With any luck, the more detailed lore will state that it's not WoL "power tier" magic. Being a mix of two schools... maybe it'll be "dumbed down" so that the average Joe can use it without going through super special snowflake lore breaking school. Not holding my breath. I'm expecting our local lore cat to be right. WoL only.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

To the tanks that insist on keeping the Lava Scorpion's ass (or entire body) in the lava void zones... go die in a hole. Also, if you're losing threat constantly and end up not tanking the first two bosses for at least 75% of their health... that might be a clue that you're in the wrong stance. Also, just because you then figure it out and switch to Shield Oath... that doesn't mean stop flashing when there's more than two mobs. -

The last cutscene says the battle did considerable damage "to the area"... so it could well be further into Ala Mhigan land over a lake, but no telling for sure. *tinfoil conspiracy hat* The Viceroy is Lyse's father and/or the nephew of Theodric (Theodred). *end tinfoil* Also I had to lawl at the name of the achievement you get. "Five Minutes of Fate"... it certainly felt like it took about that long to finish this patch's MSQ... :\ -
Iron Raven Expeditions and Excavations

Another month has passed already? My, my! It's quite easy to lose track when so much is going on! IC: Well, our company is most certainly still here and rocking it! We've got weekly events rolling, both member and officer-led. Beyond that, we continue to have jobs (leves and hunts) to fill in the gaps for those seeking out a little more structured RP between events! We've just started to roll out an "overarching" story that we hope to be exciting and captivating for all involved! OOC: First and foremost, a welcome and congratulations to Ketenbhrat Iyrnundsyn as he has decided to sacrifice his time and life to being an officer of the company! We continue to run content together, continually gearing each other up for the upcoming patch and release of Stormblood. We also hold weekly map/aquapolis runs to help make each other rich! We are opening up recruitment once more. With members being inducted, we feel we are ready to welcome more people into our family. What are we looking for? Members that are active. You only get out of a company as much as you're willing to put in! Members that adhere to the lore. We are welcoming to those that are unfamiliar with the lore, so long as they're willing to learn! Adventurer type characters. We are, after all, an adventuring company! All around fun people! A good sense of humor and a thick skin are advised! If this sounds like you, feel free to hop on over to our company site and take a gander. Also feel free to poke any of our officers in game with questions and the like. People to contact would be: Roderick Blackstone Eerika Blackstone Ayane Lenneth Ketenbhrat Iyrnundsyn -
To add to what others have already said, a bit of personal headcanon here... I've always played it as the tribes "settled" around the areas where their particular animal is "abundant". So C tribe being couerls would be in the La Noscea areas. U tribe being drakes makes sense being down in the Sagolii where there are a fair number of drakes. B tribe being boar would be over and around the Urth's Gift area. etc. *shrug* Just thought I'd share.

To the healer that threw a hissy fit because they got locked out of the second boss of Dun Scaith because I "pulled early" after standing around for thirty seconds then decided to not heal me for the remainder of the raid: (A pocket healer for a wife solves everything.) -
I, admittedly, may be missing the point of the question... but i don't see how this matters. Not all sword/shield wielding people are gladiators/paladins, rp-wise or lore wise. Not all people that punch and kick things are pugilists/monks, rp-wise or lore wise. On and on... The only difference would be the magic-wielding folk imo. But even then, eh.. maybe? As Virella said, short of them flat out saying Ul'dah never had the bloodsands or equally wtf retcons... the removal of the job/class distinction should have pretty much 0 impact on RP.

Nothing wrong with pre-established relationships, platonic or romantic. With regards to romantic, my wife and I always pair up our characters to just flat out avoid any issue other players may end up trying to cause with IC/OOC bleed. Not because our relationship is that fragile, but because people be cray cray and we'd rather not deal with it. It happens far too often to even want to bother with it... so we just take our characters off the market from the get go (or at least plan for them to be an item eventually). *shrug* Perhaps we're weird for doing that, but eh... keeps us happy. Edit: Fix'd typos due to phone fingers.

You play a game that has a very loud tumblrina group that plays it as well. If you so much as blink wrong, this group gets triggered and runs off to tumblr to say how much of a privileged ass you are and such. I have no clue how large the group is, but in my experience there are a lot more in this game than one would expect. So many delicate little flowers ready to get triggered and offended for even the slightest of things. So yeah... it is common, unfortunately. Just keep on keeping on doing what it is that you enjoy doing.

Right, my thought was as well that being affected by the magic should be fine (talking about Pure-blooded) seeing as a fireball will still burn them. Was just curious if there was anything in lore stating otherwise about magic healing them. As in conjurer from Eorzea going wooshy wooshy on their boo-boos. Not so much a full-blood Garlean doing it themselves. Righto, thanks all.
-
This may well have been discussed somewhere on the forums already, but a search didn't bring up any answers for me. Garleans. Can they be healed via aether?

As always, I'd recommend taking a look through the Free Company listing here on the site. Most companies state their theme, how lore-abiding they are, a relative statement about their activity and "hardcore-ness" regarding their RP. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=53 Might help you find the home you're looking for. Best of luck with your search! (And of course, shameless plug of my own company, link in my signature.)

Has it been a month already? Goodness! Time does indeed fly when one is having fun! We've had a blast in January and February is shaping up to be a great time, too! We've had a few new members join our ranks over the month and our doors remain open for now for any others that may be interested. Weekly events are happening, both officer AND member-led! We also enjoy delving into all of the new content and everything else PvE! We've even started up weekly map/aquapolis nights, making us all incredibly rich (well, not incredibly... but gil is being made)! Finally, we've also promoted Ayane Lenneth to the rank of officership. She'll be helping with keeping the company going... and keeping me sane! So, if interested in joining in on the insanity, shoot on over to our site: blackgriffin.enjin.com ! Otherwise, feel free to poke Roderick Blackstone, Eerika Blackstone, or Ayane Lenneth in game! -

TIL that my DRG's doom spike is strong enough aoe damage to pull aoe threat from a DRK.... across three different dungeons and three different DRKs. God tier DRG looking for Savage/EX static. PST -
That seems to have sated her curiosity. Thanks.

A hand if you all will.... My wife swears up and down that somewhere in the game there is mention of a monster/creature of Bronze Lake. Despite looking through the lore book and google searching anything related to Bronze Lake, even fishing quests, we were unable to find it. The closest thing we found was Thalaos, which got me a, "No, that's not it. It's something still alive and in there...." Anyone hear/read of said creature and by chance have a link to a post or something about it? And no... I don't mean the rubbing oils on Godbert quest....

Right, by no means was I saying they're hard. They're not. Quite simple, really... even running them blind. Just saying the enemies within them feel a bit chunkier than they should be. Again, this could be contributed to less than stellar dps. *shrug* -

The trash on Sohm Al is meant to be tanked on the heat vents for a debuff. They do seem a bit meaty, but we were still able to clear both in the 18-20 minute area. This includes the second boss of Sohm Al wherein the healer died to mechanics and we had another "kill this boss with missing party members from 44%" scenario (but to be fair, our monk partymate was a 270 monk). Yeah... did the whole vent thing. Mass pulled. But even with a fairly decently geared SMN pug in one of the groups they just seemed to take a bit too long to go down. I realize this is the next step up from xelphatol and gubal hard... but just seems the hp got buffed a bit more than intended. *shrug* Makes boring sections even more boring *cough baelsar's "elevator" cough* -

Characters with matching surnames. :I It's an amber flag. Either they're going to be a coolly coordinated pair who know what they're doing and can carry any party, OR... ...more likely... they're going to be the worst players you've ever met, who reassure each other constantly that their incompetence is meaningless, and probably even have party chat turned off because what do the other 2-6 people in the party matter when they have ♥♥EACH OTHER♥♥. Euugghh. I went into AV once to help out free company members. They were a catgirl love couple. They had to hug before and after every. single. pull. My wife and I are trash. We embrace it. Just save yourself the headache and take the debuff should you end up in a group with a Blackstone in it. Honestly, though, I've not run into a bad couple yet, with regards to PvE anyway... >.> Maybe my standards are low... maybe I am in a bad couple... oh god! I'm going into a crisis! On a more serious note, did SE buff the fuck out of enemy health in the two dungeons or has the dps I've run with honestly been that low...? -

Goodness! I barely even posted that we're back and already we're flooded with applications! Good ones at that! We've taken in a lot of awesome recruits and, as such, are currently closing recruitment for a short while to make certain they all feel at home in our little family. That being said, if you're interested in joining the madness, still feel free to drop by our site and fill out an application. That way it will be on file and we'll get right with you as soon as our recruitment opens back up! For now, though, we warmly welcome our newest recruits!
