  1. This is true: there are a ton of different styles and preferences out there. Did you have any specific type of styles or RP that you liked? Perhaps we can point you in the right direction!
  2. Then just make a rule that observers are NOT ALLOWED TO CHAT IN THE MEETING CHANNEL. I could have sworn I emphasized this earlier.
  3. Someone watched SAO lately haha! Well here we go: Using FFXIV's current mechanics, I would split my stats between VIT/DEX/MND. Since there were only 30 points available in the beta, I would go 15/10/5. This gives me a decent HP pool as a Glad/PLD (4k) with improved chance to block/parry and also increases my healing potency a bit (depending on tests, if 5 MND isn't that influential, I would pour it into DEX instead for 15/15). For materia I would slot VIT/STR/DEX/MND. Preferably I would cap out VIT for the max amount of HP available to my class/job and allocate the rest to STR and DEX. If I had any extra space left, I would go for a bit of MND. For subskills, I would focus on leveling Conj/MRD. For a craft, I would level Alchemy for the wide variety of potions! Alchemy is also a good foundation craft because it creates parts necessary for all the other crafts! You can tell that my build focuses more on survivability than DPS. EDIT: If the game became "real" then I would not bother RPing. I'd be focused on surviving.
  4. Meh. Just let the general community watch the meetings if they are THAT concerned. If people want to watch, they can ask someone to drag them into the meeting channel - no leader should deny that to any member of the RPC. If such a thing does happen, well that's a totally different can of worms.
  5. Yep. I don't see why either. Oh, actually, this option can lead to a lot of bickering. Wait, no: it WILL lead to a lot of bickering. But that's the price of transparency. I'm honestly curious as to what the RPC's administration will do.
  6. Allowing regular members to observe the meetings as they take place would also be a powerful way to promote transparency. In order to prevent spam and as a general courtesy, any non-leaders at the meeting should simply NOT SPEAK IN THAT CHANNEL. Any commentary can be said in PMs or on the OOC Skype chat. There. Transparency. Because you get to WATCH.
  7. Great post! I'll have to set aside some time to read and re-read through it.
  8. Mtoto is right. The best we can do is report and hope the GMs handle the issues quickly. Until then, there's always blacklisting.
  9. lol, it's PRETTY, that's for sure. Just not sure it's idealistic. I have no problems with pretty characters, but unless they were raised under a particularly sheltered rock propped up with a ton of money, their personalities are going to be twinged with quite a bit grit and grime. Perhaps not in a purely violent or brutish fashion, but with a survivalist mentality. (Ex: Less is more. I don't mind eating rotten food once in a while. I have no water, so I better drink my own piss.)
  10. Expanding on how far the City-States have come in five years (read: fallen): Ul'dah, in particular, is teeming with bright and shiny infrastructure built on the broken backs of hundreds of homeless refugees that work for nearly nothing and are practically slaves. Despite the low cost and expendable workforce (read: die on a daily basis), many refugees are still jobless and litter Pearl Street (once known as the "rich" part of Ul'dah) or live in hovels outside the city gates. One of which is aptly named Lost Hope. EDIT: Oh yes, the Sultana and the Flame General are the only people with (barely) any real political power who stand up for these people and promote the good of all. On the other hand, just about everyone else just lines their pockets with coins bathed in the blood of the starving, homeless workforce (slaves).
  11. I'm a recent college graduate, haha! Good luck with your last year! I've never taken any creative writing classes, but I had friends who did, so they gave me a few writing tips here and there. One of the things they absolutely hated was my verbosity, so I've been trying to cut down on my writing length.
  12. Well then. It's better than my idea. /goes back to brainstorming.
  13. Welcome to the RPC! Well, a character without any origin in Hydaelyn? I'll play devil's advocate to Xenedra and say: Go for it. Such an outlandish origin is hard to pull off, but if done well, it's great for truly unique character development. I was thinking of brainstorming a dimensional traveler as well, haha! What with all the time-traveling, dimensional rifting mumbo-jumbo FFXIV has been throwing about, it's not completely impossible.
  14. Well. At least we know for sure now that horses exist in Eorzea. I want a new mount.
  15. Another RPC member brought up a great point: EU players live across the world and thus they are awake when many of the RPC members are asleep. In order to rectify this problem and open up more opportunities for RP socialization for our EU RPC members who have time-constraints and find it difficult to get such opportunities, I'd suggest creating a social group on Skype! This way, EU RPers can interact with other people from similar timezones outside of the forums!
  16. Totally agreement. I'm giving Tyonis all the scars you can apply to a character to emphasize a lifestyle filled with the constant threat of a gruesome death. I want SE to apply an age and stress complexion slider to highlight the strain of such a lifestyle, but I doubt we will get that level of customization. But I can still hope for better facial air. And a practical ponytail stylized for Hyur warriors that doesn't have half of my character's hair shaved off. :frustrated:
  17. good luck! post your hardware and specs here after!
  18. Ala Mhigo had the strongest military of all the City-States in Eorzea and invaded Gridania at one point. It took the combined might of four other City-States to push them back. So one can infer that Ala Mhigo's military were very, VERY proficient with all manner of weaponry and combat. EDIT: Also, swords are the common staple of noble weaponry, that's probably why it's on their flag. The Rule of Cool applies to Eorzea as well, ha-ha-ha.
  19. Great stuff looking forward to more!
  20. I've sent you both contact requests!
