Tortles Posted November 5, 2015 Share #26 Posted November 5, 2015 I did notice in recent weeks/months that I've seen more Elezen about. I see more men than I see women (but that may be because that's what I want to see!). I imagine some Au Ra have switched over or switched back after playing with scales for HW launch. I figure people have also been inspired after finishing HW to want to be an elf, because a lot of PCs I see are Ishgardian. Link to comment

Dat Oni Posted November 5, 2015 Share #28 Posted November 5, 2015 Amazing picture. I am now 100% certain that the neck is the primary reason why most people think twice about making Elezens. It's funny that people are weirded out by neck elongation but are okay with.. Scales Horns Tails Furry ears No eyebrows Oh well. Proud elf guy, here. The difference for me is that even way way back in FFXI, the Elves just have odd proportions. The neck is big part of it. But it's more than that. Their arms are too long, but that might be because their legs are too long as well. Then comes their stances and animations. They are just... well, this is all subjective. It's all my opinion. But I always felt that the stances and animations for Elezen males, especially how they run, are just a little too dainty for me to play one. There is also something I dislike about the different faces they let you pick from. I'm not sure how to describe it exactly, but the only Elezen male in the entire game with a decent looking face is Aymeric. They looks so snooty and angry all the time, and that would be fine. There is just something I can't quite explain about their faces that I dislike. They have some awesome hair options though. And thankfully I can just make a highlander male and use most of the Elezen hair I like on him instead, unlike back in 1.0 when Highlanders only had 4 types of hair, and one of them was just bald. I'm reminded less of Elves and more of the Guado from FFX by the Elezen. Link to comment

Their proportions hit an uncanny valley for me. The others are all so unrealistic that it don't matter, but the elezen proportions are just slightly off, so I do a double take all the time. Makes me uncomfortable. AND THEIR HEADS ARE TOO SMALL. 1 Link to comment
Manari Posted November 5, 2015 Share #30 Posted November 5, 2015 Oh yes! I forgot to mention that too. Elezen heads really are just strangely small. It just adds even more to the odd appearance they have. Link to comment

Desu Nee Posted November 5, 2015 Share #32 Posted November 5, 2015 I mean this with no offense to any Elezen rpers around here, but Elezen just...are one of the blandest Male types I've seen. Even more than Midlander, with Midlander you can pull some awesome or androgynous or whatever looks, but Elezen just looks less fun overrall. It doesn't have the rough and rumble look of Highlander, the Sleek, flexible build of Midlander, the exagerated Roe built, the...scales? of Au-ra, and Lala Males are always silly. Elezen Males are just really bland, like most FFXIV species aesthetic wise, IMO. Link to comment

Isarmont Sorel Posted November 6, 2015 Share #41 Posted November 6, 2015 Ahem. In all honesty, I can see why some people don't like male Elezen, so I'm not offended when I hear an 'ew, those necks' or what have you. Personally, I knew Elezen would be the only thing I'd probably play. ... And I don't mind being kind of unique. However, I've seen quite a few more Elezen on Balmung in comparison to Gilgamesh, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places. Link to comment
Michaux Posted November 6, 2015 Share #42 Posted November 6, 2015 I tend to think that female Elezen are actually rarer, personally. I have a female Wildwood as my main and a male Duskwight alt (who needs RP contacts, btw). Elezen are definitely my favorite race in the game, and I do wish more people played them. They are quite lanky, but I personally find them rather elegant. My Duskwight isn't straight, but he is bi, so there's that... But the lore thing? Only applies to Wildwoods. Duskwight lore is sadly thin. Link to comment
Paradox Posted November 6, 2015 Share #43 Posted November 6, 2015 Semi Off-Topic: You know, whenever I see the whole Wildwood/Duskwight thing going on and how much they're not fond of each other, the first thing I see is this. http://www.nuklearpower.com/comics/8-bit-theater/081129.png Back on topic. I think straight anything is hard to find in this game because there's a large LGBT community, and Elezen are rare already as it is, so odds as they are basically fall on very few straight Elezen men. Not that they don't exist. For the record, my main Elezen is bi with a strong female preference, but. On the Duskwight, yeah. I'd like to see more about em. And more Elezen in general. #Elezenmasterrace. Link to comment
Mahorela Posted November 7, 2015 Share #44 Posted November 7, 2015 Elezen in general seem endangered. Its very rare for me to encounter another, which makes me quite sad. I guess they're just not too out in the open. Also is it just me or are there more guys than girls running around for elezen? Link to comment

Coda Posted November 7, 2015 Share #46 Posted November 7, 2015 I feel like the female Elezens are rarer than the guys. Of course, this might just be because I play a male Elezen. Link to comment
111 Posted November 7, 2015 Share #47 Posted November 7, 2015 I find myself surrounded with Roes and Elezen of both genders. I've noticed that people tend to RP more with characters that are within the same 'Height Category' and Elezen for example seem to seek each other out. Feels weird staring down at catgirls after a while. Link to comment
