I agree! I have been pondering this very thing (well, traditions and ceremonies, that kinda thing) for my Clan. Priority, however, has been finishing "War and Pe-" erm, that is Chiané's story/bio... I'm in the edit/review stages now.... (and the final polish of the end that will *hopefully* lead to RP for those of us that are NOT WoL characters, but are survivors of Bahamut's tantrum) Priorities: 1. Bio *WIP* 2. Clan *WIP* 3. Wiki 4. Moving to T'kyiah Bio *done* Clan *fairly done* Wiki I have this awful issue with being unable to RP characters til I know their history... and through the history, I learn of culture/traditions. ... really don't want this thread to de-evolve.... I'm going to Gilga because that's where my LS of friends I've met in GW2 are going. But... I do NOT want to be mercilessly griefed. Some griefing- yeah... that happens, just ignore. But when it starts distracting RP focus and annoying the hell out of me, I'm ready to smack someone. Yes, can /ignore... words. But not spell actions and emotes, or hopping a mount up and down on your head as you RP. No, I don't want to be run off of a server or a place due to these dink-wads... But for me there comes a time when enduring this shit just isn't worth the fight to RP against. Call me weak, call me faithless, call me whatever name you want. Life is just too short and games are supposed to be fun. That said... I'm rolling a my Miqo'te on Gilgamesh. I'm gonna give it a shot and not back away due to fears of griefing by 4chan and reddit... when it MIGHT not happen. I'm gonna give the community a chance... That's what my FC is planning too. We all want to have a great RP experience and contribute to great RP. BUT. I'm also rolling on Balmung with my Duskwright. I plan to be fully invested and am (frankly) excited to RP with the DW's and others I've encountered here that are going to Balmung. I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to working with Legacies. I have nothing but respect for all the hard work and heartache they've endured to *finally* see this game they'd wanted to come out to come out. I think it's an awesome opportunity to have such resources to help generate RP stories and bounce ideas/concepts off of. I'm not wishy washy. I very much want a great RP experience and want to contribute to great RP interactions... I want to enjoy logging in and working with folks... not working AGAINST griefers. I have a job. I don't need my game to be another one that I have to PAY to endure. That said... we had the vote, we had the discussion, that Server horse has been beat up and kicked around and Gilgamesh was the winner. Despite 4chan, reddit and having the highest non-Legacy population of any server, and therefore likely the longest queue times, its where most folks here not going to Balmung are wanting to go. So.. yes, its just a name, but it was the one chosen due to sentimental value or simple familiarity from playing on Beta... I really don't see us reopening that can of worms again... Or... *sees Xerek's post* Maybe I spoke too soon.... :blush:

.... upon looking at the back of my CPU, that is true, my monitor is NOT plugged into my GeForce Vid Card. It's hooked to my DVI port at the top... My Monitor has a VGA In on the back, and the DVI In... I think I need a different cord- for the VGA... *looks like I need to take a trip to Best Buy... wow... I feel kinda dumb now. BUT... saves me from the issue of crashing my rig to clean install Win7 b/c I thought my lag was due to remnants of the Virus and general clutter* Thanks!

I think incorporating such things into the RP would be great... on the skills you WANT to acknowledge as learning IC. (Some of us have the goal to eventually master all the classes- but might not do so IC) Personally... I plan to learn/acknowledge my training IC only a few things. I might acknowledge knowing -aspects- of different things (eventually) but I will never claim IC to be a master of all forms of Magic, War, Land and Hand.

yeah... seems most of us are either taking a cute from the 'French Inspired' by smooshing legit French words together to create an 'image'... or using straight French words/surnames. Either way is cool... just figured making the Clan name fit the Naming Rules for Elezen seemed logical.

Also something to keep in mind: RPing is not limited to taverns and cities. In fact... I -prefer- to RP in the world, in a group, killing stuff and adventuring. Strict Tavern RP makes me restless and kinda bored after awhile. Small group/intimate (aka not chicki-bow-wow, but one-on-one character development focused RP) is my favorite... speckled with adventure and storylines. So yah.. you can grind AND RP. Simultaneously, if you want. Or... if group RP whilst grinding isn't your cuppa joe... there's bound to be virtual taverns via LS you can RP in as you OOC smack things. All depending on what you're into. RP is not anti-PvE... or PvP.... or dungeoning.... You CAN have your cake and eat it too.

I think the consensus is... that if Squeenix makes a designated RP server, we'd all move from Gilgamesh to there. The Balmung Legacy (and those non-Legacy that want to be on Balmung) would remain there. (The Legacy members have no choice- they HAVE to stay on a Legacy server for now).

Yep... the RPC is officially supporting: Balmung as the RP Legacy server & Gilgamesh as the RP non-Legacy server Of course, you are free to roll a character on any server- but this site is mainly focused on those two. Even as a non-Legacy, you are free to go to Legacy servers- it's just the Legacy members can't bring their Legacy characters to non-Legacy servers. For now. The creators of the RPC have been longtime Belsaid/Balmung players (since 1.0) and are very dedicated to both the RP and their server... and FFXIV. They are a fount of knowledge and very supportive. Those heading to Gilgamesh are very motivated to 'break new ground' and make that server the best RP non-Legacy they can. Either would be a great choice- and if you can't decide? Well roll a toon on both and see which community makes you smile widest. Doesn't really matter where you go, you'll find great RPers. :moogle:

DocGalactic- This group sounds awesome! I really hope we can work together with you all on Gilgamesh. Are you going to be a straight FC or will you allow for associates to join your LS? Every member of our FC (save the leader) is a total newbie to FFXIV... so we have a lot to learn too and would love if we could share info. I look forward to 'meeting' you IG!
