  1. Welcome to the RPC! Haha don't worry about being a WoW player, I'd say at least half of the people I've met in game used to play, or even still play, WoW. I myself played for 7 years, mostly on Darkmoon Faire. As for EU players, yes, there's plenty of us on Balmung! We have some very active communities here: Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; Sastra bumps the thread when she opens it for business and it's a great way to meet new people. Hope you have a Happy Christmas and, if you do get the game, feel free to hit me up for a chat!
  2. Especially as the women are supposed to be strong hunters themselves so I imagine they'd all just gang up and beat the hell out of a Nuhn if he tried anything funny. /shrug
  3. The thing is, why would our characters leave the Shroud or Sagolii, if they were still closely tied to their clan or tribe? I have a Keeper and a Seeker, and whilst clan and tribe still play a big part in both of their histories and RP, playing them as being active parts of said groups is a bit trickier. I have great respect for people who can make tribal culture a main feature of their character's life, like the Hipparion tribe, but conversely, I think it's fine if people don't want to play that way.
  4. Yeah, I think that's what it boils down to for most of us. I only played humans a few times in other games. Draenei, night elves, charr and so on seemed more interesting, and more challenging, in RPing a perspective vastly different from my own. I especially loved the hardened war machines that are charr in GW2 so steered well clear of 'cute' stereotypes when making my miqo'te.

    Hiya

Welcome to the RPC! I played WoW for a long time too but XIV is doing a pretty good job keeping me away from it haha. Hope you enjoy your stay and feel free to say hi if you see Rinh. ^^
  6. Welcome aboard! My sister plays on PS3 and sometimes finds it awkward to RP with swapping from keyboard to controller, but it's not really a problem so don't worry. Hope you enjoy Gilgamesh!
  7. Welcome to the RPC! Hope you're settling in well and enjoying Gilgamesh. ^^
  8. HEY! I resemble that remark! >.> Anyway, I picked miqo'te because I like using the ears, tails and fangs in RP, to express emotion and such. I know it's not necessary as there's plenty of ways to do that with any other race but I've never played a race like miqo'te before so it intrigued me. The lore (sparse as it is) also seemed quite interesting and something fun to play with. Edit: Oh yeah, and like Clover, I don't care if there's tons of other miqo'te around. I'm not going to stop playing something I enjoy just because it's popular.
  9. That's a lovely shot, Clover! Here's mine...not so lovely haha.
  10. Welcome to the RPC! I know you say you play at something more akin to NA times but still thought I'd mention a few EU communities: Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP FC and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE FC, all with the majority being EU players. Hope you enjoy your stay! ^^
  11. Actually, that is what I'm shocked about. I couldn't care less if people ERP so long as they don't do it in public.
  12. Don't you mean it's bigger on the inside? Sorry, couldn't resist haha. If that really is medium, it looks pretty spacious. Haven't seen anything up on Balmung yet.
  13. Yeah, ditto. Their excuses were pretty poor too and really boil down to "the servers can't handle it", pfft. I guess we'll see what happens in three months.
  14. So in 3 months smallest will be 8 million, medium 30 million and large 100 million. I still think they've gone about it backwards (the time/gil sink should be in upgrading) but at least that's more of a realistic goal.
  15. Europa's actually a linkshell but if you want an FC, one of our officers in The Travellers Guild lives in Japan so at least one of our events each week are at hours more friendly to your timezone. We also have quite a few players who are on during your evening, both in Europa and TTG.
  16. JsMjISM-_vg This is apparently the size of the smallest house. There are taverns and other buildings in the open world that are the same size, or even bigger, and they don't cost a penny. If that's true, I'm even more annoyed. We had so many issues at launch with servers groaning under the stress and I gritted my teeth through it. If they've still not got the server infrastructure to cope with the amount of players they want subbed and playing, they don't deserve to have that amount of subs. God help me if they don't budge on the prices and ditch personal housing for a room off your FC house...
  17. Welcome aboard and feel free to say hello if you bump into Rinh! ^^
  18. Welcome to the RPC! Olofantur's already mentioned Europa but if you're looking for an FC, The Travellers Guild is an RP FC and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE one, both playing at EU peak times. Hope you enjoy your stay! ^^
  19. Welcome to the RPC! If you end up on Balmung, feel free to say hi. ^^
  20. Welcome to the RPC! Glad you've already found your way to Europa and enjoying yourself. I like the sound of your character, she'd probably get along with Rinh well (and not many do haha). ^^
  21. Yeah, which is why I think they've gone about it completely the wrong way. Much more satisfying to reach small milestones as you go on rather than seeing one seemingly insurmountable goal. Welp, all I can do is continue to voice my opposition in the appropriate channels and hope they change their minds about this.
  22. But gathering gil is a monotonous time sink which requires little to no skill. Crafting and playing the market board, ok, that perhaps takes a bit more thought but what YP described was dailies or running dungeons ad nauseum. I already have a real life job where I perform tasks I don't particularly enjoy for a small monetary return; I don't want a job in a game too. I'm also not sure your comparison is right since the prices we're railing against are just for the plot of land. Building the house, furnishing and decorating it, extending and expanding; now those are things I can agree should require a lot of effort. I think the price of plots is more akin to being asked an exorbitant entrance fee or doing a horribly long quest chain (Gates of Ahn'Qiraj anyone?) before you can even access a raid. And for the record, I'd balk at that too.
  23. I thought that as well, but from the chat during the livestream and this post on the official forums, even the Japanese players are doing a spit take on the prices. So I'm not sure who they think they're pleasing with this.
