  1. God I could keep doing this all day.
  2. Mtoto with pink hair and a ponytail.
  3. THE POWER OF EPIK IMAGERY CANNOT BE DENIED. Epik with a K. I'm waiting for a chance to use my other Lightning themed Deal With It GIF. Give me an excuse!!!
  4. And to all the haters I say: Apparently the event is optional. Get over it. EDIT: I admit, I needed an excuse to use this GIF.
  5. Not the first time Cloud has appeared in another title. Final Fantasy Tactics. Dissidia. Truth. Also, according to the beta forums, the event will also come with hairstyles based on FFXIII. Does that mean I get an afro?
  6. 100 gil on Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aerith appearing in a mini-event sometime down the line.
  7. It would probably be a good idea to hold this after official launch, that way we get the most participants possible. And it would be a great way to promote Gilgamesh as one of the Non-Legacy RP servers. If you guys want to do an Open Beta (Beta 4), I suggest a crafting/shopping meet-and-greet oriented event to jumpstart the economy.
  8. Porting character models, tendencies, and personalities is one thing. But TRUE dimensional hopping is another. This is essentially a crossover between completely different universes/worlds! I'm actually really happy about this. It opens up the opportunity for FFXI RPers who want to bring characters from Van'diel.
  9. According to rumors around the beta forums, this is actually going to be an in-game event with Lightning participating as an NPC. If this is true, dimensional-hopping is now canon. http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/07/04/final-fantasy-xiv-a-realm-reborn-gets-lightning-returns-final-fantasy-xiii-crossover-fans-rage/ Speculation confirmed. It's an event quest line starring Lightning.
  10. According to rumors, the FFXIII series and FFXIV MMO are having some kind of mutual promotion thing. In Lightning Returns, there's a DLC to dress Lightning up as a Miqo'te. No idea what FFXIV is getting in return. My hope? Gunblades. But boss from FFXIII sounds possible too.
  11. If you want something, do it. Many times in rp I find that roleplayers are not aggressive enough with going after what they wish. +1 for this statement. A key factor for successful RP is writer motivation. Find a concept you are motivated in pursuing and pursue it! The festival meet-and-greet idea is great! It also gives Linkshells and Free Companies a chance to ICly promote themselves during the large, public event!
  12. +1 for this thread. It's great to see such strong promotion for Gilgamesh!
  13. Decided to close the poll on the Beta forum as well. Behemoth and Gilgamesh have similar population numbers (quite a few people on Behemoth did not vote on the poll on this website), so I believe it's best to include them when recommending a server to any new players who don't want to roll on a Legacy server. Well Primals ICly can be killed repeatedly. There is a mechanic in the lore that allows for this, however there are other mechanics that can prevent you from ICly claiming to be a skilled Primal killer. The most prominent: without the Echo, your characters would end up Tempered by the Primal. There's more in the lore about that, too. So ICly, Tyonis doesn't have the Echo, which means he can't kill a Primal. I've heard mention on the Lore forums that there is even an NPC LS called the Company of Heroes that specializes in slaying Primals.
  15. These are the results from the beta poll! 16. To double up on the sports analogy, athletes that go into Mixed Martial Arts seem to outperform other martial art athletes that train only in one particular style. This relates to the common thought of "If one trains with one weapon, they are likely more skilled than someone who trains with multiple weapons." In theory, it sounds right, but in reality cross-training seems to beat out stand alone training. --- It should be noted that combat is very situation make it extremely hard to generalize this. To expand, in Mixed Martial Arts, there are a key set of moves that are far more effective than others. Generally speaking these moves originate from boxing, judo, kickboxing, karate, and muay thai. --- Back to the point: yes, cross training gives you the flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing situations in combat. However, in a "fair duel with the same weapons" in which one's skill set is limited to that weapon, the advantage of cross training becomes moot. Using Tyonis as an example: he is more than capable of skillfully using a sword, axe, spear, bow, mace, shield, or his bare hands in combat. But he identifies best as a duel-wielding swordsman.
  17. I am aware of the issues, yes. Most likely the trolling that may happen and that the RPC wouldn't approve of the beta poll results. I decided to chance it anyway. But thanks for the discussion! Whatever conclusion the team comes up with, I know you all do it in the best interests of the community.
  18. @any forum Lurkers who want to vote but cannot use the medium provided by the RPC due to the registration lock: I encourage anyone who wants to vote for a Non-Legacy RP server to go to this thread and cast your vote. I will do my best to keep the atmosphere as positive as possible while addressing as many concerns as I can answer! Thanks for your time! http://forum.square-enix.com/ARR-Test/threads/69183-Roleplayer-Selection-Thread-Take-2
  19. Best words said in this thread since ever.
