1. I use Photoshop CS6 exclusively. Have dipped around in SAI from time to time trying to convince myself that I like it but I don't. I have a tonne of brushes and like to experiment with different ones all the time but right now I'm using a brush called 'silk and satin' from this set! I have a very specific painting set up where I will pretty much do all the shading on one layer which I will then set to multiply or linear burn or what have you, and then colour underneath on a seperate layer. Then I'll have a layer on top of all THAT where I make little detailing adjustments. THEN on top of all THAT I'll have a set of adjustment layers where I fix things like levels, textures, ambient colour, whatever else. Here's what my layers looked like on the above: I'm pretty sure that, since your icon is of a Miqo'te, you are the one who is soft and beautiful. Awesome! Thank you so very much for being so detailed!
2. [] Note: We are still looking for people, and we are Rank 8 as an FC!
3. Beautiful works here! I wanted to ask if you had the time, is there a certain brush pack you prefer to work with? If you work in photoshop? If not, what is your process? I've been trying to get a good contrasty-feel to my own work, I think Ive started it using Adobe Illustrator, but I'm still learning. :3
4. "A new dawn breaks, as the Empire, though beaten back by the forces of the Warrior of Light, still looms in the far uncharted reaches of the world. The legions of Garlemald were dealt a fairly heavy blow when the Black Wolf fell, yet they aim to strike back, with even greater and more formidable power in the times to come. Ala Mhigan refugees continue to cling to hope, and pray that Rhalgr will allow them to retake their homeland--by any force necessary. But with more opposition, comes even a more stalwart defense. The Legion of Solace, founded by a young Garlean pure blood defector and his friends who had given him a chance to prove himself, aims to create this legion as one of the many shields and blades in this on-going war. As well as provide solace--a home and family, to those who need shelter from Garlemald and its legions. Ala Mhigan refugees, Doman refugees, even Garlean defectors would be welcomed with open arms, as long as they have proof that they have Eorzea and the city-states well-being in mind. The Legion of Solace would also offer magitek to aid those who would need aid--limbs, body parts, and more. This would also include supply of war-machines, such as magitek armor to other smaller city-state aligned groups for a bit of leverage in the war. So will you lay down and allow the Empire to enslave us all, or will you fight for your freedom?" ABOUT Currently the linkshell 'Legion of Solace' serves as an OOC linkshell that connects to the Legion of Solace FC. We aim to make this LS a 50/50 IC and OOC LS later on as the RP around the formation of the Legion of Solace becomes more solidified. As of right now, it is purely OOC for the members and friends of the Legion of Solace FC, but we are taking people who are interested in becoming FC members, just know that recruitment and RP surrounding the FC will be very slow, as I am in my last semester of college until May 27th, so I am devoting most of my time to that. Other RP will be around, but FC-related stuff may not come until a little later. FEATURES Legion of Solace is a 50/50 IC/OOC Linkshell. We will be interchanging OOC and IC once the FC itself gets more solidified, and the Linkshell will be an IC one given out by Lucius when the time comes. For now, it is primarily OOC for friends and members of the FC. Read 'ABOUT' for more information. RULES Please see Rules tab on this thread before asking to join. HOW WILL MY CHARACTER FIND THE PEARL IC? Right now, it is undecided. It will be given out by Lucius at some point when things are getting solidified. Further information will be given when the time comes. HOW DO I GET IN? Please get a hold of Lucius Ignatius In-Game. You can also message these people: - Soran Naere - Fan'rei Shain - S'raku Tia - Kohda'to Relanah - Arylisse Dayhelm - Rokka'sae Dhni Some do not have permissions to invite, however they can pass on word that someone is looking to join. You do not need to be a part of the FC to join the LS, but it is preferred. If you are looking to join both the FC and LS, please fill out an application here: www.guilded.gg/#!AiYEY5YkEd You may also post in this thread and I will try to check it every so often. I apologize ahead if I don't see it right away. Feel free to poke me in my inbox here if you can't get me anywhere else!
5. No longer owner of Mist Apartment in Topmast Ward 10, Room 15.
6. Is it possible to just sign up for a random gift, with certain items excluded? (As in, I dont have an apartment, so I wouldn't really use housing items all that much. )
7. *Stares at avatar* *looks at own picture* *looks at Abelia's chest* Lol . .exact clones Rofl!
8. A large image of the completed Garlean Social Hierarchy Chart can be found here! This one covers the titles in far more detail than the compilation from Gubal. Note that the lore book lists ordinary citizens as "Bas" whereas Gubal lists them as "Ban." We believe "Bas" is a typo. These quotes above give us some insight into how House Darnus achieved Garlean nobility in the transition from Republic to Empire, but I just spent the last half hour combing google for some text I seem to recall from the 1.0 Lodestone suggesting that many of Garlemald's current "nobility" are members of the original founding Republic families. While this, in all likelihood, is not a requirement for nobility it could be a tidbit you consider when creating your own House of Garlemald. It's then just a matter of deciding what position your character would hold in the Garlean hierarchy- and remember, if multiple titles apply to a single person, the higher title is always taken. More lore on Garlemald and its history and military found outside of the lore book's pages can be found in this Garlean Lore Compilation. Hope this helps! ^^ That is great! Thank you so much Sounsyy!
9. Ah, this answers everything perfectly for me. Of course the discussion helps as well, but I wanted to be sure I wasnt accidently stepping too far with that rank. It appears I was, so it wont be a rank Ill be using. I always like to be certain of my lore before diving in. It just appeared to me that wir would be the title for /nobles/ and royalty, but that appears not to be the case. Thank you Faye! Edit: Reading into some of the roman definitions of the ranks, I think /tol/ might be what I am looking for. I am aiming for Lucius to be a young man of nobility, has a rich family, etc. Kind of like a batman character that uses magitek devices and spying. For a lack of better comparison. "The post was created by the Marian reforms. Its holder stood just below the legatus legionis, the legion's commander, and above the other five tribuni angusticlavii (and later the praefectus castrorum). The position was the first step of the traditional cursus honorum, the formalized sequence of public offices held by Roman nobles of the senatorial class (conversely, the tribuni angusticlavii were knights). Thus the tribunus laticlavius would usually be a young man who might belong to one of the richest families in Rome or be a close friend to the legionary commander. After two or three years in the army he would go back to Rome and be given a government job, usually a quaestorship." - Wikipedia
10. Interesting... what would one of a noble house have as a middle-rank then? Or would it fall to what the characters profession is in combat or trade, perhaps? Sorry if its a silly question. @-@
11. Hey there! Ive recently returned, and Ive decided I wanted to try a concept that I've seriously, SERIOUSLY wanted to do, but I didnt want to level a character again and do all those shenanigans. Basically, I'm wondering how Garlemald's nobility works. I would /think/ its similar to Ishgard's with houses and such.. but I know Garleans are similar to Romans. Is there houses like that? Could there be more than a few noble houses that are pretty much 'general' un-named noble houses? The question came up when I was asked what my character's 'middle' rank was. I looked at this from the FF14 Wiki: The ranks observed so far: Royalty: zos: Emperor yae: Member of the royal family in the line of succession. wir: Member of the royal family with no claim to the throne. Military: van: Legatus tol: Tribunus laticlavius or Tribunus militum sas: Tribunus angusticlavius or Praefectus castrorum rem: Primus pilus or Pilus prior quo: Primi ordines or Centurion pyr: Optio, Tesserarius or Decurion oen: Duplicarius or Legionarius Specialists: nan: Chief engineer or engineer mal: Primus medicus or senior magitek technician lux: Chief medicus or magitek technician kir: Senior medicus or senior technician jen: Medicus or technician Public Officials: iyl: Dictator or Princeps senatus het: Consul, Praetor, Tribunus plebis, Aedilis, or Quaestor goe: Censor dus: Lictor Unknown: fae eir The majority of citizens bear the ban title and those who appear to be well respected artisans have adopted the title cen. aan is a title bestowed on the people of annexed territories and they lack even the basic rights of the citizens. People of annexed territories can gain citizenship for a display of exceptional skill or 20 or more years of military service. Would my character have to have the 'wir' rank to be considered nobility? Im not trying to be related to the emporer, or that specific family. I just want to have my own unofficial noble house. Similar to a keeper clan or tribe. Is this doable without lore-breaking?
12. Hey there! I've recently decided to change my main into a Garlean--however, he's going to end up being an Eorzean sympathizer later on in his storyline. If anyone wants to approach or do stuff with him, feel free. :3 Open to questions too.
13. 1. Thavnarian Set 2. Wind-up Leviathan 3. Orchcestrion
14. Hi there and welcome to the site! I had seen your RP search thread; but decided I'd post here. Most people on the site play/RP on the game, unfortunately. I'm uncertain if this is the best the place to find an RP partner in the manner you would seek. By all means, you can try, but I wanted to pass this along in case you were unaware. ^^; Good luck though!
15. Greg Ayres/Son Goku (Saiyuki) in specific for Kiht. Lots of inspiration from Goku~~!
16. Currently my character has been stricken with temporary blindness via a curse. It can be fun, but I echo Ashe's sentiments. My character had been using aethersight to try and counter it, but someone notified him of the taxes it can take on his body, so he doesnt use it unless he must. It can be fun to use a staff as a walking stick/prodder. Often I use it to make a little comedic relief by accidently resting it on someones tail or 'poking' in places innapropriately due to my characters inexperience in blindness. I've also seen a technique used by blind persons who 'click' their tongues in a way that its kind of like... Im uncertain how to describe it, but its sorta how bats can tell where to go in daylight or in general darkness; the clicking gives off soundwaves or somsuch that allows the person to sort of 'see' the object by bouncing the soundwaves... I might be wrong on some of this; but it could potentially be an interesting route for a blind character. I would look up this stuff on the clicking, but my phone is being weird atm x.x
17. I'd love to meet your Keeper! Feel free to poke me in game if you see me--or approach!
18. Hehe, I've considered the possibility of a younger brother for Kiht'a, however Kiht'a is actually only 18. @_@ he has two adopted brothers, but depending on whether you wanted blood relation, I'm unsure how you'd want to do that if you decided you wanted to play as his blood-related older-brother? I didn't see any responses, so I figured I would put something out there! Note: Currently my playtimes will vary as I've recently begun my online spring semester. During the summer months I should be around more. I am typically on a little every day though unless workload gets busier than usual.
19. I am very sorry to hear this Zola. My condolences to you and yours. We'll be here when you return.
20. Exactly! :3 Ayse Esen is who you want to look for, in regarding her plot. I'm unsure if she can be found on the RPC, but if I can get her myself, Ill let her know you're looking for people!
21. Hi there! I believe there is actually a small slave-trade plot going on with a character called Ayse (forgive me, I forget her last name!) Who is trying to find her brother to free from them. I am not sure if they would be willing, but perhaps you could work out something with her? Im not at the cpu atm, or I would check the name. But, if you are around later I could try asking her about it if you'd like.
22. I think it would be accurate to say that Phayte is two-faced. The problem has always been that the public outlets only allow for one face to be sociably acceptable for her situation. I have to guess that there are others who face the same dilemma as me. You wouldn't know she's a bad girl given the interaction we had the other night, so yes, it is very likely she could end up using you. It's my vehicle of choice to be evil but not shunned by a majority of people. Because if Phayte was just openly mean to you, you probably would walk away and not want to talk with her ever again. I'm not quite as smooth as some other criminals who remain notorious but well sought out still. A place like this would at least allow her real colors to come out from time to time. And as Franz mentioned, I actually have acquired the house already and trying to explore different ways to use it. Hehe, usually the best villains are the ones you cannot tell are right in front if you. I have faced the same dilemma in WoW where, it was difficult to be openly evil in cities, where most congregated. I used the excusdle for finding people to use, as well. Behind closed doors, my orc rogue is so much more villanous. But, yes. That is the best way to get Kiht to do anything remotely 'evil'. Im glad to hear you have the house! :3 I will try to spread the word around about your thread if I happen to see any villanous-tagged RPers. I actually may know an FC in particular that may be good to get in touch with. I dont remember their name, but Ill let you know asap. :3
23. I think she's already got the house, just trying to figure out what to do with it. -- On a side note, one could just say that the OOC location in Lavender Beds is just how to access it, leaving the housing instance to be located anywhere else! The same way people may have designed "Ishgardian rooms" before having Ishgardian housing. Oh! Durp. I just woke up, so I may have misread things rofl! I agree with the location thing. That is what was done with WoW Garrisons for guilds in my experience ohce Blizzard locked them to one zone. X.x
24. Hi Phayte! You know Kiht'a is verrrry far from the evil spectrum, but I was very pleased to see in your tag that your character has evil 'motives'. Im not quite sure how I could help with those, but, if you happen to want to weave Kiht into some things (perhaps, weasel him into things that could potentially harm others without him knowing or something; often times he can be fairly gullible, and Phayte sort've becoming his 'friend' would make him want to help her to make her 'happy' as long as its not obvious what her goal is. X3) As far as a house, I think its a wonderful idea, but good luck getting one in the market these days. X.x
