You do have to understand though that the lore still supports Dotharl being merciless killers in battles even if it is fleshed out on, unless they remove that from the naming convention lore. Consider this... One of the side quest, one of the Dotharl believes that, if you're worthy, their souls would be reborn as a Dotharl upon death. And many do truly think they are that high and mighty even if they are wise enough not to constantly pick fights due to their assuming higher rates of casualties. So, if a Dotharl happens to think someone from another tribe is worthy of being reborn, they'd just kill them anyways because that would be seen as granting them a better 'afterlife' wouldn't it? And if they're weak, well... They're already dead. But thats all speculation on the lore offered to us in the Steppes. But as others have said, just the name Dotharl WILL ICly rouse a lot of people, especially other Xaela who are familiar with their way of life. Sadu also thinks battle (and therefore killing) is a sport. If you return to speak with her after Doma Castle (and before Ala Mhigo), she says that Garleans make poor sport, even with their magitek. Take that what you will but it does imply that she is having quite a lot of fun out there. That may also extend to battles with other tribes, who may view fighting as a necessity of survival, fighting for land, animals, resources, leadership, etc. Overall, its whats presented to us in both lore and personal IC experience. My character also RPs with many Hotgo, most that lost their entire family or more to the DOtharl in their backstories. And thats not a hidden secret. Thus, my character would naturally be wary of the Dotharl DESPITE also befriending two friendly ones, though one was inducted into the tribe, and another escaped it. The name itself is part of the character, and its what the character has to deal with, even if they were born outside of the practices of the tribe. There's no changing people's perceptions unless it is further changed through IC interactions.

So, you remember those Voice Actors from 1.0 to 2.0
PhantasticPanda replied to Koti Nexus's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Wait what, they actually did this? O_o. I"m honestly surprised they'd actually go back and re-do the voice overs... I haven't played my alts in so long... And usually skipped the cutscenes if I did. I'll have to pay attention now. -
I think thats just simply the progression of RP communities. With Balmung locked just before expansion, we see a huge influx of new players and old time returning players, and roleplayers, looking for a place and with Balmung locked, Mateus would be the option. So in Balmung, we already have many circles and groups established due to its age, and from that, a lot of organized and schedules events and invested stories. Then on Mateus, we see people in the phase of making connections and whatnot which influences a lot more social stuff. Starting off RPing in the newer launches of GW2, ESO, and Wildstar, and even the launch of FFXIV 2.0, and seeing how the community evolved then comparing to the times I visited the RP communities of older games like SWTOR and WoW, I think its just the natural progression of RP communities. Mateus is definitely on the bright and new period of its life. Hopefully it can maintain a good population even after Balmung opens up again.

That's the thing though; Susano wasn't really summoned, he just kinda showed up when his artifacts came together again. Even the Koijin were surprised to see him speak and take form. Now that I think on it, he was kinda like Nidhogg's shade (assuming I understand what happened right). An actual spirit who was always there, just dormant. I could also be completely off, but that what I got from the cutscene and small tidbits from the whole Susano bit. Nidhogg's Shade isnt a primal but is alike one because it's not the original Nidhogg. When Haelsvagr was hesitant to fight against his own brother, Dad Dragon Midsgar...spellcheck made it clear that what they fought wasn't Nidhogg, but just a form taken by all the anger and hatred held within the eyes. Just pure rage in the form of Nidhogg. It's a similar thing Haelsvagr said to Ysayle about her Shiva summoning. That's not real Shiva, just some false embodiment based off the long past Shiva.

His summoning or idea behind it (the objects of worship coming together to form Susano) , is similar to Odin. It's not through actual prayer summoning that brings them into being but the very magic that's retained in those items. Though it's still somewhat of a mystery where and when Odin first came to be and how. But he is referred to as a primal despite having no link to a beast tribe probably due to his aether drain in his surroundings. So it's not a completely unfamiliar concept. San

discussion Losing ones Ability to cast Magic
PhantasticPanda replied to Jade Stormbrand's topic in RP Discussion
Where did you get this snippets of lore? I can see aether reserves not being as great as before, but I don't think it'd affect much with the ability to manipulate aether. We still see older characters manipulate aether to create power spells such as the BLM in the 30-50 story and Louiseaux using the power in his staff in his attempt to bind and defeat Bahamut. From a more magitek standpoint. Garleans, while not being able to cast magic, are still experts in aether manipulation with magitek. I can see magitek experts developing some sort of shield or bind, or even implant that can suppress the ability to cast magic. For the snippet of lore my apologies for not having it under hand right now, but I am fairly sure Sounssy does. It's found in a quest in Hawthorne Hut if my memory serves me right. Or maybe I'm confusing it with that lorebook excerpt above... Being old doesn't necessarily mean your whole aether runs dry, and maybe it's a generality more than a certainty. I don't remember the exact words of that quest. But I could assume that yes, Louisoix might have been more powerful in his youth? After all his staff Tupsimati is powerful itself not because of its user, but because it directly siphons the land's aether. Meonbryda also uses it against Nabriales with a certain potency even if it's broken (she knows how to use it and that's it). I wouldn't say that Magitek is manipulation of aether, baring the fact that yes, Ceruleum is a distillate of lingering earthy aerther. But it's used as a crude and powerful form of energy to power everything they have. They don't especially show a huge understanding of aether manipulation all in all. Aetherochemistry is however a very advanced field of aether knowledge, but that's the specificity of Allag. Doesn't it say in the lorebook while Garleans are physically unable to manipulate aether, they're still experts in the field, how aether works, and knowledgeable about it down to a science. And they do appear much more knowledgeable in Allagan tech than our savage Eorzean minds have discovered so far. While ceruleum is essentially refined aether into a usable form fuel, some Garleans have been known to utilize that to rival even regular aether manipulation. Examples would be Gaius empowering his armor and therefore his strength. Or in the Warring Triad, Regula was able to form a literal aetherial tiger using ceruleum powered magitek to attack the WoL. -

Maybe someone can enlighten or correct me on this, but from my understanding, interior housing, inn rooms and apartments also take up space in the instance servers for the entire data center. So while other servers don't exactly need it, I think overall its a plus to clear up whatever amount of space AFKers use up in that regard. (Sometimes I can't even enter my own FC house to access merchants or melders )
-
I mean, what else is gonna happen when people know about the time now? Ask the boss for an hour break so you can drive home, enter queue. Go afk again then drive back to work? A lot of afkers are no doubt people who were already going to afk from morning/previous night to prime time to escape the queue. I'm one of the people that AFK as well but only because I'd go out for lunch or make dinner which takes just a bit over 30 minutes. I'm usually back doing content before the hour.

Its probably not restricted as BLM or WHM because as Red Magic developed over the course of centuries, its aim was to build a style of magic from its foundations that could not harm the world through the use of channeling ambient aether as BLM and WHM did. Thaumaturgy is often referenced in the questline due to its similarities of channeling from your internal aether reserves. And many practices that could be seen as potentially harmful, such as anything involving void magic, is forbidden from use, so that neither would be part of its core teachings. Its methods will never be as powerful as BLM and WHM.

It's definitely the technique , discipline and philosophy that distinguishes them from black and white mages. Such as their self-imposed limitations they placed on themselves so they won't repeat the same mistakes of mages of old among other things.

Thaumaturge: Conjury: That makes perfect sense for conjury and thaumaturgy, but the question that often bugged me is why would arcanists need to think of the arcane geometries that are already written in their books? Open your eyes and look at the damn book no? Ain't got time to be flipping through the glossary/table of contents! So I'd say they'd have to conjure up the image in their minds, which then activates from the runes in the book from the appropriate page. And seeing how the geometries are distinct and probably precise, memorization through studying.

He also has a Hotgo with a grudge against him. My Hotgo, Chakha Hotgo. She's not very people-persony, but she'll show up anywhere Zanzan's friend does. Honestly, the amount of interest this has generated so far has surprised me. Lots of different, cool avenues of approach when it comes to stories. Awesome sauce! Hotgo lizards are rare. Dotharl lizards are legion. I'm not sure what you're talking about On a more serious note, I'd like to add you in-game as well if you don't mind! -

I think it'll be neat for Zanzan to come across Mide sometime, especially being around Limsa. One of his closest friends is a Hotgo and promised that he'll find and help others. One of his writing projects even is to collect stories of the Hotgo including knowledge of their cultures and traditions. So far, the book is dubbed "The Painted People". It's his way to keep a displaced tribe from fading into memories. -
I think the dominant appearance of Hyurs in primarily Lalafells nations like Mhachi or even the mummies in Lalafellan tombs in Warn is just so.... We can actually see and fight them in a party/raid setting >.>

Well in SE defence, we really don't know what Ala Mhigan 'aesthetic' is. We've seen the Fist of Rhalgr, who are wierdo religious cult esque group, and a heap of poor hobos, refugees and mercenaries. That said, I don't think it is that far-fetched beyond the 'flamboyant' aesthetic (once more for all we know it might be legit Ala Mhigan aesthetic >_>). Perhaps the RDM class was the 'upper' class type of job? Nobles ect? Ala Mhigans were after all super advanced compared to any other Eorzean city. So writing it off on "well they had to focus on survival" doesn't make exactly sense. They were a wartorn area, and if real life logic applies a little bit to it, nations who actively war then to progress quickly on warfare, so I don't see why it would be far-fetched to have RMD to have its origins there. I think we were all just thrown off by the fact it looks super flamboyant. Honestly, aesthetic wise I could have said Ishgardian, but alas. Maybe we're looking into it too deeply atm with Ala Mhigan influence. So far we only know Red Mages came from the ancestors of Amdapor and Mhachi, around the same region that houses Ala Mhigo, and if I recall correctly, they were primarily Midlander Hyurs and Lalafells. With Ala Mhigans being dominantly Highlanders, it could be as Sounssy stated, the Red Mages could have came before the Ala Mhigans, only to seclude themselves again as they came into power, which could explain their current 'absence'. I honestly don't see Ala Mhigans as the mage sort of society which they have focused so much on lancer legions and monks.

((This RP was done between Qara and I, with Qara NPCing a Captain presiding over Chakha's case.)) Zanzan would arrive in a rustic old office. It looked like the kind of place that would be a Captain’s cabin on a ship except it’s in the city of Limsa. Sitting at a desk made for a Seawolf was a Lalafell Plainsfolk woman in Maelstrom uniform. Storm Captain Jujudi Judi wasn’t the typical ship Captain. She was a treaty and code officer; an interpreter of laws for a city-state full of guidelines. She stood in her chair when Zanzan entered. It helped her see over the huge desk. After Zanzan had entered the office, he gave a quick glance around before letting out a deep sigh. He carried nothing else with him except for a satchel that hung from his shoulder as he treaded deeper into the office and stopping just in front of the desk. He met his eyes with the Captain before he offered a Maelstrom salute; straight hand to temple with a rigid posture. "Captain." He spoke in a formal tone before once more, letting out a deep sigh. "As stated in my letter, I... have come to speak on my own behalf as well as Chakha Hotgo's about our prior and current situation. You've... no doubt heard all about it, yes?" His tone quieted at his last words. Jujudi Judi smiles for a moment. It is hard to tell if it is sincere, or a mere polite gesture. “At ease Quartermaster Zanzan Yanzan. Aye, I know why you are here. You may sit.” She too lets herself sit. “You know who I am, but for the record I am Storm Captain Jujudi Judi, a treaty, signal and code officer of Maelstrom Command. I am one of three judges presiding over the case of Chakha Hotgo, but I can tell you now that I know how my fellows will decide. I have still not made up my mind on this case.” Zanzan allowed himself to ease somewhat with his posture relaxing as he took a seat in front of the Captain's desk. "Pray tell, what has been reported to you about the case? Only so that I would not need to repeat what has already been said." He began to move his satchel into his lap. Jujudi let out a sigh. “I have been playing catch-up with this whole mess. I have the leve plate for the leve in which Jenny Hellfist was killed, I have witness reports, reports on Gloam, limited records of your Captain Qara Hotgo, a letter from Qara Hotgo, a report from one Aigharn Kha about the airship that was battled at Gloam, a report from the tactics department made by Ojene Suinuet about a bunch of people I can only assume she wants dead or discharged; that includes Qara Hotgo and yourself…. I think that is everything. A whole mess of papers that are trying to give me the whole context of what the Hells is happening.” Zanzan inhaled a deep breath as the Captain lines out everything she had heard and read, only to exhale again once she had finished. Zanzan grows a pensive expression. "Miss Suinuet has... an ill repute as of late. I had initially gone to her, hoping to gain Chakha a fair sentence, or at the very least, aid. Such was not the case." Zanzan paused for a moment. "'Tis true that I had harbored Chakha away from the authorities, though out of fear that she would be sentenced to be hung, especially to satisfy the unrest of our fellow Limsans as of late." Zanzan took another pause as he broke his gaze from the Captain for just a brief moment. "As stated in the leve, it had given adventurers and mercenaries full permission to take Jenny's life if deemed necessary for its completion. While Chakha indeed took her life, 'twas not of her own desire, but that of her prior employers, the Syndicate." Jujudi looked to the papers then back to Zanzan. “I cannot charge you with harboring someone you helped to turn in! Miss Suinuet says you and Captain Qara admitted to such, and while some may applaud your willingness to take guilt, harboring a criminal means hiding them from the authorities until such time that the authorities apprehend the criminal. We didn’t because she turned herself in.” “Now, if there was evidence that you protected her from authorities, and in that time she committed more crimes, we would have a problem. But the killing of Jenny Hellfist was before she reunited with you and her sister, correct?” “As for the leve authorizing the killing of Hellfist, we have the semantics of what ‘necessary’ means. Blowing her away with a cannon before negotiations can even complete is not necessary by most standards. Her actions resulted in us losing the entire crew and a Galleon to piracy.” Zanzan winced at the mention of simply, overkill. "Correct, Qara and I have watched her closely since then. To my knowledge, she is not guilty of any other crimes. We've been committed to offering her a new life away from that." He then sighed, an act that has been much too common for the past several moons. He slipped out a letter before sliding it across the table to the Captain. "This was Chakha's order from the Syndicate. To resolve the situation involving Jenny Hellfist by any means necessary. Observing how her blockade damaged their profits, they wished for the matter to be resolved quickly. Knowing their practices... I believe they wished to exploit the leve." "I understand this by no means pardons or forgives Chakha for what she has done... But 'tis was not her willful intent or desire to kill Jenny. She has since then abandoned her previous employers and I only wish for her to be granted a new opportunity of an honest life." Jujudi speaks. "I understand you must abide by the words of the Admiralty's laws, but many of the Maelstrom and Limsans alike have committed piracy and acts that would be considered crimes today. Many of us can be find guilty, but 'tis what we do now that should judge us. Pray, allow her to make a new life for herself. Do not let her rot on a barge." Jujudi let out a sigh as she read the letter. “This would be easier if she gave us the bloody names of her employers.” She paused. “You have a loyalty to her like she is your own crew, yet she is not on any records. She’s some refugee. Not really a citizen of Limsa Lominsa. Part of me wonders if exile is the answer… If we don’t hang her, which I think is the wrong sentence - we don’t hang those who make mistakes on leves, and we don’t jail her for life, what do we do? What would you do has she committed such a crime on your ship? Limsa’s criminal background is true, but to control such people, we need strong enforcement of what laws we have. We need to scare pirates into check.” Zanzan hung his head as he thought and thought. "She is a refugee... But one that was alone and did what she needed to survive... Until we found her, until her sister found her. Zanzan peered back up to the Captain. "Then we must teach her. Let her do her part now to make up for her mistakes. She is new and needs a guiding hand. To speak true, I do not know what I would do if she were to commit another crime... But Qara and I are making sure that such an act would not happen again." Jujudi nodded then interlocked her fingers on her desk. “Aye, now, tell me, why did she turn herself in then? To make sure she stays under control, we have to know how she thinks.” "To make things right... Those were her words." Zanzan said simply. "But she doesn't feel guilty. We talked to her, and I am afraid of someone who can not feel guilt. That's likely what had Ojene so worried. So, Quartermaster Zanzan Yanzan, to make things right for whom?" Zanzan ponders for a moment. "Mayhaps... Make things right for those who suffered from her loss. Surely she had friends... family... And she was of Limsan blood. There were many that felt for her loss." The Captain sighs. "Are you trying to protect someone, or are you lying to me? Mayhaps you miss the obvious? The girl turned herself in because of her sister. Am I wrong?" There was a brief pause. "After livin' my whole life in Vylbrand, I know what makes people pirates, and it's rarely because they want to be at first. I don't think this girl -wanted- to be an assassin, but she has the mind of one. So what made her go from not givin' a damn to suddenly turning herself in when she could have fled? Only thing I see new is you and her sister. I really don't think she just suddenly felt guilt for everything." Zanzan gave out a deep sigh as he slouched over, burying his face into his hands. "Mayhaps 'tis me... or mayhaps 'tis only because of her sister... If she can change for her sister, mayhaps she can change for others. I cannot say for certain because only time will tell if 'tis a wise decision... Even if the we must bare its consequences, I wish to give her a chance yet." Jujudi taped her fingers on her desk as she pondered. “The way I see it, she owes Limsa Lominsa a debt. We can argue about morals all sun, but it won’t change the real problem here. She can’t be convicted of murder since the leve said she could. But her actions did cost us a lot. I can’t promise what the other two Captains will push for, but I’ll try to steer a course that ends with her repaying that debt instead of being killed, exiled or wasted away.” She paused. “There will likely be pain. Too many Limsans want to -see- the punishment. But mayhaps the biggest irony of all could be us using her to serve Limsa instead of Ul’dah. Turn the Syndicate asset into our own. I will consider that.” Zanzan gave out yet another sigh and hopefully the last for the night. It was both a relief to at least gain some sort of aid from one Captain yet he was still somewhat pained by the thought of a public punishment, one he knew his fellow Limsans would call for. "If she must serve Limsa and her people, then so be it." He spoke in a sincere tone. "It would still lighten my heart if she can live a 'free' life, so to speak. Thank you, Captain." "Freedom comes in many forms, Quartermaster. Hers may be better or worse than what she had before. But she won't rot in a gaol if I can help it." She sat back in her oversized chair. "It would be a waste of resources. And mayhaps... Someone who may surprise us. We will see." Zanzan sat there for a long and quiet moment with his gaze faced downwards. He then finally slid off from his chair before offering another Maelstrom salute. "I await for the new of her sentence then, Captain. Thank you again, for speaking with me." Jujudi stood in her chair and returned the salute. "Till sea swallows all, Zanzan Yanzan. Farewell."

A Letter to Ojene Suinuet of the Maelstrom Command. "Miss Suinuet, It has come to my attention that the Captain of the Revenge is also accused of the murder of Jenny Hellfist. But that is not so. I was attacked by the very same assassin that killed Hellfist. During their second attempt, I pulled from their body, a letter from the Syndicate ordering for the Hellfist situation to be dealt with. I am willing to offer my own testimony for this tale." Upon flipping over the letter, a more informally written passage can be found. "I know who the assassin is... They are dear to me now. I wish to ask them to aid me in clearing S'imba's name from this accusation... But pray, I wish to ask for a favor. If they are willing to testify, I wish to ask they be granted protection, or a pardon for their crime. 'Twas not of her own wants to kill Hellfist, but the commands of those in higher power. Pray... Understand."

Signing up for Styrmm's End! Probably as a Groundling, unless being a privateer of the Maelstrom's Foreign Leve still counts as an official in some regard. -
Aboard the Stormbreaker, anchored just off the shore of the island of Gloam Zanzan stood atop the railing of the top deck, the cold wind of the night battering against his body. His eyes were set on both the Haragin and Lalafells crewmen as they tended to the repairs and maintenance of the ship. Letting out a deep sigh, he waited and waited until finally, the small steps of a much older Lalafell approached from behind. "You called, Quartermaster?" The man calls up to Zanzan. "Mister Afade..." Zanzan nods slowly before hopping off to meet the man at eye-level. There was a moment of silence, as he held a somewhat somber expression. "How is the crew?" "Ah, well, that surgeon of yours is doing hells of a good work down there with the wounded... Though I can't say it's enough for a few of the lads. The bombs got them good." Zanzan's expression only saddens further as he lets out a heavy exhale, turning away from the view of the main deck with his eyes casting to the skies above. He stayed silent. Afade studies Zanzan for a moment, before sighing softly. "Don't weigh yourself down like that. I know you and the captain are new to leading a crew. But the lads knew what they were signing up for on this ship. I've seen me own fair share of losses; crew mates, friends... What matters most now is you honor their deaths, and don't be letting them die in vain. And the captain and yourself have done just that, saving all those people on that island. That's more than anything I've done in me entire life." Zanzan only lowers his gaze down to the floorboards. Afade paces up to him, giving him a firm pat on the shoulder while using a free hand to gesture towards to the island; it was lit bright in celebration as even the feint sounds of music and cheers can be heard by their Lalafellan ears. "Look at that. You should be over there with the Captain. Heralding your victory and all that. I'll be betting those people down there are waiting to thank more of their heroes. Let me worry about getting this ship seaworthy again." Zanzan sighs deeply again, growing a soft smile as h e finally sets his eyes back on the island. "You are right, Mister Afade. We did the best we can, and we won... I'll make certain the names of those lost will be sung and remembered beyond the seas and more. Even to the stars." Afade lets out a hearty chuckle as he shakes his head to himself. "Aye, you can get back to that writing and singing. But keep with that attitude. Good for morale and all." Zanzan finally begins to make his way off from the top deck as he gestures for a cutter. He pauses for a moment then grins widely back to Afade. "Oh, ah, and make sure the crew gets their share of celebrations. Captain's orders... Though I shall say there will be no limits to the rum tonight. I'm certain the Captain would understand." Afade beams with a wide grin. "Aye. But don't be blaming me if they get piss drunk and slow down on the repairs."

((A bit time-displaced. A follow-up post http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=17399&pid=282443#pid282443 Much thanks to Kiht/Qara for editting the RP!)) Dry docks in Southern La Noscea, early morning. Zanzan Yanzan was leaning with his back against the stone wall of a drydock building; waiting patiently for the arrival of a certain group. Many ticks after the meeting time, Qara Hotgo approached with the group of Xaela in tow. Most of them wore tribal rags that were were dirty, weathered and torn. The Lalafell peered towards the group as they made their approach. "Ah! You've all made it! I worried if it would have taken longer. Uncle can be quite... Impatient, as you would know, Qara." He then regarded the rest of the group, offering a broad smile. "Greetings to you all! I am Zanzan Yanzan! Surely Qara has spoken about me, yes?" Qara smiled. However, most of the rest looked at him with their faces resting in neutral scowls. Only the girl beside Qara responded. "Yes, she says you be second in command." "I told them a little about you, yes." Qara answered. "Oh... Ah... Just a little?" He sounded mildly disappointed, pouting for just a brief moment before smiling again. "Right then! This appears quite the friendly group!" He said, despite all the scowls. "Mayhaps... We shall start with some names?" He peered to each one with anticipation. Qara turned to the group. The one beside Qara bowed. "Nergui Ejinn." The others just stood there. "Tell him your names!" Qara shouted abruptly then turned back to Zanzan with a smile. Some grumbled their names, a few stepped up and clearly stated theirs. One noteworthy male who had a different kind of horn on each side of his head smiled and spoke. "Möngö Haragin." Zanzan ducked momentarily at the sudden shouting, then cleared his throat as the others grumbled out their names. "Right then! Nergui, Mongo, and.. the rest! A pleasure to meet you all! Now, let us meet the man who will be aiding in the ship's construction!" As they made their way up to the building docks, they found two Lalafell men standing, glancing over a rough blueprint. The area was already busy with activity, as dockworkers moved and readied the construction materials. Zanzan began to pace over towards the two, calling out, "Uncle! My apologies! We're---". He was quickly cut off as Bobobo spun right around to face the group. "Late ye are! What did I tell yah!? I ain't got all sun and moons for yer lazy arse!" Qara Hotgo stepped up, and cleared her throat as she smiled at Bobobo. She made an Othard-style bow. "Not his fault. Is mine. I had to get the crew ready. Keeping watch on time is a new thing for Xaela. In Othard, we only had the sun and moon." Bobobo regarded Qara then smirked widely before letting out a hearty laugh. "I just like ta give me nephew shite, is all. Now... This is yer crew? Ta be honest... Ye all looked like ye just washed up ashore." She blinked. ".......They did. No ship means we have to swim a lot." She spoke in a tone that made it hard to tell if she was jesting. "Both them and me need a lot more things and work to be ready." Bobobo nodded firmly, "Well then! Yer all be workin' with me and Salba Valba." He paced back to the other Lalafell before giving him a hard pat on the back. Salba peered around for a moment, his attention finally averted from the rough blueprints. He wore more formal clothing, and donned glasses that featured different lenses of magnifications that made his eyes appear comically much larger than they actually were. "Ow..." Salba simply stated. Salba then studied the group with discerning eyes. "Pray tell me you all know how to build a ship." Qara glanced back to the group. “Bow.” She commanded, and Nergui repeated the word in Xaela, and the group bowed. Mongo stepped forth. “I and some others know how to build boats…” He pointed to one of the dry-docked ships. “But those? Only in legend did the Haragin build those. We can listen and learn. We can carve and shape the wood without mistake, but to build a ship… That is new to us.” Salba studied them for a moment longer, tilting his head left and right then grunts. "That'll do I suppose. We're going to be building a Catamaran. A large one at that. If you think those ships are legend, you'll be seeing a true one in the making." He nods. "I expect you to pay attention to every single detail of construction out there. I've a record to hold, and this ship will not fail, got it?" Most of the Xaela seemed unmoving aside from glances they casted at each other. One muttered “what is a cataman?”. “A cat man? That’s not a boat…” Another answered. Qara cleared her throat. “Two large boats stuck together to make a ship. Listen to him! Maybe you don’t know him, or care about his record. I know you all might not know what to think about Lalafell… But this ship is going to be your life. All most of you can give is hands, and in trade, they make you a ship. Respect them, and together you can make the Haragin legend real.” Salba watched Qara with a stoic expression. He then looked to Bobobo, nodding with a grunt. "Work will begin soon once the details have been ironed out." He called out before resuming his work on the blueprints. Bobobo looked up at the Haragin. "Listen 'ere. This is me nephew. He's good at sailin' but I ain't really sure if ye lot are! You can speak about legends and stories like me nephew, but I'll hafta see yer sailin' with me own eyes. So! I've gathered some folk ta be crewin' with all of ye. True sailors! Oi! Get over 'ere!" A group of several Lalafells by the far wall behind the tribe pushed themselves up and off the ground as they began to approach. Contrastingly to the Haragin, they wore well-fitted clothing for seafaring travel. Some even carried axes on their shoulders. Muttering broke out between the group of Xaela. “How do these tiny people sail anything?” One asked. Qara turned to the group. “Who asked that?” The group paused and looked at her. “Back home I rode a horse better than any man because I was less heavy. To guide horses is not about weight or strength.” She paused. “But if you still do not believe, wait and see.” "I like her." A voice escaped from the Lalafellan crew. The source paced out to reveal an older Lalafell, with the only indication of his age being his mustache, and some greys in his hair. "I'm gonna assume you’re going to be the Captain of this new ship, aren't yah?" Qara turned to him and nodded. "Qaratai Hotgo. Captain Qara or Captain Hotgo will work." She paused as she surveyed the Lalafell; she was going to be their Captain too... "The Haragin are new here, but they chose me to be Captain. Zanzan will be Quartermaster. You didn't chose us yet, but if you do, this ship will be yours as much as it will be the Haragin's." The Lalafell offered a smile then nodded. "From Captain to Captain." He gave a sailor's salute. "Well, I ain't a Captain any longer. I thought I can retire and put the sea behind me, but it is where I was born, and where I will choose to die. And hopefully not too soon, hah!" He nodded again. "Afede Jafede. You have our services for the time being... The next few moons will decide if we stay, or we leave. Don't disappoint, -Captain-." He said more so in a sincere way. Qara bowed her head for a moment. "The next moons will decide a lot. You will be part our mission to save people, stop a war and maybe be part of a story people will tell their children and great children." "Hah, sounds more exciting than casting lines and and smelling like fish all my years before. But be it pirates, sagahin, and storms, my people have crossed seas many times over. We'll see if those scaled cloud-breathers over there still think they're better than us." Many of the Lalafells began to grunt 'threateningly' towards the Haragin. Mongo just smirked and rolled his eyes as Nergui took a posture which portrayed her discomfort. The others, however, were not so dismissive. “Is cloud-breather insult?” One muttered. “Are the ground-fruit trying to start a fight? I can’t tell.” Another spoke. “They will be hard not to trip over during battle.” "Ground-fruit!? Hah, that's a new one!" One Lalafell spoke up. "Oi, why not let us use those horns to hang our coats while we do all the hard work!" Another one called out. The group began to pace up to the tribe, though Afede simply stayed where he was at. "Mayhaps it is time to give your first order, Captain." Zanzan loud whispered to Qara. Qara leaned over to Zanzan. "Okay, Quartermaster, what order is that? Time to do your job too. Back home I would make them wrestle, but they won't work so well after that... Hurt legs and bruised heads are bad for building things." "If they are so keen on proving themselves, mayhaps a round of free drinks to those who can transport the most lumber and sails for the ship. I am sure Salba and Uncle Bobobo would think better for quickening the work outside of building." She nodded then stepped up to the squabbling crew. “You want to fight? Maybe that will prove some things, but you are all just refugees and ex-sailors until this ship is made, yes?!” She spoke loudly and clearly. “Prove yourself making this ship. The ones who can get the most wood and sails to where Bobobo needs them gets free drinks. Waste your time fighting if you want, but the ones who start working now get a head-start… The rest of you get sore muscles. Choose now. No more arguing.” Bobobo regarded the crew then pointed towards the west. "We still got lumber and metal tat needs carryin' over 'ere. Ta faster ye get them, the faster we can start workin' on this ship!" The Lalafell crew suddenly began to move towards the area directed at them, their sensitive hearing catching Bobobo's command from afar. The Haragin mutter between each other. In their poverty-stricken time in Eorzea, they had found the value in spirits and ales. Most of them quickly moved to follow. Bobobo closed in and swung a firm smack against Zanzan's back. "Oi, ye gonna stand around and pretend ye don't exist? Get ta helpin' too." Zanzan let out a deep sigh then regarded Qara and Nergui, "If you need any assistance... Do ask." Bobobo called out, "And stop yer flirtin'!" Qara smiled at Zanzan. "We will ask if we need help." She spoke at casual volume then lowered her voice to a whisper. "Or to save you." She snickered. Zanzan huffed then deflated quickly at that truth. "Pray, do so...."
