Arguments For Marriage Equality in Eorzea
Gideon Aryeh replied to Dameon's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Reppu nothing is absolute but I certainly would not be talking about Ice cream in a conversation about High end supercomputers especially not in a way to -win- an argument or insult someone. One can never take into account all of anyone. So I don't see the need to even have made the statement in the first place. I'll be waiting on those pms with those instances you speak about. Prove it. Arguments For Marriage Equality in Eorzea
Gideon Aryeh replied to Dameon's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Sometimes you only need a short response. I try not to always flood my posts with words, when I can be a minimalist. Since apparently that failed me this time... "I have my extreme doubts that it would be frowned upon, dangerous, or otherwise shunned or reported to show homosexual affection in both a roleplaying and real sense within FFXIV, intolerable and ignorant individuals non-witstanding.' That is what I would have said, were I not trying to be a minimalist. The same thing I've been saying to you thus far. - Also, 1.0 is a very real part of the lore. If you're looking to disregard it, it sounds like you're joining Gilgamesh, since it seems a few people there are gungho for "1.0 never happened"? *rolls eyes at this* Something like this didn't even need to be said at all. Because A. It isn't true in the least and B. Why should something like this even be said in this thread? Its honestly insulting and has nothing to do with the topic at hand at all. I'm going to walk away from this fallacy. -
Midlander she's gorgeous and there needs to be more Hyurs around than cats as they are well represented. I also love your Midlanders eyes as they are absolutely beautiful and tell a story on their own. *silly Nako-chans* Huh what? lol

I'd agree with this as I've been told by many that this is their reason why they are going there. Its a good solid choice for new roleplayers who come here, and I don't blame them. Fact is Balmung is has been known to be the rp server for some time now, so if you hate rpers you would be an idiot to go there. *puts on his cowboy hat and rides off into the frontier* Yah Thunderbow! Yaaahhhh!!!!

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you will come up with something you are pleased with.

Hopefully we can get Poe to put one of her family business botany shop's here *winks at Poe*. I think also there is a bakery that is going to be in Gridania. Thinks of the green brownies with both businesses there *slaps his hand*

Limitless Sky Swimsuit Competition! (On Hold)
Gideon Aryeh replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in Chronicled Events
This event will probably be on the first or second Saturday after the official in game festival so that people at least have two weeks to get the gear. Also it will be held in the early afternoon so our friends from EU and other timezones can join us. So perhaps 1 or 2pm est? -
Welcome to the site and hope to see you a the upcoming events for Gilgamesh!

Limitless Sky Swimsuit Competition! (On Hold)
Gideon Aryeh replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in Chronicled Events
Hey if you want to compete just say so! I'd like to have at least four men and four women here with three judges. After the first Beach Party Festival I'd be willing to allow up to five or six more on both side with whomever would be interested from directly in game! Anyone willing to contribute items for prizes from our crafter section would be more than welcome, and please if you have a love for catering and catering rp we'd love your services! -
Hey there, Falkner. So its really that obvious, huh? Yes, I am from SE Asia. I see. That's good news indeed. It would be awesome if we can make Tonberry the unofficial English-speaking server in JP region! I mean, its great that the country is giving us such a wonderful game, but I'm surprised they didn't stop to realize that there are a great number of players outside Japan within Asia that would love an English-speaking server with decent latency. But hey, I'm not complaining. Maybe things will change in the future. Who knows, right? And yea, the FC I joined doesn't even have an RP section. Looks like its going to be a challenge to RP in-game. So are you going to be online on the 16th? It would be great if we can link up. If its not too much trouble. The pleasure is all mine, Xaaniko! If its that difficult to find a proper RP community in EU, I shudder to think how its going to be like in JP. I, too, have heard of such discrimination in FFXI, although I never played the game myself. Lets hope its better this time around. Thank you. I do hope so too. Bad latency breaks immersion for me and I don't fancy playing with 300+ ms latency too much but I suppose its an option to pay a bit of money and transfer my character if its really that bad. Cheers! Why not gather everyone together who is playing on Tonberry and gage the rp interest and get something started? I'm sure the more that express interest the easier it will be to get what you'd like to see. Maybe you can even get someone to do a small rp event there so that everyone can get a taste of it? It could be something as simple as an icebreaker introduction party game but done in character.

Oh no no I just meant that's when I personally can do it for those who have expressed wanting it on here. Saturday for me is flaky due to RL responsibilities but if you can do it then that would be great as I love your scenarios!

Just wanted to touch on the events and tavern rp part. Sir you hit it right on the head. The very reason why I like tavern rp and am running lighthearted events. Bottom line is that unfortunately we will have to do the majority of our recruiting from the server itself, with people who don't come here and many who are trying roleplaying for the first time, so I absolutely agree about the more accessible events that you can come along to even if you are not in character. I've also found that if you gently pull people along while in character they sometimes (not always) will make an attempt at being in character themselves. Anybody can play in character taking a plate of food, getting a prize from a competition, having fun on the beach and getting a glass of orange juice or doing quest rp that benefits them. Those little things help make it not too hard to jump into rp and its always easier to show them instead of telling them. One thing I also want to add everyone from my experiences on Gilga during beta is that you will run into ALOT of lurkers. some of them with names that rpers will automatically block - please please please don't do this. During the last phase I had a group from a very non rp guild engage in rudimentary roleplaying it was honestly adorable. The situations was a group of friends and some new people we just met were rping in the Quicksand during this time I realized we built up a sizable following of Lalafell who were literally watching us like a bunch of kids watching a show. One of them made a comment "this is better than television!" and right there I knew I had my chance. I offered that one a chance to join in if he wants and he said "um maybe next time" and I told him "sure". Eventually some of our group had to leave, so he joined in along with some of his friends, my character got him some drinks and his character eventually got drunk, another one of his friends began to rp as the waiter and brought my own character KFC. Now at this point some rpers would give them that nudge of not playing to lore or something (that Is if they got that far). The waiter put up one of the chocobo hatchlings on the table and talked about how the KFC was ready to eat. My character reacted "you said this KFC was freshly fried, did you mean that it was fried fresh cause its still alive! I don't know what this KFC is but I'm not sure I want it anymore". Now again I want to reiterate that this group had the names that roleplayers would absolutely cringe at. Many would probably have blacklisted them upon seeing them. I recommend not doing this. By giving a fun entry level rp experience you do several things: A. Take off the stigma of roleplayers being exclusivist jerks. We have so many problems both real and perceived on a server like Gilgamesh already that this one is not one that we need to have. The more people think the rpers are cool, the more people are willing to leave them alone as mentioned in this thread, and the more people are willing to give it a try, and that is exactly what we want because as I mentioned the majority of our recruiting from Gilgamesh will be from the server itself with people who just don't come to this site. I know many roleplayers are not teachers by nature, but if you are going to Gilgamesh guess what? You may have to be a teacher at one point or another if you are a veteran roleplayer so you may really want to think about your decision. B. Give them the benefit of the doubt. C. Pull more potential roleplayers into the fun of rp. That day there were about fifteen Lalafell in that group. Even if -one- of them became a light roleplayer you've done your job and people are more willing to participate in something if one of their friends is doing it. That day I told the group that if they want to try it out again in phase 4 just to hit me up and we can.

I was going to do something similar during OB so I can if anyone would like a session during that time if I'm on. That Friday would be best for me personally. State in the Rping in Gilgamesh? thread that you would like something like this during OB also so that others can join in and help you. I can pretty much almost always do this if you see me on so it won't be a problem. My approach is starting out simple with a few character personality exercises that I've found that anyone can do icly. I'm also planning to do some rp lessons in Coalition OOC channel.

lol no no, You stated you wanted one you will get one. I will be in game that Friday and there will be other link pearl holders as well. I'll put the list up before the end of the day

Rping on Gilgamesh? Please give this a read
Gideon Aryeh replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in RP Discussion
If anyone needs help with a character concept then feel free to pm any of us and just ask questions. Also take a look at the link I have in my sig for lore that will help when building up a character! I think the site is very good, you can also search this site for lore threads and other types of threads that should help. I'd advise this. Keep it simple don't worry about mistakes and don't overwhelm yourself. Mistakes color your character and if you try to plot out every single thing you may end up messing up because you are forcing yourself to play something that you wrote down on paper. Basic concepts work best when you are new to roleplaying. You will learn your character as you play the game. Take my word for it. Gilgamesh Server Meeting and Discussion This event will take place this Saturday at 8pm est. Forgive it for being of such short notice but there are a lot of things that need to be discussed Maybe we can have these on a semi regular basis. Interested? Send Vashies Alexander a pm as he will be running this offline event . I think its an excellent idea so I and others will be there for support along with some from Balmung! Even if you are new to the site if you have decided to make Gilgamesh your home please send him a PM!
