Archim Posted March 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2015 Yo! My name's Archim and I recently started to play XIV and even more recently transferred to Balmung, having planned to join in for the RP here, as I heard it to be rather great in numbers here. I'm not completely new to RP, luckily. Due having role-played back in WoW (AD-EU woop woop) for good few years now which also makes me relatively intrigued on how things will move on with a new game and character. While I will be wasting most of my initial time here just leveling and reading up on the lore, I hope I'll get to meet up with some nice people in future and get some stories on the roll! Warren Castille Posted March 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2015 Good morning! I'm a filthy American so we likely won't see much of each other in game, but the forums kind of exist outside of time zones at times! If you've got questions about specific things, don't be afraid to search the board or post a topic if you can't find anything on it. We've got a few pretty knowledgeable folks who want to help where they can. In the meanwhile, I suggest checking out the Town Square section! We've got all manner of play-by-post roleplay happening there, and most of the threads marked (Open) are free to enter. Doesn't hurt to shoot a PM to the thread maker if you're not sure, but everyone here is pretty friendly. Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2015 Another filthy American here, Morning/Evening, regardless of time, welcome to the RPC! Depending on your timezone, we may not always cross paths in-game, but feel free to hit up Franz anytime I might be online. I promise that unless I'm already in some active RP scene, I'll find a way to make it work. (Goes the same to all you RPC lurkers). If you've got questions about gameplay or the lore, DO ask questions! There is a MASSIVE wealth of information on the RPC! If you're used to MMO RP, an explanation probably isn't needed, but here are a couple tips special to FFXIV. "/em" is your custom emote command. It will simulate the emote text and your character's mouth will not move. If you've used IRC or some other IM systems, it's identical to the /me command in those. (In FFXIV /me makes you point to yourself). You'll see a lot of people pair it up with dialogue, if they want to start a text block with an action. ex: /em raises his hand in greeting. "Welcome to the RPC!" ((Even if Franz would probably never be that friendly)) "/[emote command] motion" is also a HUGE help. What this does is it will do the emote action/motion, but without the automatic text. When paired up with a /em or other dialogue, you can make some really nice actions. ex: /welcome motion /em greets . "Welcome to the RPC!" Link to comment
Archim Posted March 17, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted March 17, 2015 Thank you for the tips, I'll be sure to keep those on mind. What comes to times, I'm a late-night bird when ever I don't have to wake early on next morning so chances are I might still manage to hit up around in more convenient time to see even some fair 'Merican citizens.
