Act like a normal person, carry a different weapon other than blades used by Ninja. "what is a ninja? sounds like something tasty do you sell it?" Good assassins and Ninja never run around in black clothing with hoods and masks without either a) being on the job at night or b) a damn good excuse (like acting awkward and asking if this costume for the party later is stupid or not) Unless your playing an assassin from Discworld lol

Gah, i hate doing anything like that, kinda kills the surprise but also with my luck something would go wrong and it be my fault lol. thank you for the reply though. I'll see if there is anyother way, maybe send him the money by a method that FFXIV uses?

hello, trying to surprise a friend by getting him on Balmung on his birthday. is their a way to pay for his transfer for him?
-
the ones i hate: *i wave my hand and stop your attack with my god like magic power" actually had a chump do this in City of Heroes. its the only response he posted, every time, i think he had it on a macro. here was my counter. "I just discovered a god has given you a lethal virus and you will die in 5 seconds if i don't save you" *attempts to inject you with the cure* of course hes response was *i wave my hand and stop your attack with my god like magic power" when we pointed out what had happened he got pissed and logged, didnt see him for months it was wonderful lol. it makes things far easier to just sit down and talk oocly before engaging in any RP combat.

Getting into Balmung - Not Happening Indefinitely.
Thorgar replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Odd thought of the day: contact the devs and see about getting a kickstarter for larger Balmung server? if everyone on Balmung tossed in 10 to 20 bucks they could probably afford a crey lol. -
[Spoilers] Dark Knights, Am I the Only One?
Thorgar replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
Ive not read very much on Dark Knights, I was going to make it an extension of his Berserker rage. A bit vague but i plan on filling in the details as i get them lol. to those of you who know the lore on this better, is that path for Dark Knight workable? -
if you do have to transfer, a bit of advice, make all the characters you want to play now on the same server then transfer them all for the same price. Only game i know that does this, and i know i took advantaged of it, and stored my alts on Balmung for later fun lol. Also once you get on, come hang out with us in Limsa Lominsa some time!
-
Finish his mead and meat, figuring they'll meet again then the assassin will be meat.

welcome back! Im fairly new to the game as a whole, that being said what i have found is very fun and a great community of RP'ers/players. The gated content is a bit jarring some days, but the pain is short lived and the game and its fun goes on lol. As for contacts, feel free to add me and my friends among them, we are organizing weekly IC hunts out of Limsa Lominsa feel free to join in or just hang out and have fun with us any time!

i cannot get the image to load, but i looked up sailor saturn, i have seen people with something similar but i do not know how to get it sorry.
-
dont forget you can put multiple characters from one server to balmung for the same 18 bucks, so might as well make all the characters you want for Balmung (up to 8) on the same server at the same time. then pay 18 and transfer them over
-
i dont have any female characters so for me it would be awkward lol

hey thanks for posting this, very helpful

my main is a fantasy version of myself, im 6'4" and 302 pounds of heavy armor wearing, two handed weilding fun. I make and fight in my own steel armor, in the sca and a few of the live steel combat groups. I am also an apprentice sword smith, so i always make one character like me but bigger than life. So i chose a hellguard Roe cause they are bigger than me in real life and i love it lol.

The rooms "don't exist" when you leave them. And apparently the plants need to "talk to" the server periodically to mature? That's my best guess. The wards exist whether people are in them or not, and apparently this is necessary for the plants to grow. reminds me of the pocket monster key chains that used to be around. i killed so many of them lol

Or make housing instanced :dazed: gude lawd the prices of these things. I think Akos is going to have to make due with his inn room for awhile, and maybe give up his dream of beach front property. There is instanced housing available via guilds in the rooms you can purchase. Because of how they coded the garden...they apparently can't make it work in the instanced spaces. Really? thats damn odd, or just a bad decision that seemed good at the time, those constantly come back to bite you in the arse
-
sounds like they need a dedicated server or six for housing and making tons of instances for the districts

Thanks, we will start saving lol

You all have been a big help to me and my friends so i am again asking this community a question. How hard is it to get housing on Balmung? both for Companies and personal? Also is their a way to build a FC airship with out a FC facility? Out of the group of friends ive started with on Balmung im one of the higher level ones with a lvl 43 (or so) Warrior, so we are still learning the game itself. My wife is pursuing more of the crafting side (and i cant stop her fishing binges lol) , but we just formed a RP FC with friends from other games and an old shared guild. So guessing we need to learn this lol.

I suppose I'm to thank you for reminding me that it's my character, and I can do as I please. But since I'm posting a thread requesting the input of my fellow roleplayers, one should infer that I at least marginally care about what they have to say on the matter. The manner in which I choose to play my character takes into consideration the ideas of the community in which I choose to include myself. i read your response and the smart arse in me has to say "we use silly string for all summonings and poptarts as rune tablets... trust me" =^.^= on a somewhat more on topic reply; When you look at magic through the lens of Theoretical Physics, magic is simply the act of manipulating energy with energy. you start with the base form wave (your personal energy/chi/bio-electric/bio-em) you pass it through a medium (wand/rod/crystal/etc) to which it phase shifts taking on similar properties. Once in-sync you manipulate that energy field by applying "pressure" and effectively creating eddies and currents in a stable field then control the resulting cascade failure into its desired form (fireball/cure/tax-audit). Learning to use that energy would be like learning to flap your ears, easy to conceptualize harder to do. however once you learn to do that base task (flapping your ears or summon fire) it becomes easier to do. Most learned forms of magic require a medium. i say require but what i mean is they are taught to use the medium to find the pattern they need to sync with which causes them to become dependent on using said medium. Basically its not required but without it casting magic becomes significantly harder for your average energy manipulator. For most they could not do it with out the aid of the medium, and later casting spells add to that dependency by giving them additional mediums for more grandiose energy manipulations. not sure if this will help, but fun food for ideas.

not to derail the thread but i was under the impression from the game dialogue that Primals showing up was far more common. after i killed Ifrit in MSQ, and dealing with the grand companies it seemed that they had to put down ifrit time and again. the language used made it seem far more common than just a handful of times. where does it state that it has happened only a couple of times total?

In terms of the Soul Crystals... PLD and DRG specifically refer to other people using soul crystals (PLD to the point where they give you one, you find another one and they strip it from you because it's a traitor's soul crystal). WAR, BRD, BLM, SMN are essentially "revive the art" quests, so no other mention of soul crystals exist. WHM ties it specifically to a certain deceased NPC, but implies that it is necessary to even be a white mage from what I remember. SCH has you find one but is unnecessary if the art is learned properly - The fairy itself comes from the tablet Alka Zolka found rather than the crystal. MCH uses its soul crystal as a power battery rather than a skill switcher. It's how you activate most of your aether mechanisms. AST has one for... reasons - you just get the job and tutelage from a NPC. DRK I am so out of the loop on that I can't really say. * * * The point is, for certain classes they are a good part of the lore and for others they are essentially cheat sheets for you to learn the skills stupidly fast. Thank you for the information, helps a lot. Odd thought if the crystals our embodiments of a persons soul, does that make Mechanic/Machinist more evil than a Necromancer?

Thanks again for all the posts, im learning alot! Oh amusing side note: was Rping last night and ran across a white mage claiming to be a white mage. The response they got from my Roe Warrior was "but your wearing blue". Seeing as his level on knowledge of spell casters is how to hit them very hard, very fast till their heads smush i think this was appropriate lol. Has anyone ever written to Square Enix with the intent of getting this clarified?

I'll chock this up to bad writing then, my friend is new to the game, newer than me and i still have the packing peanuts stuck to my Warrior's shoulders lol. She was wanting to know if you had to play a white mage to be a healer, and like me she likes to RP her characters doing the job/class the character is doing. I do understand people wanting to follow Lore even when its badly written (from an access of RP point of view) like this case. I would like to stress however jumping on a newbies throat for not knowing the lore that's hidden till like lvl 50 or something is VERY bad form. I guess Ive been a GM too long (since i was 14, some 27 years ago lol) Ive always striven to help people make the characters they will enjoy playing (exception, god level characters and their overpowered ilk), even if lore has to be bent a bit (set in consequences for it). When i run into people who like stepping on other peoples ideas with out even trying to help them fit it into lore it feels like your trying to tell me how to play the game. That is a great way to start a fight lol. Most of you seem to be considerate of new players and try and walk us through things for that .. THANK YOU! As a new player to this game but an old Roleplayer it is much appreciated when you try and work with us newbies and not just shut us down rudely. Even if we never get the character through if you try and help us we usually except it when it does not work far better than being told "the lore says so". sorry for the micro rant lol. thanks everyone for your replies ill relay the information to my friend. personal note im a sucky healer and hats off to those of you who learn to be good at that frustrating unthanked task!

A friend of mine wanted help with lore on white mages and she was told out right that you cant IC'ly play a white mage. when asked the gave something about succor, when asked for more details told "The Lore said so" kinda thing. so what is up with that, bad writing, or bad reading on the lore guys part?
