  1. Sir, I applaud you for your ideas for Miqo hair as I feel the same I'd love some wilder hairstyles for them and a pointed teeth option. Yes that last part is wishful thinking. *Bows*
  2. Stands up and salutes. I'll make sure to be there sir! And just to let everyone know who can't attend because they aren't home at a computer. Skype can be run on mobile devices on IOS and Android. So please join the meeting and have your say those who are Gilgamesh bound!
  3. I want dreads as well like Raubhan Aldynn!
  4. 27:26 does not a unanimous vote make. A lot of them probably aren't even going to Gilgamesh. Its just not worth it to further respond to this thread Sel just keep an eye on your pm box. Xerek you also and everyone else headed to Gilgamesh as well. No need to keep the pot stirring on an already derailed thread. Everyone will get to talk unbothered soon, promise. Let's let this one die already. Keep an eye on your pm boxes.
  5. Glad to have you! If you decide to join us I'll shoot you a pearl during phase four.
  6. To coincide with the appearance of the heat resistant gear there will be a swimsuit competition about a week or so after its debut! See everyone there. I'll put down more details later! And please anything that someone wants to do put it down. I'd love everyone being involved! We will certainly need judges!
  7. Feck! We will have two now the first one won't have the pageant/swimsuit competition.
  8. Absolutely, both of you guys will get your pearls on the 16th
  9. Everybody is not going to Gilgamesh for the same reasons. Can't we just respect people's reasons as adults to choose no matter what that reason is?
  10. Well... If you say so. But it still sounds like you're speaking for the whole community instead of yourself or your own guild. Frankly, I wasn't aware that the Gilgamesh community had a leader. If it doesn't, then I think that the people who are bothered by the situation on Gilgamesh should do what will make them happy, and ignore this poll and the people speaking for them. Just go join the Behemoth community if you want. We, as in the "other" or "alternate" community. If we have a leader it sure isn't me. I'm not sure how to reply, because I have no intent on taking the bait. So, I'll simply summarize and hope that is enough. The "other" community decided on Gilgamesh. A big outcry came up when it was believed Reddit and 4Chan were going to land there as well. A number of players originally planning to go to Gilgamesh instead went to Balmung not because they had a sudden change of heart, but because it was the RP server without 4Chan and Reddit. So, this thread was started to propose an alternate solution. The idea being to simply pick a different non-legacy server. There was never an intent to divide the Gilgamesh community. It was meant as an all-or-nothing. Not everyone was on board, so rather then split the community it looked like we were all staying put. Anyone can do anything they want. I wasn't trying to force anything and I am out of ways to say that. I offered a suggestion and solicited feedback. When it looked like the suggestion was rejected I simply said that. I cannot be any more blunt about what I said and what my motives were with this thread. I said what I had to. I will not be baited into more. I appreciate this thread honestly. Unfortunately with the current atmosphere of the site your good intentions resulted in something else. Lets just hope that Square will do a good job handling the situation. If any of your guys are going to be in during open beta and early access I suggest getting them in as soon as possible. Hopefully everyone going to Gilgamesh will do the same so that more can get in during actual launch. I just ask don't let the actions of some here discourage you. Trust me many of us heard you and we can privately talk in pms for options if you want. Right now I've found that many are unstanchingly going to Gilgamesh. As I mentioned I have no issue going to another server but this would cause so much confusion during the last minute and feelings are already high here enough with other issues. Unforunately that means we lose those that are not willing to deal with the possibility of those from certain sites bothering them. There is no truly easy solution. We now just have to see what happens I guess. Personally I've always looked at us mainly having to recruit our roleplayers from the server itself anyway. Not that this part would change anyone's minds but a member here from 4chan has stated and linked that most of them are going to Ultros. Just wanted to reiterate that. Also know that many of the problem players have openly stated heading to other servers now after Gilgamesh being deemed an -rp- server. *shrugs*. You can check around the internet for that and the beta forums. Crops grown in harsh conditions make for the best crops. We will see what happens I guess.
  11. *Pays off the money he lost in a bet over the date and facedesks*
  12. Glad to have you aboard! And again thanks everyone, you guys have seriously been a pleasure, thanks to every last one of you. Open Beta starts soon and thank goodness because I'm sure once everyone is playing things will get a lot better! Oh and for all the newcomers go ahead and start making your character profiles so people can start making connections with each other and such! Lets also get those FC's up as well. If anyone needs ideas for an FC they want to start just ask or throw some ideas out there for feedback! You can pm any of us going to Gilgamesh in this thread to give a hand if need be. Same goes for any event ideas, so come on, say hello and don't be shy! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=33 This is a top quality thread. Kudos, Rock. Your rep will be in the quadruple digits at the rate you're going! Sorta' related, I'm working on a manual for roleplaying ettiquette specifically for environments that may not be welcoming to roleplay in many situations, with a focus on encouraging behaviors that improve the general perception of roleplayers, minimizing the impact of the things we do that drive non-rp'ers nuts, a detailed examination on why the troller loves to troll RP'ers specifically, and tactics for coping with rp-crashers that are designed around the aforementioned motives. You want to take a peek at the draft beforetter it's done? I'd value your input. That goes for anyone, actually. Sounds great, can't wait to see it and it should be a great help to many. There are a lot of rp vets here that can offer good feedback on that no matter what server they are headed to.

I'd like to do something during this time but don't want anyone to be locked out either and I know some of you may not be around during early access. Something smaller perhaps and more intimate, like a simple meet and greet or something. If you guys are interested let me know. Same if you have any suggestions. If you've never done an rp event before but are interested in doing one let me know! Perhaps early access might be a nice time to do it!
  14. *stands clear to watch out for the parade of women that are going to drown him* Good job! Expect him to be pretty popular too amongst the ladies, lol
  15. Make a character in both servers and get all the goodies!
  16. That's Reddit's concern, not the RPC's. It sounds like (to me) that you're suggesting that you're packing up and going to Gilgamesh in order to reach out so that these roleplaying Redditors will have a RP community to enjoy on their own server. As honorable as that sounds...is it not a bit melodramatic? I'll be honest It wasn't a reason until I spoke to people who were from that community in pms here, and in the game during beta 3 who wanted to stay there and wanted to try out rp. It wasn't a concern until the threads like this one that come up over and over again because people are concerned about having them around due to the possibility of trolling. Once all of these things started happening I did some research found the links and decided to add that to my reasons of going to Gilgamesh. I also made sure to let it be known that there are roleplayers that are going to be there, many who are trying it for the first time and as I mentioned in this thread who are going to be there trying out rp or roleplaying whether there are RPC members or not. Before I got a pm from one particular person I was falling into that realm of stereotyping too, believing everything that was said here and to me in other places and honestly thinking about perhaps Leviathan being a better choice. Once I got that pm I did my own research and looked around, got those links and said to myself hmmm....they don't seem that bad you know and that was pretty much it and thus decided to give it a go on Gilgamesh and help get things started. But was it my original reason for going there? Honestly no it wasn't. I just like the idea of starting in a new place with all new people and experiencing everything together for the first time .I think Balmung is in a good position honestly and will be just fine with plenty of seasoned rp vets like yourself that are going to be there. This time around I'd like to try something different and the smaller rp community that will be on Gilgamesh at launch can certainly use things like rp events to help get it started. (I'm doing one myself and there are some other events happening by others headed to Gilgamesh). So while perhaps its more Reddit's concern as a roleplayer I'm more interested in the roleplaying community as a whole no matter what server it is, whether its Balmung, Leviathan, Cactuar, Behemoth or wherever. If someone asked me to do an event for the rp community on any server where there is roleplaying I would in an instant, this includes Balmung so I don't consider myself to be an RPC man in the sense of server exclusivity. For me the RPC represents the rp community of FFXIV I don't buy into the whole server exclusive thing, never have. I buy into the roleplay exclusive thing and where there is roleplay I'll lay my head. But anyway I think I'm done with this particular topic. See you all in game!
  17. New Warriors... BAD BAD example. BAD. ~shakes head~ they ended up killing thousands and caused a civil war between heroes. I'd also like to add that I've seen in your reddit topics posted absolutely NO reference to Balmung being an RP server. Basically making it seem that if you want RP, the ~ONLY~ spot to go is Gilgamesh. Also @Selsix that bus was here for three years. People chose not to get on it. Please stop considering us at terrible people from putting time effort and care into the community just because this game is getting a revamp. We stuck around during the time when others did not and worked hard to create a community. I'd rather not see it kicked to the side because people think we're horrible for you know, actually PLAYING the game. In three years from now take a moment to look at yourself and think, hey we established a great RP community on Gilgamesh. What if someone came onto our section of the forums, bad mouthed us for playing three years and refused to play with us because of that. I'd also like to add that I've seen in your reddit topics posted absolutely NO reference to Balmung being an RP server. Basically making it seem that if you want RP, the ~ONLY~ spot to go is Gilgamesh. Its a well known fact that much of Reddit is going to Gilgamesh aleady, so should I encourage them to leave their main group to go to Balmung? Not to mention there are mentions to this very site right on those links, this very site that you can see Balmung plastered in many mentions as the place to go. So please lets cut that out please. I came in and told them hey there will be roleplaying on Gilgamesh if you guys are interested. Not because I am anti Balmung but because -many times- people here have said they do not want to roleplay with the Redditers around due to trolling and that is the reason why they are going to Balmung. So why would I guide them to a place where many here may not like them due to their Reddit affiliations? Surely you've seen these mentions. This very thread was started because of that concern. I seriously doubt that you haven't seen them. That is my -only- reason for mentioning roleplaying on Gilgamesh. If I really wanted to just push Gilgamesh as -the- only option I could just set up a website just for Gilgamesh roleplay and send them there. I can gladly repost some of my posts asking for people to be nicer to them instead of stereotyping them here if you'd like. Its no different than telling someone from an LGBT community to head to a place that people may be hostile to them if they found out that they were part of an LGBT group. Why would I do that? One of your issues is the fact of splitting the rp community right? Isn't it a bit pot meets kettle to suggest that another community be split (especially to go to another place where ONCE again many have stated right here in this very thread that they would like to avoid them) from their original group? I point to that poll again that's been circling the net that originated there. Most Redditers as we know are going to Gilgamesh. So, because of that many may be torn in leaving their community to go to Balmung. I came into the thread and said "hey, there will be rp on Gilgamesh if you guys are interested". And this is after someone gave the link to this site. So trust me I am sure many of them know that Balmung is there. And nothing is stopping you from going there to mention Balmung as a place to go. But please don't assume. Once again I mention that I have friends going to Balmung, once again I mention that Balmung was my original server choice. Nobody is here to stop people from going to Balmung. But I am not going to tell someone to willingly walk into what may be a hostile environment either. Oh look someone had to hide their Reddit affiliation due to people contantly throwing them into the pot of trollish community status. (that sounds like a group in real life- whoa) You want to make it better? Then come in threads like these and remind those that are concerned by players from Reddit to not put everyone in the same boat because they have roleplayers too, let it be known that Redditers, 4chan and whoever else will be just as welcome on Balmung if they want to roleplay no matter who they are affiliated with. That should be your goal honestly. No different from not putting all legacy players in the same boat either right? Damn that pot meets kettle thing again!!
  18. Ah but see it isn't a weird analogy because as I mentioned there are going to be roleplayers there whether or not we were there. and they will have to deal with the more trollish communities. Don't believe me? Say hello to the New Warriors During beta phase 3 when was actively telling the community that there was going to be rp on the server I got lots of tells from guild leaders telling me that they had members who were interested in roleplaying. Many of these guilds were not roleplay oriented, but they wanted to keep their members on the server and didn't want to lose them because they couldn't provide roleplaying because they had a different focus. If you played in Ul'dah during the end of beta 3 you would of seen ads by guild called Tempest as they kept spamming chat. This guild would be one of the ones I was talking about. A non rp guild who are Gilgamesh bound who had people interested in roleplay. How do I know this? Because one of the members of the guild tried out rp with me and some friends of mine during Beta 3. I've also gotten PMs from Redditers for their community not to be stereotyped. Guess where? Here, lurkers on the forums from the link I posted above. If you check a voting thread done by the Reddit community that's been circling the net (its even been posted here) a very high number of them are interested in trying out roleplay for the first time. Do you think that would just stop if nobody from the RPC rped on Gilgamesh? Probably not, but you'd have a hell of a lot less mentors around and veteran roleplayers letting the new folk who want to rp for the first time know that roleplaying is cool. Many of these people don't want to leave their respective raiding/socializing/pvping/crafting/etc/etc guilds, but there is interest amongst these folk to rp regardless, again many of them for the first time. And then you have the folk who are coming here who want to rp on a non legacy server. Regardless of how anyone feels about it people are going to go where they want. People have minds of their own and their choices are there own. Trying to convince them over and over again about how nice the pool is in one place just eventually becomes like the sound of a broken record after a while it can be just annoying. So its just about respecting peoples positions on things and not being too pushy. Some will go to Gilgamesh and absolutely hate it. Some will go there and love it, but why not let adults be adults and respect their decisions regardless? And if something great is made then nobody loses out in the long run because a bigger community is a better one. Think about it like this. If enough roleplayers are around and making enough noise SE might decide to just say "you know what, we promised these guys a rp server, lets just make one already and those that want to go there get free transfers". Wishful thinking I know but I think Yoshi is a reasonable guy if perhaps shown that there is a reasonable enough demand. And I am more than sure that he also would think of us as a roleplay community across his game. Not just a single server. *winks* as it should be. I mean I know this won't necessarily be a perfect solution for everyone, but I'm sure for many it would be a fantastic thing indeed. Read the link above and the ones I have earlier in this thread to see what I'm talking about. *posted up wrong link its fixed now, lol embarrassing! lol*
  19. "As a message directly to the Gilgamesh players; many of you act defensively towards us Balmung players, many of you act somewhat entitled, or demonstrate the very behaviors you claim to be leaving our server to avoid." I see demonstrating an attitude towards inclusion as a good thing. If saying that "no we don't want that feeling of exclusiveness or locking people out here" is a bad thing well then you can't please everyone. There have been those that have expressed similar feelings here who are heading to Balmung, and in an aggressive manner as well so don't place all of this so called behavior on us as if all of a sudden those smart alek separatists started all of this mess out of the blue. What I will tell you is that some of us were actually inspired by those comments and would love to use them as the building blocks to help the foundation on Gilgamesh. (so thank you, you know who you are!) See how good things come from Balmung! I myself want to change things because some things have been recently told to me of my past behavior that made me open my eyes (thank you - you know who you are as well) But nobody says a word about when such ideals are spoken about by a Balmung member. is it because they aren't going somewhere else? Because guess what you will be roleplaying alongside folk who feel exactly the same way many of us do. *winks* Here is more of what it truly is. I personally see it more like a superhero comic book. Sorry if you don't like comics. I LOVE comics! Yay!! Captain America and the Avengers has just made New York City a great place, its save and everything is wonderful, no more crime. They have been doing an excellent job and things are truly idyllic. Due to one day having to stay in Avengers Manor out in LA because the NYC location was under construction, some of the heroes currently with the Avengers meets some of the struggling young superheroes there trying to help their home. One of the younger superheroes who is part of the team, Cannonball fresh from the Xmen, he looks around and sees how great Captain America and the Avengers have done with NYC and says "Wow, you know what, I'd like to do this in Los Angeles because Los Angeles sucks". See thing is Cannonball got an alert about the New Warriors getting started in Los Angeles. They don't really have much to do with the Avengers, but that doesn't and truly shouldn't matter because you know, they are all superheroes. Some young heroes Cannonball knows are already going out there to help the new young superhero team who is overwhelmed, they want to strike out on their own and follow in Cap's footsteps. Some of them want to make a name, some of them want to establish themselves, some of them want to become their own man or woman a lot of them truly want to help the burgeoning local heroes establish their own . Whatever the reason whether to help or for glory they are heading to Los Angeles. Did Captain America do anything wrong? Not at all, if anything he should be proud of the junior heroes and support their cause. Does Cap remind the young heroes that leaving the warmth and safety of the Avengers is wrong? Never! why would a superhero do such a thing? Hell one day Cap and Cannonball might do a Marvel Team Up right in Los Angeles! (What a great read, hell I'd buy that issue!) Now does this mean that Cannonball will stop talking to Cap ever because he wants to strike out on his own? No! If anything he wants Cap's blessings! Does this mean that Cannonball and his friends sometimes gets super idealistic, yep! Because he's young and brash and idealistic (he's an Xman after all), sometimes the Avengers get into arguments, because well that's real life. Doesn't mean they can't play cards later on. But right now Cannonball and his friends are all full of that young energy and feeling their britches. Young superheroes what are you gonna do? *shrugs* So what ends up happening is that Cannonball and company (Sunspot, Eden, and some other newer heroes on the Avengers) decide go out to help and they sure do have their trials and tribulations, but guess what. someone is helping to clean up Los Angeles, trying to make it just as great as New York City. Along the way mean ol Wolverine decides to help. He likes the scrappy new kids and they like him. Not everybody may like Wolverine, but hell if you got a city to clean up that's overrun, well hell might as well send one of the scariest superheroes in the Marvel Universe along! Sure as hell beats him accidentally gutting Cap one day over an argument or something! With him gone he's less of a headache for the Avengers and great for the young supers to have along when they need a big bad to fight the big bads. Nothing like Wolverine threatening to pop the third claw when Omega Red rears his nasty face! And voila we have a great new comic that gets to sit on the shelves right next to the Avengers! and now when I go to the comic shop I get to buy two comics instead of one! Make Mine Marvel! And that is how I see this whole thing. And yes I'm silly sorry to anyone that doesn't like comics cause I Luv them! See the thing is that there were roleplayers going to Gilgamesh whether or not the rpc supported rpers going there. Just like there are roleplayers going to Behemoth, Leviathan and Cactuar. Even if all the rpers who came here stayed on Balmung there would be roleplayers heading to Gilgamesh from unwanted communities like Reddit, and 4chan and whatever other site is going there, and I see the RPC being a force to unite all roleplayers who make FFXIV their home. Right?
  20. It's like M. Night Shyamalan's career. No matter how much you want it to go away it will always be around ; ;!!! *curls into the fetal position and rocks back and forth while crying* *Joins you after remembering Avatar the last Airbender movie, screams in horror and pain*
