Error 3102?

Recommended Posts

Still broken for me. I know its beta but the poor communication is awful. As soon as Landmark or Wildstar come out I am out of here. You are only getting my money for a few months tops SE! :P

Note to self: Don't bother RPing with and/or getting to know Maeve. :|

There will be lots of people that move onto other games as they are released and this is part of gaming. However it saddens me that ooc knowledge would hinder potential fun rp experience in game between characters. Nevertheless its your choice.

Here is what I will say. The MMO world has been absolute garbage for awhile. FF14 is like the last bastion of hope for many people. That's why there is SO many subscribers. It's going to be a very successful MMO, I feel it. That's something I like regardless of the minor problems. I've literally had no beta this weekend since I got over 9000 at 3pm CST Friday but I'm not in a state of enrage. I'm laughing with my FC in vent about it and having a good time. Hell, I'm joking about being in Valhalla or the void with Lightning having tea with a few other folks. (just a silly joke) So I mean... I DO hope they extend the beta to get these situations under control because of them cropping up. We'll see. Either way, I just hope next week the 3102 and over 9000 is resolved. That's the big test.

I've been burnt too many times by MMO-hoppers. I can't handle it OOC anymore and IC it is a huge pain to deal with. Especially when they leave stuff up in the air and just disappear 'just in case' they come back.

I'd say if you develop bonds with people in a guild, you end up sticking with a game for a long time. If you don't care for the game or the community, then you won't stick around. I know people stuck with Rift simply because they loved being around the community and people for example in our organization. To simply say adios before you've gotten to know people, I can understand where Aysun is coming from.

Yeah, it's a bit odd. I know I'll be playing several MMOs at once and I'm sure there will be an eventual point where I don't play FFXIV, as it's a typical life cycle for games for me; I play, I eventually do everything, I play something else.

But, on topic, I've had this error since last night and it's a bit frustrating seeing that it's the last night of beta. But, oh well. I got my Arcanist up to 20, at least. :D

I understand the error is annoying. But I really think some people are taking it way too seriously. It's ONE error. And considering how smooth phase 3 was, once they fix that error it should be smooth sailing again. Writing off the game or acting like SE is outright horrible for not being able to fix it immediately is just...well, I won't say the word here :P

The beta forums look beyond ridiculous and childish right now. Please refrain from bringing that behavior over to these forums.

Also, for added food for thought: XIV has apparently shattered the MMO record for most concurrent online users at once in an open beta. So many people online at once is bound to cause these problems, and it's a good thing that the issue is coming up in a stress test rather than launch. http://www.gamingunion.net/news/final-fantasy-xiv-smashes-open-beta-record--9634.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gamingunion+%28Gaming+Union%29

Absolutely not defending anything going on in the Beta Forums (because, well, let's face it - they've been really, really terrible the entire Beta process).  But I will say that I haven't seen any of that behavior here, and I don't think anyone is actually "freaking out," as it were.  Most people in the thread seem to just be expressing sadness at not being able to log in and concern over the lack of communication.

There's nothing wrong with that.

People who care are invested in a game.  If you're invested in a game, you're going to play it.

Elisea actually has pretty good approach to this and ive actually started to laugh this off too. to be fair i think this is gonna be something we will remember as a kind of funny memory plus to be honest its bringing the forums closer togethor in my eye's. in the mean time ive been playing  alot of Layton brother's Mystery room to pass the time as well as chatting with people here.

Absolutely, laugh in the face of adversity. I just hate that Autumn Semester starts Wednesday, and I only got 4 hours to play this weekend! It sure will make next weekend orgasmic! :D

Yep.  Bugs that really screw a large number of people or are annoying at the time tend to end up as fond memories.  There were numerous, game-breaking bugs in the Mists of Pandaria Beta, like turtles that would disconnect you once they attacked you, and one particularly "memorable" bug that would cause you to immediately disconnect and be unable to log back in if you got near any other players.  Like, any of them.

Cities became ghost towns as people fled from each other, terrified that even being close to another character would mean the end of their Beta experience!  Even visiting a neutral auction house or vendor out in the wild was a risk, because you didn't know if someone else would stumble on you.

:cactuar: <== that was me for most of that build.

Even in a live game, you'll occasionally have craziness.  There was a group of exploiters using a bug to crash entire servers at one point, and bragging about it on a 3rd party website.  The forums exploded with rage (which was what the exploiters wanted) and Blizzard couldn't figure out how to stop them for several hours.  But eventually they got it fixed, and got everything back up and running.  And there's an entire Wikipedia page on the Corrupted Blood Incident.

This too shall pass.  It sucks, and I'm sad I can't play my character anymore, but we'll get through it.

as someone who hasn't yet suffered from 3102 personally( though i cannot play with my friends anymore due to their being booted with the error):

I have done significantly less "stress testing" since this error blew so far out of normal SE we have a problem and are fixing it. Not to mention each time I enter a new area i feel like some sort of test subject for Scotty's next theory (start trek).

3102: remember this could be your next transport.

(*note I am suffering from the 90000 error message, so no instance dungeons for me)

Indeed! plus early access is next week so im 100% hyped for that. it's not like many of us were taking open beta too seriously especialy some of us including my self who already did P3.

Once I found out I couldn't roll on Balmung I basically gave up, which is fine. I never liked the idea of treating beta like the 'real' game at all. I was even planning on restarting for launch anyway. Also, bugs never really bothered me in mmos. Considering the sheer complexity of such games I always assume there's a certain butterfly effect going on that will cause the game to go awry.

One of my favorite bugs I encountered in WoW was when I used an underleveled scroll of return and it sent me to heaven: no land, just a sunset bathed sky. I was stuck there for well over an hour before a GM could figure out what to do with me. I've been kicked off, lost items, fallen through the world, been unable to finish quests, but I still played. The only thing that ever angered me was when other players acted horrible.

Bugs should have been fixed since Closed Beta. Open Beta is usually made for people to actually earn the right to enjoy the game to ensure that everything is working perfectly. There is no excuse to this.

Ah stop being a nay Sayer. Bug's are unpredictable plus nothing like this actually ever happened in the closed beta so it really couldn't of been predicted or fixed in the closed. anyway

I am sorry, but that's still doesn't really explain that they should have been aware of this problem more than 90 hours ago. Now more than 20,000 players can't go online because of this issue and they haven't resolve it or even considered to extend the open beta for those who weren't even able to play right after character creation.

That's unfair, though.  There is no way that they could have stress tested the servers the way they have this weekend during the previous betas.  There just were not enough players.

And no one in the Open Beta has earned anything.  It's an Open Beta.  Anyone can sign up.  Anyone can get in.  You don't have to do anything but fill out a registration on the Square site.  That's it.

I would agree with you, but as I've mentioned in my previous post, that still doesn't help with those players who were unable to play the Open Beta for last two to three days because of 3102 and 90k error. Especially when the open beta is about to end less than 6 hours.

There were plenty of complaints before the forum was completely down today. It was mentioned for quite some time. Especially through twitter, and Yoshida was looking right at them. They should have messaged to all players that they'd fix the problem like 12 hours ago instead of 6.

and? the problem is fixed by early access not to mention! you arn't taking comunecations into account and the fact that there's a insane ammount of code to go through even after they understand the issue

It absolutely sucks that we're locked out.  I mean, it really blows.  I have been moping all day, listening to my friends cheerfully playing while I'm locked out, unable to get back in.  :-\  I don't like it.  It's no fun.

But this is not my first dog and pony show, if you follow.  We need to keep in mind that this bug did not appear in the previous Beta phases.  Now, whether that is due to the fact that there were not enough players to reveal it, or whether it is something new that popped up in this build, we don't know.  But what we do know is that bugs pop up in different builds.  So it's actually not that shocking that a bug this detrimental to the game would pop up now.

I really don't think that we can say what the Producer/Director has and has not seen.  There's no way for us to know unless we're camped out in his office creeping on his things (which I don't think any of us is!  :dodgy: ).  There's a time difference, there's a language difference, and we don't actually have insider knowledge of exactly how the hierarchy works in Square Enix.

Do I think that they should have been far more communicative than they have been?  Absolutely.  But it's just silly to say that Yoshida was reading the Twitters and chose not to respond.  What we're looking at is likely a Customer Service snafu of epic proportions.
