  1. That's a great idea! My old FC did something like this for crafting professions awhile back. We had a 1-2 hour lesson every weekend with a different profession each session. Lots of fun and you got to level your crafts as well! Unfortunately I don't have the time to commit to doing it weekly now but I'd be happy to give a lesson once a month. In the past, Rinh has taught weaving and alchemy, although she's also skilled in botany and of course is a competent arcanist. Were there any particular days/times you were thinking of running them?
  2. You're very welcome and good luck on Odin! ^^
  3. Welcome back! I can sympathise about RPing on the PS3. My sister plays on PS3 and complained a lot about trying to type and use the controller at the same time haha. The Europa linkshell is still alive and well, yes, just under new management now as Taeh has stopped playing and I took a break from the game. Really glad you enjoyed your time with us! There is an RP community on Odin (website for the RP FC here) although I'm not sure how active it is. Some of us from the EU looked into it late last year but it seemed a bit small in comparison to the EU population on Balmung so we stayed put. Either way, I hope you have a great time on Odin and if you ever log onto Balmung, feel free to contact Sastra about joining Europa again.
  4. I felt the same way. It was hyped up so much to be innovative and different but felt like any other MMO in my experience. A combination of WoW and GW2 I suppose. Which is fine, I mean they're both games I enjoyed, but certainly didn't live up to the expectation I had for it.
  5. I was surprised by that too. If anything, I'm relieved if the player is female as well as there's less chance of OOC drama, based on my experience. I have had some great RP, even romantic RP, with characters played by the same gender as my own. To each their own, however. I've also met some people who can RP the opposite gender astonishingly well. A couple of them, it wasn't until we were on skype together doing a dungeon that the male or female voice gave away the game. That's one of the reasons I place no importance on whether the player is the same gender as the character.
  6. I know, right? Your shots are always gorgeous, Clover!
  7. Well, I RP my paladin as a gladiator and my summoner as an arcanist. I suppose it's possible to RP the job instead but the base classes fit ICly so I've never bothered trying to come up with a feasible reason to RP their jobs. That said, I don't mind if someone else does want to RP their job; just not something I'm interested in doing myself.
  8. I wonder how this is going to affect people who donated all/most of their gil for FC housing? I donated a significant chunk of mine and now I'm just under the 850k price being thrown around, but is that even going to be enough? The link says, "You're not buying a house with only 850k gil." I'm not farming gil for months on end like I did to help with FC housing, so forget that. I also agree about it being alt-hostile. I was going to have a stable of alts like I did in WoW but after grinding through everything with just one alt, no way am I doing that again. Shame because I enjoy making different characters with different personalities for RP.
  9. Alright, no worries! I'll give you a nudge next time I'm online. ^^ Edit: I'm pretty sure at least one of my characters met yours at one point or another, I just am not sure which one, or if it was even both!
  10. Go to Social, Friends List, Player Search and type in the character's first and/or last name, then right click and add to friends list.
  11. If I had more time, I might've done the same myself, but well done to your wife for making a safe space! I'm incredibly relieved I haven't encountered that attitude in FFXIV, so far. That kind of nastiness is one of the main reasons I was able to walk away from WoW.
  12. Yes, thank you. I'm getting really tired of hearing "lulz no women on the internet". >.>
  13. Do you mean how to add to your friends list? Do a player search and right click, add to friends list.
  14. Oh, has Naih'ir stopped playing? None of my characters are part of a player-run clan or tribe but I'd still be up for miqo'te RP. I took a break from the game earlier this year just as I was about to run a personal plot involving my Keeper reconnecting with her clan so that could possibly be worked into something, maybe?
  15. Welcome to the RPC! I also knew nothing about the lore when I first started and, whilst I'm by no means an expert, I've learnt a lot since then. Read up and don't be afraid to ask questions. There's a ton of information on these forums alone.
  16. Ugh I can't believe this problem is rearing its head again...well, one of my friends just last week ran into the same problem but he waited until about 9 am GMT and was able to create on Balmung. So I'd just echo what's already been said, wait until people go to bed and snag a spot.
  17. I have to agree with what Sastra said. I'm not the sort of person who enjoys approaching strangers (to put it lightly) but I forced myself to do it anyway when it comes to RP. It helps if there's a hook to bring you in, e.g. someone's reading a book and you, as a mage, might be interested to know what it's about. Start small and it'll get easier over time. I don't know of any groups either but you're always welcome to approach my character! She's an arcanist, although has some interest in conjury.

  19. One of my friends plays a more feminine looking male miqo'te and rolled him with the female model. I don't recall anyone having a problem with it OOC or IC. Of course some people assumed he was a she upon first meeting him but they were corrected ICly and, in my opinion, it actually resulted in some interesting RP.
  20. Gorgeous venues you have there, will keep this in mind in future!
  21. Welcome to the RPC! I hope you have a great time on Gilgamesh and if you ever have an alt on Balmung, feel free to say hello. ^^
  22. I giggled. Pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.
