Neat. This sounds a lot like my FC's approach of no central theme. It's worked out pretty great. Maybe our two groups can hang out sometime c:

Looking for ways to slow down plots.
Magellan replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in Character Workshop
Yes this happens a lot. Not just in plots, but in areas like IC romance (people meet, get married 2 weeks later) injury both physical and mental (the magic power of healers to remove any and all injury, and people who have seen enough shit in one day to forever scar even the most hardened soldier are suddenly fine and happy the next day) Pacing and plot consistency seem to be two really hard areas of writing and rp to pull off plausibly. Even I get caught up in pushing something forward faster than I intended, and I'm one of the slowest paced rpers I know x3 I don't know if there's a solution other than finding like minded individuals. I think a lot of people are caught up in mainstream television mindset, where the plot of the week is tidily wrapped up by episodes end, and each little episode does not necessarily have to be tied to in what went on before, or what will happen ahead. With that said, I love slow evolving plots and character ineteractions, so please feel free to contact me in game: Sayuri Kanno or Alexa Rose. We can see if our characters have any reason to meet and take things slow together -
balmung Studying Physician looking for connections
Magellan replied to Lori-Nasharia's topic in Chronicled Connections
My character Sayuri Kanno is actually looking for healers to aide in running a free health clinic. Hit me up if you want to rp. I can also be found on Alexa Rose. -
95% of Rp I find is through my FC or the people they know. But I do pop in here from time to time to try and meet new folks. You are welcome to contact me on Alexa Rose or Sayuri Kanno if you want to try and set up rp sometime. I'm on most nights EST. FCS and LSs are the best way to find consistent rp, or attending events and trying to establish connections. If I don't hear from you best of luck, and hope you find some great rp soon!

Looking for healers of all skill levels
Magellan replied to Magellan's topic in Chronicled Connections
So.... things get busy. I had wanted to run the clinic this weekend, but it is looking like the following weekend will be more feasible. Anyone interested in participating that I haven't spoken to yet, please try to carve some time Sunday to rp about it, as I will be on all day. And don't be afraid to contact me on here or in game to set up a specific time! -
Royal Alchemy, located in the Goblet, Ward 3, House 15, room 3, and operated by Alexa Rose, is opening it's doors tonight 8pm EST! Rather than an 'event' however, this is an attempt to make connections with customers, or characters interested in alchemy. In addition to the standard potions (strength, dexterity, mind, etc.) Alexa also does special orders, such as sleeping draughts, love potions, potions of bravery, etc. Alexa has also created a novelty item called 'Deceptions'. Exploding (though non-harmful) gadgets that cause a temporary illusion on people... often to humurpus effect! Perfect for pulling a joke or prank on your friends. Alexa also loves a good mystery. if you have an unidentified condition, or are interested in knowing just how far the science of alchemy can go, she's willing to try any chemical concoction at least once! If interested in setting up some shop hours, please contact me in game, or be on the lookout for future open shop hours! Thank you and happy gaming. ****ALL MONETARY AND ITEM TRANSACTIONS ARE IC ONLY!!!!****

I've managed to get in touch with Swygynwyzn and co., and quite by accident Aucus, which was really cool. Fantastic rpers all of them If the rest of you are still interested please do reach out to my characters Sayuri Kanno or Alexa Rose, as I have had trouble getting in touch with you. Happy Halloween everyone! -
Hi welcome. Your character and mine may have much to talk about (Both Keepers, both no-nonsense, both trained in darker magics) Feel free to look me up: Alexa Rose. We can grumble about the weather, kids on our lawns, and the current state of today's music. I'm on most nights EST and throughout the weekend.

The event itself will likely be on a weekend, and I have no problems being EU friendly, so I will try to get in touch with you! -

Great! If that long, complicated series of letters in your info box is your IG name, I'll be trying to get in touch! -
The Concordia FC is in the beginning stages of planning a free clinic event some time within the next few weeks. As such, we are looking to ICLY interview healers willing to donate their time to said event. All IC skill levels encouraged to apply. There would be flyers posted throughout the various city states, if you need an IC reason as to how your character has heard about this. You can try to reach Sayuri Kanno or Alexa Rose in game, weeknights EST, or reach out to me here to OOCLY set up a time for some rp, or if you have further questions. Look forward to hearing from you

You can't really RP by the time of day in game (or else conversations and outings would have to be RPed lasting days at a time). That does not mean you cannot RP time-of-day, merely that it is independent of what the game is telling you. of course. And it is something I have often done with the people im rping with But if you want to say, rp that you are going on a nighttime stroll when the rest of the world is asleep, you're likely to end up passing rpers out and about who are pretending it's 3 in the afternoon, while you're trying to pretend it's 1 in the morning. It just makes it harder to play a night prowler in the larger scope of the overall community, though it's quite possible to do in small groups.

My Keeper generally prefers to prowl around at night, but keeps mostly to herself. The rapidity of the day/night cycle makes it a little hard to affix events to a certain time of day, and I've never seen anything like a typical bedtime enforced icly in game, though certainly it would be cool if that were somehow possible. In short, it's hard to rp someone who's out and about when everyone's asleep because it turns day so quickly and others aren't pretending to be asleep. But to answer your question, I'm of the impression most Keepers stick to themselves or small groups, doing their business quietly. Though if they were a thief, their natural sleep cycle would certainly favor them trying to rob houses at night, or mugging people in dark alleys.

Find a mentor. You can reach out to me if you like (Alexa Rose, on most nights EST) and I'll certainly share my experiences oocly with you and try to answer any questions you may have, and hey... maybe we could even rp! Or, you could sit in the Quicksand and simply observe. Watch people's nuances, how they handle dialogue and conversation, and action and emoting and even snogging (it is the Quicksand after all). There are also several helpful guides on this site that are stickied and thus easy to find. You can also contact me on here using personal message if you wosh. Whatever you choose, good luck, take a deep breath, and just have fun!

Beating Twintania. My first time ever getting into raiding, and it was a blast

1. You get paid to act (in theory). You don't get paid to roleplay. If I was getting paid to roleplay then hell yeah I would soak up every bit of lore there was. As it is, with RL being what it is, and FFXIV not being the only game I play, sometimes I only get in an hour per night. That's like... watching one cutscene sometimes. No thanks. I'd rather be more productive with my gaming time and read the abridged notes. 2. Agreed. If you are going to play someone who SHOULD know about Ul'dah politics, then yes, you should be keenly aware of current events. If you are playing a baker from a small town who isn't even aware there's a group called monetarists... then what does it matter? RL example: I know who the president of the United states is, and the governor of my state. That's about it. I don't know who the mayor of my town is, nor the speaker of the house, nor my state senators. Why? I care little about politics. I could find out pretty easily, but I think we take for granted because we are educated and have information at our fingertips (aka the internet) that the same holds true in Eorzea. There is no evidence of this. The mass populous would probably be uneducated, and key information would be long to those who wish to wield power over others. 80% of what we learn in the MSQ is because our character is a WoL who schlums with the Scions, a group who trades in information and secrets. This is not stuff that's gonna be known to every tom, dick and Jane in the streets. 3. I think it can be equally limiting to take all your cues from the MSQ rather than try to forge your own story and imprint on the world.
-
Eh. I don't really subscribe to this. We are all at different points of the msq, so it doesn't make sense to me to include it in rp unless you've agreed to specifically build a story around it. Nor have I ever once encountered a situation where someone tries to rp msq elements with me. On second thought, someone did mention the recent troubles in Coerthas to my Raen, and filled her in icly.
-
My understanding is that Keeper clans tend to be small; two to three families for the most part, and that the males tend to be nomadic, travelling from clan to clan for breeding. Clans are matriarchal.
-
An Au Ra male that isn't all dark and brooding? Kudos! ( I like the middle one best)
-
If I had this outlook, I think I'd find a different hobby. This sounds absolutely depressing. Haha. I feel I should clarify that my post was meant to drip sarcasm. (Internet and it's inability to give proper context). That said, I loathe the MSQ. Can't wait to be done with it so I can get back to all the stuff I do enjoy (pve content, rp, endgame, etc etc.) So yes, it does feel like a chore, and like I'm delaying my enjoyment, but it'll all be worth it in the end. (But dang, that msq is such a drag!)
-
I just started HW and find myself skipping all cutscenes. Pressure is the name of the game in mmos. Enjoyment is a mirage to be found further down the road.
-
I hear ya Mel. I haven't even touched HW, and I'm already feeling the burnout. I log on, feel like there's no way to feel that rewarding sense of accomplishment I so love, and go play other games. It happened so fast too. One minute I was all 'lalalala I love ARR'. Then HW came and I was just 'meh.'

Server: Balmung Character Name: Sayuri Kanno Time Zone: No idea (But US EST) Additional Char Info: Sayuri belonged to a monastic order that taught the path of the lotus. A largely peaceful group, with their own teachings concerning the Dawn Father, they nevertheless did train themselves in a defense oriented martial art. She is seeking to revive that order on these new shores.
