  1. Oh yes, of course, that'd be fine! ^^
  2. Event soon, check it out! Hope to see you all there.
  3. Location: Black Brush Station, Central Thanalan Date: Sunday 26 January Time: 20:00 UK (time zone conversion) Dress code: Royal Ascot Just a bit of fun, we're going to have an evening of "horse" racing! If you got the uma kabutos from Heavensturn, you can enter the race. If you'd rather watch from the sidelines and sip champagne, that's fine too! The race starts at Black Brush and goes south to end in Forgotten Springs. If you'd like to volunteer to watch a checkpoint, please post below. The winner gets a surprise prize purse. Bets will be taken before the start. Contact Rinh Hallani with any questions.
  4. The first time I did a DMed event in an MMO was in GW2 and it was incredibly boring. I think it had something to do with the DM, however, because I've since done them in this game and really enjoyed them. I suppose it's a bit of a shame you can't actually see the amazing stuff going on around you but that's what our imaginations are for, right? It lets you be so much more creative and add a lot more depth to an event. Of course it's not everyone's cup of tea but yeah, I think with a good DM who keeps things flowing, text events can be loads of fun.
  5. Welcome to the RPC! I'm also in the magical land of England haha. I hope you're having fun on Gilgamesh but when you're on your Balmung alt, you might want to check out Europa, an OOC/LFRP linkshell for EU players. I don't know if you're looking for an FC on your alt as well but, if so, The Travellers Guild is an RP FC and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE one, both for EU players. Also try and stop by the Bronze Lake Resort; it's EU timed and a great way to meet new people. Enjoy your stay! ^^
  6. Rinh growls, snarls, pins her ears back or flicks them towards a point of interest, her tail bristles or twitches when irritated, she sometimes hisses when caught off guard...that sort of thing. T'yareth also sniffs the air and is a bit more responsive with her ears, as I see her as being more feral and in touch with her instincts. But otherwise, they're pretty human I suppose.
  7. Welcome to the RPC! I was also on Argent Dawn and Piken Square! My Keeper has a tragic backstory and is rather socially inept too haha. *highfive* Time zones can indeed be a pain, but luckily we have a very active EU community here on Balmung. Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; it's EU timed and a great way to meet new people. Hope you settle in well and feel free to hit me up in game! ^^
  8. Wow, that's...really awful. I'm so sorry for you all. I'm glad you're getting a GM response on it and hope you get it all sorted out.
  9. Apparently people still believe black cats are bad luck so the RPSCA had 20 or so black kittens waiting to be adopted when I got Octavia. I wanted to take them all home. ; ;
  10. Welcome to the RPC! I also played for many years on NWN persistent worlds. It's what got me to take the plunge and give WoW and other MMOs a try since I'd only played single player games before. If you end up on Balmung, we have a very active EU community here. Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company (and we have a few Finns in TTG) and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; it's EU timed and a great way to meet new people.
  11. Hello there and welcome to the RPC! I hope you're enjoying Balmung and feel free to say hi if you see me about. ^^
  12. I know the primals keep coming back and you can theoretically have a unending supply to create new summoners, but don't they also say that only people who have the Echo can avoid becoming bound? Or did I misunderstand that? Personally, I've avoided it altogether and RP as an arcanist only.
  13. Yep, yep, yep. I was on Darkmoon Faire but transferred to AD after the RP there dried up and it was so hard to break into it. Luckily that's not the case in XIV! By the by, I just thought I'd mention some of the EU communities on Balmung: Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; it's also EU timed and a great way to meet new people. Welcome to the RPC and hope you enjoy your stay!
  14. Doesn't surprise me either but it's still disappointing. In contrast, I always found WoW's customer service to be great. I even got a character restored two years after I deleted her. Oh and there was that guy who drew a unicorn to get unbanned haha. Come on, SE, pick up your game.
  15. Welcome to the RPC! I'm a "Keeper" too, haha. Hope you enjoy Balmung!
  16. Haha ditto! Welcome to the RPC and enjoy your stay!
  17. I know right? Must...resist! Welcome to the RPC and hope you enjoy your stay!
  18. I play my alt in the Yataghans and it's a really fun and fantastic group. Wholeheartedly recommend more to join!
  19. Welcome to the RPC! You say you work in the UK so I thought I'd mention some of the EU communities on Balmung: Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; it's also EU timed and a great way to meet new people. If I misunderstood and you're not actually in EU then sorry haha but hope you settle in well and feel free to say hello if you see Rinh about! ^^
  20. What kind of stories has your character gotten into? The guild plot has sent Rinh all over the place, from escorting an extremely annoying lalafell through the desert to destroying a giant crystal steeped in dark magic. She tried to purge a friend of an evil influence and ended up killing them; although they were revived later, her failure haunted her. She spent sleepless nights trying to help another friend with the strange visions he keeps having. Lots and lots going on. How has your character changed since the game re-launch? Oh man. Rinh was meant to be extremely sharp, humourless and antisocial. Almost the kind of person no one would like to be around. But she's mellowed out a lot as the months have dragged on and even smiles sometimes! What has been your favourite RP moment so far? When Naih'ir, a male whom her family had had some contact with in her childhood, gave Rinh a book that belonged to her deceased father. It was really poignant and touching. Rinh hasn't let the book leave her side since. What was the most shocking RP moment this year? When she accidentally killed her friend, whilst trying to save her. It nearly killed Rinh herself too and, as I said, the failure drove her to anguish. Not only was she not as skilled as she liked to believe but her arrogance had cost someone their life. Thankfully the friend was revived but Rinh went to some dark places for awhile and it's tempered her ego a bit. What was the most surprising thing you found out about your character? That she is actually a good person beneath her acerbic exterior. She tries so hard to keep people out and pretend she doesn't care, but she does, more than anyone could know. That wasn't how I planned her at all but I'm really happy with the results. What relationships did your character build? Did they meet a new best friends or a bitter rival? Like I said, she's made a lot of friends. She'd probably hesitate to call them friends because that would involve showing some modicum of emotion, but her actions speak louder than words. There's also some people she doesn't get on with at all, but it's not gone so far as to call them a rival or enemy. What are you looking most forward to seeing in the future with your characters growth and story? I have a plot I plan on starting next month where Rinh goes to the Shroud and has to see her clan again, and come to terms with her past. She had a terrible relationship with them so I think it's going to be pretty interesting.
  21. Welcome to the RPC! The community on Balmung seems very welcoming of new people so I think you'll settle in nicely. Groups tend to not be needed unless you're doing lots of FATEs or obviously when you do a dungeon. Since you say you're in Japan, I just thought I'd mention one of our officers in The Travellers Guild also lives there so at least one of our events each week are at hours more friendly to your timezone. We also have quite a few players who are on during your evenings, both in Europa (an OOC/LFRP linkshell) and TTG. Hope you have fun and feel free to add me to your flist in game!
