CalemvirLucin Posted August 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2013 After being opposed to rolling on a legacy server for months, I am just now coming around to the idea of being apart of Balmung! My biggest concern though - will there be a large amount of people interested/participating in PvP? This is very important to me becuase I need competition! One of the main reasons I am leaning towards Gilgamesh, but being in a larger community of roleplayers is also very important to me! Link to comment
Arelian Solin Posted August 6, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2013 I'll definitely be looking at the PVP! I've been super curious about it for a while and I'm excited to give it a shot. Link to comment
Havoc Snow Posted August 6, 2013 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2013 Assuming the PvP is as good as Yoshida has tried to make it sound I will definitely be taking part. I'm trying to get people into my FC so we can have our own PvP group setup. Link to comment
Nel Celestine Posted August 6, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2013 I will totally try PVP with friends and others in this community. Public free PVP, prolly not. Link to comment
LandStander Posted August 6, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2013 I personally love PvP as I find that the AI for PvE is usually pretty lacking and I know there are a lot of like minded people as well in the LS I joined. I am sure that no matter what server you join there will be a lot of PvP to find. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 6, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2013 ^ Indeed there is Denn! A LOT of my guildies love to PvP, you'll see the NB there a lot Link to comment
Ellion Goto Posted August 6, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 6, 2013 PvP is a necessity. My guild has had an unnatural love for it for a really long ass time... I think dating back 7 years. In fact, I personally love to PvP even more this than this guy... 2 Link to comment
Martiallais Posted August 6, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 6, 2013 Definitely planning to give it a go as well. Here's hoping we all get to throw down together! 8-) Link to comment
shotgunbadger Posted August 6, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 6, 2013 I'll be getting all up in PvP, it's always a fun diversion. Link to comment

Azthran Posted August 6, 2013 Share #11 Posted August 6, 2013 Personally I'm not a huge fan of the small scale arena style PvP but I'm those PvP zones that have objectives for us to capture and stuff. Link to comment
Yeldir Melfusor Posted August 6, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 6, 2013 If you don't mind a challenge, you'll get plenty of it on Balmung, catching up with the 50 juggernauts. Balmung has always been pretty busy, so you're assured plenty of action there, and much of it with a strong rp context. Gilgamesh, on the other hand, is a good choice if you want to start from scratch, and help us build a solid community against preposterous social odds. Reddit, Blue Gartr, everyone's brother and their dog are all rolling there, including a lot of progression driven guilds. Action assured there, too. Link to comment
Freyar Posted August 6, 2013 Share #13 Posted August 6, 2013 I intend to at least dabble in PvP where and when it's available. Link to comment
CalemvirLucin Posted August 6, 2013 Author Share #14 Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks for all the feedback! Balmung here I come looking forward to meeting some new friends in character and out! C: Link to comment
Naunet Posted August 6, 2013 Share #15 Posted August 6, 2013 I adore PvP and will be all over the arena when it releases. Link to comment
abnormalDeity Posted August 6, 2013 Share #16 Posted August 6, 2013 I absolutely love pvp!! I can't wait until the arena's available! Link to comment

I'm kind of with you on this one. I don't mind the arena style stuff, but objectives are so much more fun. Ballista was my first eye opening experience to PvP (as RO and PSO didn't have PvP options by the time I quit) and it really has not been topped yet. It was like PvP soccer/football, haha. Fiona Swift Posted August 6, 2013 Share #18 Posted August 6, 2013 I am not a big PvP person , but I do enjoy the content occasionally especially if it is made so that it is drop-in friendly. Never was a big fan of special PvP gear that boosts resistances to Player vs Player content . Unique looking gear sure, but once you start adding tiers of Player Resistance is just makes it harder for casual PvP'ers to ever get their footing. Link to comment
Merri Posted August 6, 2013 Share #19 Posted August 6, 2013 Absolutely. While I will be jumping back into endgame come day one of the head start, and while I do have an RP linkshell to head up, I will absolutely make time to PvP in XIV. I was into competitive PvP in WoW, and played Ballista quite frequently in XI. I also stuck with Aion for a number of years, and that game was pretty much solely driven by PvP. Suffice it to say, I'm so game for some competitive PvP in XIV, and definitely plan to participate on a regular basis. I know some of my free company members are planning on PvPing as well, and we're already working out a team composition. Can't really make any serious decisions until we see the PvP-specific abilities, however~ Link to comment

I used to be a heavy Role Player/PvPer on WoW, and did a fair bit of arenas. So you are not alone. A few friends of mine will dabble in PvP of some kind as well. Although I don't imagine the competition will be what it was on WoW. In fact. I -pray- that the competition doesn't turn into what it was on WoW. -shivers- Link to comment
Rhan'ir Azal Posted August 8, 2013 Share #22 Posted August 8, 2013 There doesn't seem to be any shortage of PVPers amongst these RPers  I always enjoy PVP and many in my free company are looking forward to the PVP FFXIV has to offer too. Link to comment
Spiritual Machine Posted August 8, 2013 Share #23 Posted August 8, 2013 It will be interesting to approach PvP with FFXIV's combat style after doing more action-based PvP in GW2. Link to comment
Chickpea Posted August 8, 2013 Share #24 Posted August 8, 2013 Yes! Usually after I've had my fill of PvE for a bit and need a diversion, I dive straight into the PvP. I look forward to trying it out. Link to comment

Don't think it will be as bad but still. Link to comment
