Ciel Posted August 15, 2014 Share #26 Posted August 15, 2014 Ciel rides a coeurl, which she named Mille-Feuille. He was given to her as a betrothal gift seven years before the Calamity. He was still pretty much a kitten at the time, so he's had time to grow large and strong enough to carry her. Having been born and raised in Gridania, she named him after her favorite desert. Mille-Feuille translates to "many layers" or "thousand leaves" which is what the scaly ridges on his neck, tail, and limbs reminded her of. Link to comment
Crisiet Posted August 15, 2014 Share #27 Posted August 15, 2014 Crisiet rides a chocobo of the courser variety named Tournette. She's clearly very well bred and should have been far too expensive for him to have acquired through conventional means. He tells people she was a gift, but had in fact stolen her while escaping Ishgard. When he was a serving knight-captain, he rode a destrier named Fournet into battle. Link to comment
Rosekitten Posted August 19, 2014 Share #28 Posted August 19, 2014 Actually I'm glad I stumbled on this thread.. I was about to go edit my character information to be a bit more clear/fix a few things dealing with her creature companions. Lorraine has a bad habit of taking in strays or agreeing to help look after odd pets if asked... Not that she minds and most she'll find homes for or end up growing too attached to. This being said she has (or in the future will have) two beasts of burden. The second is still being written out so for now will be excluded. One being Zeek her faithful and over excitable Chocobo. He's been around her from the day he was born at the Red Rooster Stead. Originally he was just another work bo there and was trained for deliveries and to help about the Stead. This changed as the over sized bird refused to listen to anyone after she took her leave of her job position at the Stead. Soon enough getting a letter to take the bird off their hands. Of course not for free.. that is a debt she is still trying to pay off. Zeek has been known to get his rider into trouble.. and himself. Overly curious and acts more like a hyper active pooch. Quit often forgetting his size and knocking folks over in his friendly greeting. Link to comment
Kage Posted August 20, 2014 Share #29 Posted August 20, 2014 Kiht rides her small, somewhat unruly Chocobo named Windrunner. He is super quick, and can maneuver well over rough terrain. Chocobos are great. The only mount I would choose over a Chocobo, if it were available, is a Raptor mount. Kiht is small enough to where a large raptor could hold her; I would think. In the minion guide description, it says that Goblins use raptors as beasts of burden. So, they can be raised and domesticated. Or I could have Kiht ride a large white wolf... Would Kiht ride the new direwolf Ixali tribe mounts? Link to comment
WanderingWordsmith Posted August 20, 2014 Share #30 Posted August 20, 2014 He doesn't have it yet, but I'm planning a story wherein Averill overcomes his fear of aided transport (airships, boats, chocobos etc.) through the aid of a gentle chocobo who comes to his aid. It's all still a work in progress, though. Link to comment
Nebbs Posted August 20, 2014 Share #31 Posted August 20, 2014 Nebula rides her Chocobo, Blinky. They rescued each other from some gient crabs near Costa after one ran off with her sun hat. Since then they have been best friends. here is a pic of them.. Blinky is the one with his eyes shut. Link to comment
Chika Ito Posted August 20, 2014 Share #32 Posted August 20, 2014 Chika rides two mounts; Runt is her Chocobo. When she was out hunting one afternoon she found a nest with a baby Chocobo in it, and the mother's body was close by lifeless. So Chika picked up the little runt of a Chocobo, and took him back to her tribe. He got his name for when she had found him he was very small. Her relationship with him mingles between love and hate. Runt is fiercely loyal to Chika, and extremely protective of Chika's kids. Especially the baby. His loyalty, at times, is pushed aside when he sees butterflies. Butterflies are his favorite thing in all of Eorzea! Sometimes Chika wonders if he lacks a brain, because he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. What he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in heart. When she is having a bad day Runt will stick by her side constantly, unwilling to leave her. And then there is; Ryker is her Coeurl. Chika's family prides itself on raising Coeurl kittens, and breeding the Coeurl when they become of age. Ever since his birth Chika has taken care of him. Holding him, bathing him, even bottle feeding the kitten. Hand raising him ensured that he was only loyal to her, and it created a close bond with the overgrown feline. Unlike Runt, Ryker is highly intelligent. Often can be seen by the look in his eyes when he is trying to work something out. Much like the Chocobo this Coeurl is overly protective of Chika, and the kids. Link to comment
Lillith Cale Posted August 20, 2014 Share #33 Posted August 20, 2014 Lillith has one mount, and that is her trusty Chocobo Kainami, over whom she gets very defensive. Kainami is a bit of a...special Chocobo. The Miqo'te came across it while entering the stables to receive her company mount. The troublesome chocobo had broken free of it's handlers and ran full tilt into Lillith, sending her sprawling to the ground. Instead of continuing in it's persuit for freedom, Kai stopped, leaned down and pulled Lillith back to her feet by tugging on her tunic with it's beak. It then proceeded to simply stare at her. Lillith stared back, and found that this mount seemed to be suffering some type of disability, while one eye stared straight back at her, the other went askew, looking in a completely different direction. This chocobo was walleyed. "Kweh." It uttered in a completely monotone voice. The handler of course made a big fuss over the incident and tried to get Kai back into it's stable but the big bird kept stepping away from the handler, each time ducking behind Lillith. Laughing, she began to stroke the mount's back and insisted she would take this steed for her own. This, of course, lead to several hours of the handler explaining why it was a very, very bad idea. Lillith didn't find a reason for worry however, and dismissed his warnings, taking the mount for her own. Much to her surprise, Lillith learned that Kainami was fast, fast enough that even with the disability it could keep up with normal chocobos, and could even go neck and neck with a Chocobo bred specifically for speed. On the down side however, Kai appears to be incredibly simple minded, prone to flopping on the ground and rolling about in the dust, walking funny, standing and staringly blankly with it's tongue hanging out of it's beak, "petting" people by flopping it's head against theirs, and chewing on hair. Kai also seems to only be able to make one sound, a very flat, mono toned Kweh. Kai has a particular fondness for the hair of one Meta Xi, who has a slight aversion to the strangeness of the bird. Despite this however, Lillith is fiercely loyal and protective of her Chocobo, whom in term is just as protective over it's Master, often rushing to defend the archer should she find herself in a situation she can not handle. LiadansWhisper Posted August 23, 2014 Share #35 Posted August 23, 2014 Liadan has a special relationship with her Chocobo, Courageous, that she was issued by the Adders. She named him Courageous because she sees in him the courage that she doesn't see in herself. And recently, Courageous may have saved her life. He's way better at fighting than she is. T'shina Posted August 23, 2014 Share #36 Posted August 23, 2014 T'shina has a couerl. A blind couerl. She had watched the couerl pack/pride in her travels and took interest in one of the older couerls that seemed to be pushed aside by the others. He had trouble getting some of his meals but got by on what he was able to get with his handicap. Shina then coerced "Percy" to her with fresh meat and would talk with him and after some time and effort, the blind couerl was her traveling companion! Link to comment

Zyrusticae Posted August 23, 2014 Share #47 Posted August 23, 2014 Well, I mean... you can do that now, sure, but when they add chocobo breeding and all of our company chocobos are revealed to be males and you have to go running into the Chocobo Forest for a female to breed with, you're going to look kind of silly then. True and also there would be females as blackmarkets happen as do random breeding from said blackmarket chocobo. The lore only states that Ishgard only exports males. As long as you did not IC buy your chocobo from a licensed Ishgardian dealer, then your girl bird doesn't violate lore. Link to comment
