Welcome to the RPC! Firstly, yes, the game is less solo friendly in that you have to group to do dungeons and trials to progress the story, but duty finder makes it pretty easy to arrange. Both of your characters sound like solid concepts. Your miqo'te actually reminds me of my Keeper - squishy heart under a hard shell haha. The game isn't exactly alt-friendly because you'll have to do all the story quests, earn your mount, go up in your grand company, etc, all over again. You also get an xp bonus to levelling up other jobs once you get one to 50, so if you level a second job on another character, you don't get that bonus. It's not impossible, however; just more difficult than perhaps it is in other games. I'm an altoholic with 11 characters in WoW and 8 in GW2 but two is the most I can manage here. Welcome to the RPC! A linkshell is a chat channel. Some people use them strictly for OOC chat, and others use them as an IC linkshell for RP. ICly, you have a linkpearl and use that to communicate with anyone who also has the same pearl for that channel.

I haven't played on Gilgamesh but I have heard that Balmung has the bigger community. You could always make a character on Balmung too and see which you prefer?

I've been away from the game for a few months so I came back to a lot of new things! One that I've just loved playing with is the /cpose emote. I discovered you can couple it with other emotes, like /annoyed, so Rinh looks more grouchy than ever.

Ooh this looks like fun, and at a reasonable hour for my time zone! Marking it down in my calender. ^^

I'm not playing FFXIV for the foreseeable future so I'm back in WoW on Argent Dawn (EU). My battletag is katattax#2599.

You have a lot of excellent advice here! I'll just briefly say, don't be afraid to approach people in RP. I too had the same concerns when I started out, thanks to the exclusionary tendencies in WoW and GW2, but most people in this game are very approachable and welcoming. Definitely utilise Europa to find RPers as well, that's what it's there for! And finally, you can always hit me up for RP when I'm online. Good luck! ^^
