Been in a bit of an RP slump lately, so I'm finally putting up a thread up here to try and drum up some more interaction for the burly little dork with the floofy hair. I have a couple alts that are available to play with too - such as Chachan's older brother and Judge - but the main goal is to find some new friends and adventures for Chachan himself. So, I suppose I should do a basic breakdown of who he is and what I'm looking for, huh?

 

Who Is Chachanji?

 

 

Chachan here is the youngest child of and current heir to the Gegenji family, a storied and skilled line of weapon and armorsmiths. Like his older brother - the original heir - he left home to try and find his own way in life, but unlike him he's returned to his roots and uses his skill with the hammer to protect those he cares about. You can find out most of the information about him on his wiki but I'll try to provide a summary of his personality.

 

He's a generally friendly little fellow, though he can be a bit of a worrywart - mostly due to all the trouble his friends and the like seem to enjoy getting themselves into - and tries to get along with everyone and see the best in most folks. He's a pacifist by nature - though he can fight if pressed due to his training by Ser Warren Castille - and has a strong distaste for combat and violence because of this. In fact, his return to and focus on armorsmithing is more for protecting people rather than for combat.

 

He has also recently been named the head of an Ul'dahn smelting guild, and is currently running around trying to do the best he can with that.

 

What's Chachanji Good for?

 

 

• Repairing/crafting weapons or armor, or help with such.
  
• IDing or providing information regarding weapons or armor.
  
• Acquiring ores, ingots, and other similar materials.
  
• Someone to just listen to your problems and try and cheer you up.
  
• Just being a friend!
  

 

What's Chachanji Looking For?

 

 

Mostly, I'm just looking for some more RP with Chachan, since I feel like I need to do more with him and am kind of at a loss as to what to do with the guy right now. Walk-ups, one-shots, lengthier stuff, over /tells, over Skype... I'm up for pretty much anything. I don't even mind if I'm just ancillary to whatever plot's going down! Using Chachan in place of an NPC is fine with me.

 

I... do kinda want to get the little guy into a relationship at some point, too, but that's more of a long term goal. Gogon's relationship was built up over a matter of months, and I think something similar will be best for Chachan too. He's had his puppy dog crushes, but ultimately I'd like his SO to be a friend who develops into something more. OOC communication of the relationship and how it'd work is preferred, too, just to keep from any misunderstandings. Currently in a relationship now!

 

All in all, I'm up to at least trying most RP. Or will be open if a particular plot or idea rubs me the wrong way. So, when in doubt, just ask! In the meantime, little Chachan will likely be running around Ul'dah if you want to bump into him. Though, he could be at any of the three main citystates, should you need him. General locations are described further below in its own section.

 

What Can Chachanji Make?

 

 

I figured I should add this little tidbit since him being a smith is kind of what he does for a living. In fact, since he's the latest in a long line of Doman smiths, he's very good at what he does. And he's improving day by day. However, there are some limits to keep in mind regarding what he will and won't be able to make.

 

First and foremost, it should be noted that he's primarily an armorsmith. He will fit, fix, and create armor for basically anyone since that fits with his whole creed of wanting to protect people. To that end, he's very much a "function over form" designer and thus if you want your armor to be flashy or stylish, you might want to look elsewhere. He actually has real problems with "armorkinis" and the like since he doesn't see them as armor, and would be hard-pressed to make something of that sort for people. That and he's generally bad with filigree and the like, and would most likely pass you on to one of the Goldsmith Guild members if you want your nice and functional piece made more ritzy.

 

Now, he can make weapons - and quite good ones at that. However, due to his pacifistic nature, he's less likely to do so for the common person. He dislikes the idea of weapons he's made being misused or just hurting or killing people in general. So, you'd have to be someone he's close with and trusts in order to get him to make a weapon for you. He will, however still fix up and repair weapons - but he won't upgrade or otherwise improve them for similar reasons.

 

Finally, he's a classic low-magic-and-tech smith. He can use and utilize many various smithing techniques (folding and gilding, for example), but his creations are neither magical nor utilize any Garlean-style magiteknology. They're just really sturdy and strong, and notoriously sharp in the case of bladed weaponry. That also means that, while he might be able to smith some of the components for a Machinist's gun, he wouldn't know how to actually make one himself.

 

Where Can You Find Him?

 

 

Chachan's main place of business is his smithy - the Usagenji Ironworks, which you can find in the Goblet (Ward 11, Plot 16). It is both his place of work and his abode, so it's no small surprise that you can find him there. Along with that, you can find him in other places around Ul'dah from people-watching or grabbing a meal at the Quicksand to wandering about the Sapphire Avenue Exchange. He also makes trips to Limsa as part of his work with the Blacksmith and Armorsmithing Guilds, and has family up in Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona. On top of all that, he has a few friends out in Gridania and has done work in the past in Ishgard and more recently made a short hop out to the Fringes, so he could be out in either of those locales as well.

 

Really, as long as it's not too far out of the way, I could probably finagle a reason for him to be in many places. I even have a little mini-arc planned for him to visit Kugane, so that'll be another spot he might be found in the near future as well! Just pitch the idea to me and I'll let you know if I can head-canon a reason to be in that location. That's really the only snag that could really come up - my own deep-seated need to explain why he is where he is if it's somewhere "out of the way" of his usual stomping grounds. It's something I'm trying to work on, but that will likely only come with more experience in doing so.

 

Oh, in addition, the smithy can be used as a backdrop for other RP as well if needed, since it's basically a public shop. Should he not be there, the counters are manned by a couple merchants from the House Dentra Smelting Guild, who will take orders to relay to the little smith or sell what pieces he's made already. Though, if you would like him to be there, just let me know and I'll try to make sure I have the little guy in position to either be interacted with or just background dressing.

Zanzan's always looking for more pals, and surprisingly, he has a severe lack of Lalapals . I've always seen you around and I do believe we passed a single line of dialogue to you at the Grindstone.... haha. WELL, convenient thing too is that Zanzan is also looking for a blacksmith that has knowledge of Far Eastern crafts, or so I assume with Chachanji's title of Doman Blacksmith.

That he would be! He's helped with a lot of Doman-styled equipment through one-shots and other RP. Mostly Ninja gear - knives and armor - but he did also help reforge a naginata for a Dragoon as well. So hopefully he can help Zanzan too!

...Okay, I'm caving. I can't possibly NOT want some sort of in-character relation with this guy. He's too cute! @_@ Plus, it would probably be helpful for Theo to have a smithy at his side when need be. Heck, it could even be an opportunity for the little guy to help the Miqo'te out with his own goals in being a Jack-of-All-Trades for crafting! Relations-wise, they could probably become good friends after a while. It kinda depends on how well the Lalafell can deal with Theo's abrasive attitude at first. It will be a bit of an uphill battle... but I'd like to think these two can benefit from each other in their own ways.

... Seriously, though, it's more a matter of how abrasive Theo is, I think. Chachan tries to get along with everyone, but he still has those who rub him the wrong way. Which makes him less likely to help them out as much as he would others.

Theo's in that phase of being the dark and broody type. He might snap at people more than he really means to, but he's not all bad. Just has some trust issues n' such. But half the fun is in finding out how things go once they meet. So I'd be game to see how things go if you are? X3

A super-late point to make considering when I posted this thread, but I will often idle in the Quicksand. During those times, it's quite likely I could be alt-tabbed watching something on YouTube or something similar. If I don't respond to an emote sent my way, that doesn't mean I don't want to RP with you! It likely just means I'm not looking in the window at the moment!

 

So, if you're not sure whether I saw something or not, feel free to poke me with a /tell! Or, alternatively, get in contact with me OOCly (either again in /tells or via PMs and the like) to set up a time for our characters to meet and where! Sometimes just figuring out how they might meet can inspire some interesting RP situations!

 

Also, still open for more RP buds if you want to hang with the dorky little popoto. Just my time windows are now more evenings (EST) now that my new job finally started.

Chachan is still available for RP antics! My new job usually has me home around 6:30-7pm and need to be in bed by midnight at the absolute latest... but during that window I'm still quite available for the RPs, and even moreso on the weekends! So feel free to give me a poke here or in-game if you want to hang out with the little popoto. Especially if you showed interest earlier and we never got around to touching base!

 

Also, I finally got around to remaking my Personal Room in my FC. ICly, it's a little smithy shop/home squirreled away in the Ul'dahn industrial sector. So, if you want a bump into him there - either just to say hi or to see about hiring him for a job, feel free!

Another little bump. I've gotten a bit more situated in my job and have found my evenings relatively free once my roulettes are done. As such, I'm generally free for RP on weeknights around 7pm EST or later, and for solid chunks during the weekend - save for the time slots for the two 'Stones (aka Grindstone and Runestone). So, if there are folks who want to meet or hire or just bump into the little sunny goofball, please let me know either here on the RPC or in-game! If I'm not on Chachan, then I'm likely on his brother Gogonji, so please don't hesitate to give me a poke.

 

This also goes for folks who have expressed interest before and encounters never got around to happening, too! I know a couple have mentioned wanting to meet him, but that never happened due to some reason or another. So, if there's still interest, let me know! At the very least, shoot me a Friend List invite so we can try to plan something later. :blush:

 

As for Chachan - his situation is basically still the same as last time. Working out of a little personal smithy in Ul'dah (being represented by his FC room in Lavender Beds at the moment) and traveling around trying to help where he can. He IS dating someone right now, though, so I suppose that's a change, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't like more friends. :lol:

Repairs he can do! Though, for character and plot reasons he doesn't actually forge that many new weapons. He could repair old ones or provide direction to someone (which would likely just be an NPC, or someone else if there's another smith that would want to be circled in on this) who can make the new one, though! It's all just in how you want to roll with it.

 

And Chachan is always in the market for more friends. And, financially, there's nothing wrong with repeat customers either.

 

I don't have Discord set up, unfortunately, so planning would likely have to be relegated to PMs if those are the two options!
