Kage Posted November 11, 2015 Author Share #27 Posted November 11, 2015 I wonder what is up between Krile and Alphinaud. Alphinaud equated the 'blessing of Light' to the Echo. Krile states "Our order [students of Baldesion?] is devoted to uncovering the mysteries of Hydaelyn and interpreting Her will particularly through the study of Her gift to us." It was only through her 'blessing of Light' [OR THE ECHO] that saved Krile from getting boomed like the rest of the Students of Baldesion and the Isle of Val. Krile on the Echo and Crystals of Light On the cusp of an Umbral Calamity, souls blessed with the power of the Echo invariably appear. To aid these Her chosen warriors, Hydaelyn bequeaths to each a sliver of Her strength in the form of a Crystal of Light. But as Her strength wanes, so too does the potency of Her gifts. This crystal, born of an earlier era, is infused with a power far greater than those of this age. No two manifestations of the Echo are alike. I, for example, can converse with beings of every shape and size─excepting beasts, contrary to what others would have you believe. Language has nothing to do with it, of course; rather, I am sensitive to the whispers of the soul. Their intent, their very essence even─the traces of which served to guide the elementals to Y'shtola. [16:19]Y'shtola: Given that Alphinaud seems to recall the details of my return so vividly, I would rather he did not draw me from memory, talented or not. /dying Fuck you whmlala and your teleports. C-can I have Thancred's threads? Also, Hoary Boulder's brother, Ocher Boulder is at the Rising Stones! And uh, getting it on with a Highlander lady. I think she's a highlander [17:40]Ocher Boulder: Praise the Twelve, they found him! Riol found Hoary! [17:40]Ocher Boulder: He's in Thavnair looking after Miss F'lhaminn, it seems. Hah, imagine that! My brother, bodyguard to the Antecedent's mother! He sure has come a long way... [17:40]Aenor: You should've seen the way my man jumped for joy when he heard about his brother! [17:40]Aenor: By the by, you don't happen to know a reputable goldsmith, do you? I'm thinking of commissioning a pair of rings... [17:40]Clemence: Aenor, you cannot be serious! He must be three times your size! I mean, how would you even... Surely you haven't... [17:40]Clemence: No, no, don't tell me. I don't want to know. I don't want to know... Link to comment

LiadansWhisper Posted November 11, 2015 Share #30 Posted November 11, 2015 I wonder what is up between Krile and Alphinaud. He was a child when he went to the Studium - only 11 years old - and apparently very socially awkward. It would seem that Krile has many, many stories of embarrassing things Alphinaud did while he was at the Studium. Edited to Add: This is sort of like having your mother or your aunt show up when you're with your cool friends, knowing all that they know about you, up to and including embarrassing baby pictures. Kage Posted November 11, 2015 Author Share #34 Posted November 11, 2015 [19:35]Cait Sith: My tale begins long, long ago in the city of Mhach, which once stood in the lands of Yafaem. [19:35]Cait Sith: The sorcerers of Mhach were masters of destructive magicks, and they brought that terrible power to bear against Amdapor and Nym in the War of the Magi. [19:35]Cait Sith: The titanic forces they unleashed, however, took a heavy toll upon the land, ultimately resulting in a colossal flood that drowned the realm of Eorzea─a catastrophe which my master, High Voidmage Cessair, was wise enough to foresee. [19:35]Stacia: Wait, wait, wait... Colossal flood? Are you talkin' about the Sixth Umbral Calamity? [19:35]Cait Sith: Hmm, I suppose you would know it as such... Now, where was I? Ah, yes. When they learned of the fate that awaited them, the Mhachi magi began construction of a gargantuan vessel that would bear their people to the skies, and to safety. [19:35]Cait Sith: The operation of the Void Ark, as the ship came to be called, was entrusted to Cessair. Prior to that, of course, my master had been a prisoner in her own home, confined for her outspoken opposition to the war... [19:36]Utata: So the Ark was meant as a sanctuary? Then, how did it come to be so...um... I mean, what happened to all the people? And where did all the voidsent come from? [19:36]Cait Sith: By what power do you imagine such a massive craft remains aloft? The energy required to raise the Ark was siphoned from over a thousand otherworldly servants sealed within the vessel. [19:36]Cait Sith: Advances in Mhachi sorcery were made for one reason and one reason only: cataclysmic destructive power. And the swiftest─and most dangerous─method of acquiring that power was through the enslavement of voidsent entities. [19:36]Utata: So, the creatures on the derelict...they broke free from your master's control? [19:36]Cait Sith: At the very heart of the Ark, the voidmages had entombed a great ruler of the voidsent─Scathach, the Shadow Queen. [19:36]Cait Sith: But in order to control so potent a prisoner, a mage of adamant will was required. And being Mhach's preeminent sorcerer, Cessair was deemed best-qualified. Were it otherwise, my master might never have been released from her own imprisonment... [19:36]Cait Sith: Yet even with Cessair's peerless skill, the Shadow Queen could not long be subjugated. One after another, the lesser voidsent awoke, and ran rampant within the ship. [19:37]Cait Sith: In the end, Cessair and the fifty-three voidmages aboard the Ark sacrificed their own life energies to return the fiends to their coffins...leaving me, a lowly familiar, to watch over a derelict prison. [19:37]Leofard: If I remember me Umbral Eras right, the stuff you just described happened more'n fifteen hundred years past─which is a good while by anyone's measure. And since everythin' seems to have been quiet on board your boat 'til just recently, I'm thinkin' summat unusual must've happened to wake the inmates up. Am I warm? [19:37]Cait Sith: One day, a voidsent that had taken the shape of a bat flew into the ship. At first, it was little more than a nuisance that I brushed away, but the longer it remained on the Ark, the stronger it seemed to become... Eventually I could not contend with its power, and it began shattering seal after seal! [19:37]Cait Sith: ...You have faced this bat-winged fiend before!? It would seem, then, that the creature survived the encounter...and that he intends to celebrate his restoration by liberating his queen. [19:37]Leofard: Well, that explains that, then─'cept for one small detail, namely, where the Queen's Coffin went. After it fell out of the ship's belly...I'm assumin' it didn't just disappear, right? [19:38]Cait Sith: You recall the great rift that the Ark's cannon ripped in the sky? That was a voidgate. [19:38]Cait Sith: Such a portal opens a temporary path through the void, allowing the ship to travel almost instantaneously from one location to another. The voidsent, as you saw, only opened a gate large enough to displace the Coffin. As for the Coffin's destination, however...that is as much a mystery to me as it is to you. [19:38]Cait Sith: I beseech you, conquerors of the Ark: help me find the Queen's Coffin ere the wards binding Scathach are dispelled! Link to comment

I can confirm this evil glint, I also get it when recanting some of my little sisters more embarrassing past moments to my Brother-in-law, or her friends.. or anyone really. Also while I liked the new MSQ it did feel really short. I can't wait for more though. I have yet to unlock Void Ark that will be tonight or tomorrows project! Link to comment
Kage Posted November 11, 2015 Author Share #36 Posted November 11, 2015 I queued into Void Ark on my 3rd Job aka Monk. Someone in the Balmung RP community can attest to how horribad I am as a monk when undergeared and also COMPLETELY ASSFUCKING NEW. I ate the floor more times than a DRG! I actually liked the amount of travel and movement there was in Void Ark. Was really fun. Except for the whole I-am-Alliance-B's-token-dick-Monk-pulling-everything-before-people-can-mention-anything-about-the-mechanics. Edit: I was thinking, Thancred has one eye covered right? Say that Flow helped cause Y'shtola's blindness... imagine Flow took Y'shtola's -two- eyes but for Thancred it took one eye and his ability to manipulate aether well. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted November 12, 2015 Share #37 Posted November 12, 2015 Sounds plausible - he didn't cast the spell and wasn't as trained as Y'shtola in a manner of aether manipulation. Link to comment

Steel Wolf Posted November 12, 2015 Share #39 Posted November 12, 2015 Chipmunk is best censor. I have to say, the story in this one was a bit soft, but I also figured it was setting the table for the next patches to come. Should be awesome pieces soon. And I'm just glad we're not constantly busting Primals as part of the story. Also, that but with Yda and Papalymo, in my mind, almost all but assures the next expack will be in Ala Mhigo. GhostlyMaiden Posted November 12, 2015 Share #40 Posted November 12, 2015 I just recently finished MSQ. Although the story was rather short and didn't have much to it, I think it was pretty okay. We set the stage for Ishgard, we get an idea what the next few patches will look like for Ishgard. The time that they were there, I was pretty nervous the entire time. I didn't know if we would kill off someone because let's be honest, guys whos name a I can't remember (Haurchefant's brother), I thought he was gonna die in the fight, because he doesn't really seem to be 'knight' material. I love that we have Thancred back, he was my favorite Scion. I think his story on how he got to were he was, was pretty interesting. Best censorship I have seen in a game btw. My only real issue with the patch is, "The Warriors of Darkness". 1) They sound and look really edgy 2) I feel like they were pushed into the patch, like they were just there because the Devs. wanted them to be. 2.1) Don't tell me it was because of Ravana, because we could've taken care of that easily! I do hope they they do more with them to make actually (lack for a better term) 'like' them. Also; What is the deal with Urianger? I've been sitting here looking back at the 2 or 3 cutscenes that Urianger was talking with the Asican. I have been unable to figure out what is going on. Maybe he is working with them in hopes to use something against them? Also during that cutscene, was that the boot of Alisaie? So many questions, almost no answers. Link to comment

ɴᴘᴄ Posted November 12, 2015 Share #44 Posted November 12, 2015 This was the first chapter of the MSQ where I found the writing to be markedly clumsy, or maybe more specifically the planning. There were still intriguing developments and as many questions as revelations, but it all seemed very short and the new elements felt crammed in. Kind of ham-fisted relative to prior chapters, to my thinking. Anyway, the teasers at the end are highly interesting, and I'm getting nervous about Alisaie and Urianger now. Link to comment
Dravus Posted November 12, 2015 Share #45 Posted November 12, 2015 The patch did a good job at moving the story along even if some of us had already guessed what direction it was going to go in. I wonder if we'll get another batch of story quests next month when the next patch goes live? I also thought there was meant to be some sort of new trial based off the enemies encountered during the anniversary event. Am I missing something? The new dungeons and raid are pretty fun. Very aesthetically pleasing and with great music and interesting enemies. The quality of life changes are brilliant. More of that, please! I've yet to try the exploratory missions since I've been much too busy with Fallout 4. I hope there's another major character death soon. I was very displeased to find that - other than Minfilia - all of the Scions are now accounted for. 1 Link to comment
Kage Posted November 12, 2015 Author Share #46 Posted November 12, 2015 Something I realized though about the length of the MSQ. Previous 2.X MSQ quests were -filled- with fetch/be someone's bitch type of quests. I know a lot of people were bored and annoyed by it, some of the quests didn't have much substance to it either. To me, it felt like the 3.1 MSQ didn't have... well, filler. Link to comment

I do hope they they do more with them to make actually (lack for a better term) 'like' them. The Warriors of Darkness are in the MSQ because it was time for them to be in the MSQ. Of course we're left with more questions than answers - they're baiting us for the next patch. Also; What is the deal with Urianger? I've been sitting here looking back at the 2 or 3 cutscenes that Urianger was talking with the Asican. I have been unable to figure out what is going on. Maybe he is working with them in hopes to use something against them? That's a good question. I'm not sure if he's working with them, or if he's simply listening to the proposal that the white-robed Ascian has for him. Also during that cutscene, was that the boot of Alisaie? Given that Alphinaud's outfit has completely changed in Heavensward, and he's with the Warrior of Light, it's almost certainly Alisaie. Link to comment
Kage Posted November 12, 2015 Author Share #49 Posted November 12, 2015 Urianger strikes me as the "wait and see" type. I am quite interested in what's at work here, and well can't work with much else but to speculate. Urianger's looking at this tome (I don't recall its significance but it seemed like it was trying to state that he had or we had heard of it before) that he's being told, "This is the real deal here. Not those other tomes, this one." And I have to wonder, what if there is something to that? Hydaelyn is getting weaker. Her Crystals of Light are evidence of this. What if part of this balance spiel is for that too? Why would the -now- Warriors of Darkness go with this? They too fought with Ascians. What changed their minds? Link to comment
