1. ..... And catnip. What a miqo'te would do for a bit o' the nip...
2. *shakes fist at work making me miss live stream goodness!!!!!!!* Awesome work! (Maybe next time... Lol)
3. Welcome fellow Floridian! I look forward to meeting you IG!
4. omg, too cute!!! Poor Vesta...
5. meh. i think i was unclear, but i think some aspects of my question were still answered. lol the conditioning i was referring to was that done on them as childeren, but upon reconsideration, i have to remind myself that ala mhigo has only been a controlled city for around 20 years. anyway. i was just wondering if there have been any set major uprisings in the past, or if its just been kinda brewing & going on for years in fits & starts.. thanks for the reponses & input. ((if you saw this before the edit- my ipad was going nuts and wouldn't let me fix my keyboard stuttering... *blush*))
6. All of us are guilty of this at some point or another Lol! So true! I'm also guilty of turningoff zone chat (and sometimes spacial when I'm just tunnelvision and the the spam is irritating me). happened last beta- I was whapping away at a rock on a leve and this other chatracter commented ic about her beating up on a poor rock wall. Didn't see it til she ran off- so I sent a whisper of apology annd aa laugh at her comment. happens to us all. But... you are sure to find a great , welcoming community on Gilgamesh (as well as Balmung if you roll a character there too) don't be shy, get involved. and if you seee T'kyiah Soren running about, say hi!
7. I love your use of bright colors and the details... it just makes it feels so very VIBRANT and alive. Great job Rhynka
8. Okay... quick question: I know there is a lot of info about Garlean military might and weaponry... but is there any info regarding other uses for Magitek? And any specific weapons/etc besides the airships, cannons, gunblade, laser shooting arm bracers and so on? I'm assuming shields and land vehicles too? But... did they have radar targeting (or were the sites of massive destruction purely point and shoot from the airships, and Dalamud's crash location purely random)? Stuff like that... I believe Merri mentioned that Magitek was part of daily lives in Garlemald as well... any details there as to what kinds?
9. When was that time wise? As I understand it, there were several attempts- all failed. What happened? Were they all defectors? Spies? Folks just seeking to 'free' the city from Garlemald? Was it ever explained how they 'broke' their conditioning? Were there other repercussions in Ala Mhigo as a result?
10. Ugh. you did. I just need to go to sleep. .... sorry.... *wanders off to find her bed*
11. I think you're fine, Calli. Your story was great. Maleqo'te Keepers existed and you made it clear in your story that he wasn't a common sight... its all good. And I agree- no worries of having to 'retcon' 1.0 lore to fit 2.0. 1.0 was 1.0. The world is a different place now, 5 yrs later. (tho I -am- curious why the gods decided to return Merri as a Miqo'te... *giggles* I suspect there was some mischief and a touch of Garlean gene splicing with a Coeurl goin' on somewhere in the Aether...) *note: that comment is not meant as anything but me being silly... who and what you play is totally your own deal. I just was making a joke... Feel like I must say this since attempts at humor have sometimes been misinterpreted.*
12. I agree. Great job! I attempted a Starbucks Cappuccino cake for my brother's wedding (groom cake)- (shape of a mug with whipped cream swirl atop flat brown tinted icing) but... well I'm ambitious and didn't think it was tall enough to require dowels for support... It looked awesome for a day then.... slid..... down.... LOL. Live and learn. My Starbucks insigina looked awesome though and WAS used on the impromptu cake! later made a cake for my sister's B-day, handmade tulips... turned out much better. (no idea if I still have pix of either... :frustrated: )
13. Great idea. Can't see my DW standing up and telling stories, and can't say if she'd sit about collecting them either (but likely not, though she'd definitely listen)... but a very good idea! Soliloquy hosting one of these every so often would be great- maybe if the other major cities have a RP tavern like place, it could rotate?
14. Welcome, welcome, welcome.. old school RPer!!! UO... wow... back when the RP was just a step away from PnP. Also... Disney? Pure win. My faves? Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast... Little Mermaid. All awesome... never too old to love Disney movies. (Tangled was adorable too...)
15. glad you found us and I look forward to encountering you IG
16. Welcome to the RPC, old timer! (I kid! you're not that old at all. )
17. I've typically RPed my healer characters (or characters with healing abilities) with a mixture of science (logical to the lore/world) and magic (if available). For example: my necromancer in GW2 was a scientist and healer. Yes, she performed autopsies, took copious notes and experimented with both magical substances and physical in the pursuit of her craft. She was an IC alchemist and physician- in the very core of the craft. She cut, she sutured,... but she augmented her physical interventions with her restorative magic. Positing that only one familiar with the death of tissue and the removal of life can truly understand how to sustain it and return it. Likewise, it made her a quite able interrogator too... but I digress. She used both- magic was used as an augment to speed healing and recovery, and to do 'emergency patch up and triage' in the field until a more permanent and effective cure could be used. She used her blood minion as her emergency direct healing tool (aka the victims blood formed the minion, she controlled it to enable healing, etc, then killed it, returning the essence back to the victim when she was done), potions and surgery as more focused, and the minion again to speed recovery/healing of incisions. Tl;Dr... I used a mix of both, with physical manipulation/'true' medicine as the root and magic as the supplement 'tool'. As far as level of sophistication? I'd say Garlean medicine would trump all other medicine simply due to their level of tech and so on. They very well MIGHT be able to use the aether to power microscopes and Cat scans/MRI's etc... But the rest of us would likely not be that advanced. Not so far backward as the Four Humours of Man and bloodletting and so on (tho leeches and maggots ARE excellent tools for medicine...), somewhat more advanced. IMHO. Poultices, herbal remedies, anatomy, minor surgeries... sure. Open heart, organ replacement, etc... maybe Garlemald, but not any others. That said, my Miqo will have a certain level of healing talent, and will utilize a more 'tribal' version of medicine, as is logical per her history.
18. Someone mentioned PTCS... I was a member of that before it tanked due to, as was said, incredible difficulty in obtaining 'jobs.' That said... the GW2 RP community is not like this one. So... I see no reason why it would fail- given it's not ALL your LS/FC does. Especially in light of the poll here. Yes.. Moogle mail is IG, and -can- be IC. But it doesn't have to be. Hand wave that you 'actually' got that gil/package/note from the Moogle... And encourage the RP that would occur via pure character interaction with a courier- be it shady, mysterious, singing, cheerful, dark or totally UPS like. Not sure what trading is like in FFXIV... haven't had the opportunity to trade with anyone yet... but in GW2- there WAS no trading. It had to go through the mail. Lame? yes. So we -had- to do a bit of a handwave in PTCS.... which kinda defeated the purpose, save using it as a RP device. Which... as I said... the RP community didn't seem interested in. I think having a courier service as an IC device to promote RP interactions and networking sounds like a brilliant idea.
19. OMG... I'm there. My Miqo'te will be there to hunt the wild chocobo!:chocobo:
20. Wow... these are incredible. For one who never played 1.0, really gave great insight into the trials and tribulations you all had to face, and the sheer staying power of so many of you. I truly hope I can get to know you all IG... @Kiyone: Girl, I just wanted to come through the screen and hug you so many times. I cannot fathom the amount of crap you went through, and I totally empathize with SO MUCH of what you felt and... everything. I tend to shut down and become reclusive too if I feel unwanted- which only proves to make the problem worse, but what do you do, yanno? So.. yeah. You're not alone... but I'm so very glad you found a great group of folks to make you smile again. I hope to meet you IG and we can RP too!
21. wonderful job! (and the Dustyn w/Baelon is very sweetly emotional )
22. absolutely adorable! Beautiful work- I can't wait to see more!
23. Hey and welcome to the community! Both your history & experience will serve you well. Don't stress about mmo RPing. It's very easy.... Just let your character take the reins & have fun with it. I look forward to meeting Eric on balmung & RPing with you!
