localization move for this region. Much of the nuanced lore and dialogue is written by the western team anyway and translated into Japanese, so if anything the English dialogue might be more "original" than the Japanese version.
  12. I switch frequently to listen to the differences, and boy is it different.
  13. Explore. Read all item descriptions. Souls games have you piece things together yourself. It's very rewarding once you begin to figure stuff out.
  14. I moved to Japan when I was 11 and didn't leave until I was 16, so when I first "discovered" music it was mostly mid/late 90s japanese visual kei and pop rock. As a result stuff like this will always resonate with me. r1qe56Zhlg8 Knowing so much about the jrock scene in the early 00's was super "cool", but now all the kids care about is kpop.
  15. Considering the possible origins of the AuRa...
  16. This thread is for if your AuRa is going to be a new character or an old one. Not for discussion about the merits or flaws of the race's design. But since we're here why not address some points? Oh yes, very unnatural for sexual dimorphism to exist in a fantasy race. The dimorphism thing is getting stupid. It happens in nature: Examples of extreme height difference in humans: Better stay away from Miqo'te then as it's difficult to make one that doesn't look like an adolescent, and hoo boy are they sexualized! It's cultural differences. In Japan youth == beauty in a way that makes the dynamic here in the west look meek. So don't play one. Not everyone has reservations about what a character can be involved with because their apparent age doesn't at least match some arbitrary real world standard.
  17. If it hasn't popped by now you're better off teleporting to Mor Dhona and shouting for help. I've done that a few times rather than wait on my alt and it worked perfectly.
  18. I'm really enjoying it but there's a few things I don't like about it, which will probably drag me back to Dark Souls II for long term PVP. Very few weapons and armor compared to Dark Souls. No magic. No ring slots. 3(?) oaths (covenants) No equip load No respec. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing. I <3 the gun-parry system and the focus away from shields. But I loved the insane variety and quality of life additions that Dark Souls 2 had, so unless the PVP scene is really, really good I'll be going back to it after I'm done.
  19. New just seems much more interesting to me because depending on the lore we might be getting the chance to roleplay someone totally ignorant of Eorzea and have it work completely.
  20. Rakka'li was a huge anti-social grump, my way around it was just asking people directly OOC the best way to run into them, then I concocted a reason for Rakka'li to not leave the scene immediately. Sometimes it's tough, but that's the price of playing a wall-flower.
  21. If I recall correctly, something like this was tried way back in 1.0 and it of course crashed and burned.
  22. Let's discard the special argument for a moment and just approach it from another way. What does this sort of background bring to the table in RP? * She tells other characters where she came from and they say "oh wow", and then nothing happens. * She tells other characters where she came from and they don't believe her, and then nothing happens. My point is, it doesn't really add anything to the roleplay you'll actually be doing. It's just a special detail that makes her origin unique and cannot be used by anyone else or built upon because it has no grounding in the game lore, and thus no common acceptance.
  23. Is Average Joe sexist? Why is that we default to male when categorizing someone as average? Average Jane doesn't make this ok by the way since it's never used. Don't even get me going on Peeping Tom.
