Tonight! Grindstone #106! Our brief foray into "smaller" groups of only three dozen people came to an end as forty five fighters assembled in an orderly line and waited to pummel one another. There was a series of new faces who all did excellently for themselves, but the main one is Kersch Schwarzer, our new champion.

Friendly lookin' fella, isn't he?

There is exactly enough gil left in the Grindstone purse to fund 10 more Grindstones! And what do you know, there's exactly 10 more Saturdays in 2015!

Tonight! Grindstone #107! We had a not-quite-record forty-nine fighters line up for our showdown tonight, and despite some uneven brackets and some super-duper defensive fights we ended three hours and forty minutes after starting!

Welcome our new Grindstone champion, Theovon Wraithwall!

So, next week the Grindstone will be happening on Halloween! To celebrate this, everyone and anyone participating is encouraged to wear masks, costumes and disguises! The rules are the same, but anyone showing up in magic glamour will be okay to compete!

On another note, November 7th I will be away raising money for charity as a part of Extra Life! The Grindstone will be happening despite my absence, so everyone is still encouraged to show up! I'll post more details in an attention whoring thread, but I wanted to telegraph this early.

As an aside from the official Grindstone update post, I just want to point out that I have never, ever expressed dislike or discomfort with any pre-formed group showing up at the Grindstone to show support and solidarity for people in the same LS/FC/Timezone/Book Club/Whatever.

I appreciate anyone and everyone who takes time out to show up to our event, and I am frustrated and irritated with rumors and hearsay that I don't like specific groups for showing numbers at the Grindstone. I can't stress enough how much I'm blown away by the support and excitement the community has for this thing.

If you want to show up, I want you to show up!

While this is only a fighting event. I do enjoy participating or watching it weekly. It's nice seeing so many different styles of RP, especially in fighting, coming together to beat the snot out of each other.

As I said earlier to you. Thanks for hosting this event weekly.

This is a reminder that this coming Saturday is not only Grindstone #108 but also Halloween! People are encouraged to show up in disguise, in costume and incognito for a fun theme night.

THIS IS THE ONE TIME I'LL NOT BE A GRUMBLY JERK ABOUT ALIASES (though I'll probably still get them wrong~) SO DON'T WASTE IT.

I hope people dress as someone who actually wears a cup to a fight. BUT YES GOOD.

Man, if it happens I got this time this Saturday (Given it starts at 4:00 here, and I'm probably, possibly back from going out by then), I will try to show up in the most ridiculous outfit, if not at least observe it! :D

Hey, every time Dail'a has participated, he has worn one! It's served him well twice now, protecting his poor miqo'nads.

What the hell is this "if" bullshit

But yes! If you're willing and able, we're happy to have you!

To go behind the curtain a little bit, matches are actually scheduled while everyone is doing their introduction posts! That's the reason I'm rubbish at keeping track of these things; I rarely get to actually read intro posts and just have my wonderful, wonderful overseer/healer staff keep an eye out for ridiculousness/rulebreakage. The only aliases that "stick" for me are the ones I'm aware of outside of the line-up (though I call Togy Togy out of habit now more than anything!)

So I can't guarantee I'll be able to actually track anyone's names, but I'll try to be accommodating this time in particular.

Just for that Warren, I'm not running by what I'm planning in doing for approval.. just gonna do it!

That's fine! As long as the normal rules of the event are kept, feel free to run wild. I want people to have fun.

-gigglegigglegigglegiggle-

Don't matter though, be out in the first round anyway xD

So, we knew tonight was going to take place on a holiday. We knew people would be busy. We knew that we were likely to be playing to an audience that didn't exist on this particular Saturday.

AND THEN THIS HAPPENED.

Thanks to Ventus Zeruel for the photo. That wasn't even all of the forty-four fighters who would show up on this All Hallow's Wake to take part in our little event.

Tonight we saw giant goblins fight tiny lalafell and dancing robots fight naked men with their dangly bits dangling. We had a rhyming pumping avatar (Wrong game! He shows up in Warcraft!) calling matches. We had a snow-woman nearly make the finals. We had a bunch of adamant fans put up with the nonsense pro-Allag cries of the Arbiter and everyone played along, never questioning or doubting or being difficult.

It was beautiful.

Our final winner tonight was Y'uraq Tia who weathered a Mask, a snowwoman and the Bridge Champion before all was said and done!

In a small tangent, tonight marked the 40th Grindstone I've recorded in the googledoc! And... that streak ends now, because next week I will be missing to raise money for sick and dying children! If anyone is interested the link for our Extra Life page can be found here! The next Grindstone will have Judge Jredthys as the acting Arbiter and I hope everyone shows him the same respect and support I'm given week-in and week-out.

Tonight was a ton of fun! I hope everyone else feels the same way!
