No problem! I'm happy to have helped. DRK, I honestly don't know much about. I think that one is pretty open to be--I /believe/ it just works on the characters psyche or using powers of darkness as a kind of uh... psudeo power for good? Someone else would have better idea than I for that one. ^^ Other than that, I think its pretty safe to assume none of our characters are chosen ones/'THE warrior of light'. One thing to mention, I think people CAN have the echo, but with recent lore hinting that the echo is a type of primal tempering, Im unsure of the status on that. One last bit of info: I play a Pureblood Garlean who became a refugee/works for the Ironworks and such. These days, I think its safe to assume there may be some unrest between the political climate in Garlemald, between the viewpoints of the Populares and Optimates--Populares are moreso the group that wants peace with the Eorzeans, while the latter wants subjugation and conquest. So, you may see spies and refugees from that region. They would still be seen with extreme distrust and hatred to most common Eorzeans, though. Probably not exactly on topic, but I figured it'd be helpful to know in case! ONE LAST THING: Sometimes you can bend the lore a little or fill in blanks if you find nothing on the subjects. The most important thing to remember is to enjoy yourself and have fun!

Hey there! Good to see more roleplayers about. I consider myself fairly adjusted to the lore, but there might be others here that could offer more assistance. If I happen to be wrong (@ anyone who reads and responds) please correct me! From what I've witnessed, the major ones seem to be stay away from being an actual "Black Mage" or "White Mage" in name. Mind, its been a while since I looked these up, but I think it stems from how rare it is to see either 'power level' of these jobs around. For example (and I'm paraphrasing) WHM's quest lore mentions you were the first non-Padjali WHM in a very long period of history due to the elementals taking away the powers of Succor from Man, and left it only to the seed seers/Padjali. And the reason you get your hands on a WHM soulstone is due to a padjali who was near the end of his life and sought to pass on the power--or something like that. It was a one of a kind occurence, and there's few other ways (currently) to obtain power of a WHM. Supposedly there are insidious ways to obtain it hinted by devs, but we've not yet seen that indicated. Also, Seedseers/Padjali rarely venture from the Shroud/Gridania because I think they are it's protectors or somesuch--I haven't seen too much 'good' reaction from majority of RPers reacting to someone playing one. BLM is essentially in a similar boat. It suffers from the "chosen one" kind of trope, where you the player are the only one capable of tapping into the powers of void. If you decide to try these jobs, it is still possible and widely acceptable to call yourself an accomplished Conjurer or Thaumaturge. ^^ One other job would be Dragoon that is more recently sparse to play IC. While pre-Heavensward it would be okay, I think the Dragoons have been a select task force of people trained for a certain purpose--after the events of Heavensward, I believe no 'new' Dragoons would be taken in. There is a possibility to find a dragoon who retired their dragoon status and trained you, but it'd make more sense to call yourself a good lancer. I think the lore bending can be a bit lax here though. But, I think for the most part, that's the big ones I've seen. If you plan to play a Seeker or Keeper miqo'te, they do have their cultural/tribal society differences, but thats a whole thread on its own. Here is a link to a few lore sources in general if you need it (I posted this via my phone so it might not work :x)

Hi there! Thought I'd put this up since its been a while. I jumped on the carrd bandwagon like most have--it is really easy to make and update them! But anyway, I am not open to RP right away! Right now Lucius is out fighting on the warfront at the Ghimlyt, and should return sometime mid to late May, depending on my college work. Its mostly an IC reasoning for extended OOC abscence on my part. I would simply like to find more contacts for when he returns. I will give discord info if asked! If you have any questions, concerns, anything, please don't be afraid to ask here or in a PM. I apologize in advance if it takes me some time to check back and answer you. If you see me idling IG, poke me there too! All hooks, information on Lucius and myself can be found on the carrd. \o/ If you have trouble with the site or if you find any broken stuff/issues, please let me know too! Its a constant WIP. https://arebel.carrd.co/

Garlean Defector Looking for Long Term Rp Partner
Lucius Ignatius replied to Aristaux's topic in Chronicled Connections
Interesting character! A shame we're not on the same server though. Maybe when the visiting system is up, we'll have to meet. :3 -

Roleplay speed in a scene with multuple players(more than 4)
Lucius Ignatius replied to Kallera's topic in RP Discussion
I think this is a good way to go about it, in all honesty. Ours took... about 3-4 months, with some hiccups with people being busy, some minor disagreements between players at some points (which, all in all got solved). We wanted it to roughly begin at the beginning of Early Access of Stormblood, to about the beginning/mid of August. It wound up taking up until mid September, but generally it was well worth the slow pace, albeit most of us were really aching to get I.G. and RP. It was difficult for us because a lot of us didn't even have access to certain Stormblood areas, which a lot of them took place. We had an idea to just do PVE content for maybe.. the first two months so we could get things unlocked/enjoy content, while those first two months were done in Discord, and the rest was to be done I.G. but unfortunately none of that worked out as planned. We had a lot of on-the-fly changes to our original plan, based on the needs of our campaign team. -
Roleplay speed in a scene with multuple players(more than 4)
Lucius Ignatius replied to Kallera's topic in RP Discussion
That's kind of what I did when I did an RP event that had about a dozen people involved (including myself). We split off the group into three "teams" each. I led one and my two support DMs covered the other two. During that, the support DMs had a general idea of what events might happen and basically ran with it as they wanted, and shot me questions via tells and the like when they weren't sure of something. Yep, exactly what we did. Though we just had myself and my friend doing a co-DM... support DMs would have been a godsend, haha. I always like to just have a 'set path', but the players in the campaign can deviate however they would like within their general, reasonable restrictions. I like to see what they will come up with to get to that point. -
Roleplay speed in a scene with multuple players(more than 4)
Lucius Ignatius replied to Kallera's topic in RP Discussion
Generally it's a pretty difficult thing to do. This is coming from someone who recently ended a discord plot with about a group of... about 5-8 people. I was co-DMing with another friend of mine, and it was a lot of stop-go-stop-go between replies. We didn't necessarily have a post order, but we did try to allow everyone to post back to each other before moving on to the next part. We almost had about 10 people--and if we did, I don't think between the both of us, we could've carried on the way we did. What we did do, as DM's, is section off half of the group, I took one half, and my co-DM took the other. There was certain things going on with one group, and certain things with the other. But in the end, we ended up pulling them together and connecting the groups with fill-in storytelling on both sides. Combat was typically free form, but at the end, we had a post order with a custom combat system based on D&D rolls--we used a discord bot for rolls instead. I don't know if that helps, but I hope it helps a little! A thing to note: Due to time zones, it was impossible for everyone to be on that the same time, so a few of us had to just respond when we could, and make sure it was enough to reply to. Between my DM friend and I, I don't believe we will be attempting this set up again, unless we have more DM management and a better set up. We did as good as we were able, but overall it wasn't ideal in the least. -
Generally I tend to be open and accepting of almost anyone within certain bounds--I give anyone the benefit of the doubt until I know them better. That being said, after being in multiple RP communities over the years, I've come to know quite a few Red Flags. I'll put a few that come to mind for now (hopefully these don't come off as peevish!), but I may think of more later. A lot of these have been mentioned I'm sure, but I'd like to add my two cents. FC/Guild Cliques. Pretty much the typical High School kind, except within a guild or FC. The kind that officers/guild leaders form, and they always treat anyone who joined the guild/FC as lesser players/RPers, or supporting characters in almost any RP or plot. A good FC/Guild finds ways to attempt to include everyone, not treat them as a number. Its why some larger FC/Guilds aren't always that great, because you tend to be on the side lines. Characters that constantly cause IC drama and pull almost everyone on the server into it, and when caught, never take consequences seriously, or allow a final resolution to their conflict. I'm not saying there can't be evil doers or large evil plots--those can be awesome! But, when playing an evil character, I think you should consider a more 3-dimensional approach. Other than saying 'they are evil' or possessed, or 'willingly' evil because of power--that's all well and good, but they should have a deeper motive than this, in my opinion. I'm not trying to attempt to tell someone 'how' to RP, but all I ask is to keep the players who are interacting with you in mind. If you are a hero going against a villain, it isn't fun to see your RP have no long-term effect (at least to some extent--not trying to say villains should always be repressed, but villains should consider permanent changes to their character in various ways so that the hero's RP doesn't feel wasted to that player). I also think heroes should take some losses too where appropriate, just make sure neither side's RP feels like its worthless or constantly on-going without some consequence. I could see if it was a common thief that steals things from time to time, thats fine. But villains who murder/maim/etc. without care, you should expect to be thwarted for good at some point. Being involved in these types of scenarios often across many games, have lead me to be somewhat selective in who I go after in terms of IC conflict. Partners who do not communicate OOC. For the love of all that is good, please communicate when something is wrong. I have had people who do not say a word through out their RP, before or after the sessions. Sometimes it isn't needed, but after RPing down a certain path, and the person says nothing, or says 'everything is fine', and later on ends up attempting to force a path on you that wasn't discussed at all/you happen to not agree with and then says 'Well...' at the very end--that kind of player I refuse to continue RPing with after the first whiff of it. I'd consider this one of my largest of all red flags. I am totally fine with changing courses or retconning things, but I want communication where it matters--don't continue on and force things without asking or telling your partner how you feel. Don't wait until the last minute/post to say something. Most partners (if they are good RPers, in my opinion) will understand and work with you if you speak up. If not, then they aren't worth your time. I understand that IC should come before OOC decisions, but in these cases, speak up. Partners who lash out at you/be passive aggressive/take things the wrong way when you are expressing your feelings on the RP in a constructive manner/won't analyze what you are trying to say. To elaborate a little on this: say you have been in a plot or RP for a good while (maybe 3-4 months IRL time), things aren't going in a way that you feel comfortable with IC, after trying to resolve things IC and some minor OOC questioning, so you speak up to try explaining your problems in a constructive, calm way. You are met with the person suddenly accusing you of various things and instant hate, when all you were trying to do was explain you do not feel comfortable with certain things in said RP. You -liked- the RP and the people involved, but you wanted to try talking things out so you could perhaps continue, but you have the person greet you with hostility. Again, communication is always key for me. If someone refuses to communicate where it matters or cant have a civil conversation about things, that is a huuuuuuge red flag to me. Futas, F-lists... all that kind of deal. I'm okay with stating character sexual preferences in the note tab, and the whole M/D RP thing, but if someone approaches with a clear intent to score an ERP, I will see how they RP first. If my character is involved with someone, he will not see anyone for that reason, period. If they start badgering me OOC, thats when I start shifting away. If they try getting to know my character and they aren't too pushy/my character isn't involved and they are generally easy to speak to OOC, I may consider a romantic arc. But not off the bat. There is more I am sure. But these are some big ones I haven't seen posted.

What server is it on: Balmung Housing Area: Shirogane Ward + Room Number: Ward 11, Room #36 Owner's Name/Who to Contact: Lucius Ignatius Title if it has one: Home & Workshop (of Lucius Ignatius) What the purpose is: Serves as an IC home for Lucius, as well as his magitek workshop/office. Flyers can be posted up for characters to find to drop by if they need anything regarding customary magitek works (within certain limits). He works with machinery, as well as limb prosthetic/various other magitek-health things. He thinks outside the box, and may do something that could be considered unorthodox to save a life. When is it open?: Typically locked, so please send a tell if you see me online with you knocking, and I can have Lucius stop over. (Note: I am EST hours, but I am on varied times. If I know you are going to be around certain hours, I can try to gear myself to be online at your convenience. Questions/etc, feel free to send a PM to me here as well.

Dude! Thank you -so- very much for taking that time to explain all of that. It was certainly eye opening! They just recently taught us how to use the grisaille technique in my last Digital Media course--to be honest, I don't think they explained things as well as you did. I can certainly see how it can be used now; it is certainly effective! The eyedropper blending is also something my reeeally awesome digital painting instructor a few semesters ago taught us. I used to use the blur tool as a way to blend; the eyedropper is great! Once again, thank you very much for taking that time. It was so educational.

Questions for Warren: 1. If you could save only one of the current city state leaders, who would it be and why? 2. If you could take a diplomatic approach to asking Bahamut/Nael van Darnus 'not' to cause the Calamity, what would you say to try and convince them? 3. Favorite dress code?
-
Questions for Vilette Laurent: 1. If you were given an item of great power, so much so that it would rival the destruction of the Calamity, but you can use it for good (healing, curing any illness in Eorzea, etc)/bad (destruction, etc.), how would you use it/would you keep it hidden away, or use it on friends/enemies? 2. One super-power, and one super-weakness. What would they be? 3. What is your worst character trait?
-
Questions for Roen: 1. If you could choose to be any other race than what you were born as, what would you choose and why? 2. What would your ideal life be like when you would retire from an adventurers status/settle down? 3. What do you hate more, Voidsent or Garleans?
-
Rofl! @_@ Yeah, that doooes make sense. I derped. I started the thread before I went to bed, thats what I get. *dies* But, three questions for anyone in the thread works better! I just wanted everyone to be able to get some questions asked/answered. XP 1. To see the world, travel, and live a life away from Garlemald's influences and propaganda. I also had a dream to become a great engineer, like Cid Garlond, but I knew I'd never get that good. 2. It'd probably have to be a toy dragon carved out of wood that I was given by a slave friend. She was an Au Ra, from the eastern shores. I couldn't free her, but I tried my best when I could to give her decent food and water, before my father locked me in my room to work on things for him all the time. 3. I tend to like rather frilly dresses, and extravagant clothing when wearing something that is supposed to be 'formal'.

Beautiful works! May I ask what kind of software you use? I happen to be an art student going for my bachelors (now) so I'm always looking for new things to try. I've mostly used Photoshop/Corel Painter 2017, but I've also been using Paint Tool Sai as of recent. And if you have the time, may I ask what your basic 'process' would be when making an artwork for yourself? (As in, your beginning stages, middle stages, end, etc. I really like how soft the tones change in the face with however you are blending. Marvelous. ) Purely for educational use. :3

I thought of this the other day, thinking it might help people give their characters some depth, perhaps some questions asked may have not been something the creator of said character never thought of before. The questions can only be three or less in number, as to give others a chance to ask, and be answered. Examples: "What is your favorite color, what is your favorite place to visit in Eorzea, what are your Eorzean political views?" You can post your characters on a list, or just pick one main character if you like. The point of this thread is to pick at the creator's mind so they can better understand their character. It is preferred the questions to be asked OOC. I'd like questions for me to be asked for my character Lucius Ignatius. He has a wiki, if anyone would like to look over it before asking. If this thread has been created before, or in the wrong place, please feel free to close/move the thread, moderators~!

balmung [Balmung] Looking for connections!
Lucius Ignatius replied to Sentry's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hi! Perhaps one of these days I'll run into you, but I think my character might be an interesting conflict for yours sometime. :3 -
Hey there everyone! Things haven't panned out too well getting off our feet, so we will be closing down for the time being overall-- the FC will no longer be taking members, as will the LS. I apologize for the inconvenience for those of you who may have been thinking about joining us. There may be a chance we may end up reviving once things get sorted out better, but for now it will be closed. Kind regards, Lucius Ignatius

balmung Ex-Imperial Pureblood Searching for things!

Still searching! :3 I have discord if anyone wants to catch me there too. Just toss a message privately. -
Link to my OOC RP Info Hey everyone! I haven't made much of a connections post for Lucius, so here's my attempt. Lucius (or Luke) Ignatius is an ex-Imperial magitek engineer. He has a bit of a conflicted history with his parents, who are Imperial loyalists. He was introduced to building machines (small robots/toys) at a fairly young age, and he increasingly got better as he had been given more complex things to build or solve, and thus, his father (a Legatus of his own small, secretive legion, the XVth) had eventually pruned Luke into making him his main engineer for his legion's tech. However, not all the time did Luke want to build things, and build weapons (eventually) for his father. He was placed in a room for the majority of his young life in Garlemald, slaving away for his father. He was rarely brought out, aside from explaining his machinery to others, and to make appearances with his father. He always questioned the Imperial propaganda, with much backlash from his parents, resulting in abuse until he learned not to question it anymore, and just do what he was told. More recently during the Dragonsong War, he had been given a chance to leave Garlemald for a mission to the city-states by his father's design, that could have ended in his death. All his father cared about was warmongering and trying to look good in the eyes of the Emperor. There was a 'chain' (spoiler) that still held Luke to his father and Garlemald, which he eventually cut, and now tries to live among the Eorzeans, revealing himself and his past to those he trusts. **Please note, I rather my partners try to follow lore as closely as possible. I dont expect walking lorebooks! I would just like people to follow it as best they can. ^^ If there is innacuracies in my own character, if identified, I fix them. Without further ado, I will detail what connections and hooks you might encounter him with, and what I am searching for: Ex-Garlean Slave: If you were an ex-garlean slave, you might recognize him. He at times was out and about visiting slaves when he could, and brought them food and drink; he often got severely reprimanded for it. Ex-Imperial Soldier/Person with Imperial Ties: If you were an Ex-Imperial Soldier, you might recall a time where he was a younger boy, and his father forced him to pull the trigger on an insubordinate soldier's head to see if he could do it. In which case, he did. However his father had his hand on the trigger with him. Another Engineer of Sorts: You might have heard of Luke providing magitek parts to some people, or a prosthetic. At times, people might see him as an inventor. Hes willing to try unorthodox things within boundaries. Person in Need of Help: Luke has been known to show kindness to strangers, and attempts to help them as best as he can, if he is able. Though he is always worried that anyone around him could be a target, if his father decides to search for him. Relationship Interest: Luke in his time in Eorzea has had two relationships--one more recently that didn't work out in the end after two break ups. He is currently (as of this post) trying to get past the pain of someone he truly, truly loved, but he is trying to keep his heart open to find his soul mate--perhaps one he would marry and be loyal to. He feels that he will never find one because of his past ties to Garlemald and being a Pureblood. Its a secretive life he would have to lead, and his mate would also have to be willing to take up his burdens, as Luke would take up his mate's. (Please note, he will only be interested in other males, primarily miqo'te or midlander hyur. Anyone can try to flirt, but please know that if it doesn't fit with someone he doesn't feel comfortable with, it may not be reciprocated.) **Searching for this heavily. I'd like for it to be slow burning, but talked about OOC beforehand. I am also expecting it to be a longterm RP with various themes and plots. (Please message me privately IG or on the forum if you are interested in this kind of RP. I am somewhat looking for a specific kind of person for this RP and I'd like to discuss things a bit further before its started.) Friend: Approach and get to know him! More friends are always nice. (FC) Legion of Solace Recruit: He will be leading a Free Company that is comprised of rebels of Garlemald. Ex-Imperials, Ex-Imperial Slaves, people who want to make a family with these kinds of people, people who want a family that is willing to fight and stay together against Garlemald. (https://www.guilded.gg/teams/YEY5YkEd/games/101500/home ) Anyway, I hope Lucius seems at least a little interesting! If you have any questions, please ask. I am very friendly!

balmung "Yet another Garlean . . ."
Lucius Ignatius replied to Fabra Aurelia's topic in Chronicled Connections
Would certainly be interested in meeting up someday! I think Lucius might enjoy hanging out with her because of her engineering skill. :3 -
Still alive and kicking! We've slowly begun to take applications into the FC. If you are looking to join, there will be RP, just nothing particularly FC-centered until after our pre-FC event concludes (which you can take part in!). This should be beginning soon, and it is a collaboration between Arylisse Dayhelm and myself. The ending should be sometime around mid July or Early August. Stay tuned!
