Caspar Posted January 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2015 So I've finally rolled on Balmung. My character is [Virara Wakuwa]. I haven't made a wiki page or a profile thread yet... but I already know the character's background and general nature. I'm rushing my character to high level, already lvl 11 since last night. What I'm looking for: 1. An OOC LS to discuss ongoing and upcoming RP with players, so I have an in if an opportunity presents itself and they would like to play with me. 2. An FC that can help me do dungeons later on that I can make connections in. If it is RP so much the better; I'll gladly think up an explanation and RP out joining retroactively if that is necessary. 3. I would love to see players who find my character interesting (even if they just think she is cute...) to get to know them and their playstyle so I might be able to participate in RP with them at some point. My character's traits: 1. A martial artist. The way she moves and stands conveys a certain economy of form, nothing wasteful. She is a bit foreign, but her accent is hard to notice. 2. The tallest, most hale lalafell you've ever seen... she's also got a kind of strange intensity to her that makes her a little intimidating. Her glare gives you a feeling of being stared down by a wild animal or rabid dog, rather than a Spoken. By standards of her race, she is statuesque and very pretty, but cold and unsavory looking at first glance. 3. She came to Uldah to face the "Holyfist," but he ignored her request for a challenge and instead took her as an apprentice. She was too bewildered to stop him. 4. She was stronger once but became crippled and severely weakened for a certain reason. She is currently rehabilitating herself and getting back her old strength and techniques. 5. She wears an eyepatch sometimes even though her vision seems fine. She has subtle heterochromia, the more mundane kind where one eye is permanently dilated and thus seems lighter in color. The kinds of writing I like: 1. Martial arts and wuxia stuff. Of course. My favorite Wuxia is Legend of the Condor Heroes. My favorite RPG series is Suikoden. 2. Political intrigue and war. Rivalries and backstabbing! 3. Personal character development stories centering around family or obligation. 4. Both dark and humorous stories. I wanted to make a character who can be both tragic and funny/cute. Not very good at romance, but not ruling it out entirely. 5. A common theme that I tend to unconsciously fall into is "fish out of water" or "being at odds with society" kinds of stories. Like ones where the times are changing and someone is unable to adapt, when they're a foreigner in a strange land, or when they're a person torn between different social/political groups and fitting into none very well. I hope that gives you an idea of what I want to do on Balmung. If anything I said interested you, be sure to let me know, either in this thread or in-game, or both! I'm pretty sure I've seen some of you already in Ul'dah. X_X I haven't done this kind of stuff in so long. I'm really entrenched on Hyp, so it's difficult to imagine making new connections on a new server. I know nobody, and it's a little lonely . Link to comment
Kage Posted January 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 8, 2015 Hi. I'm kage and GO LALAFELLS. I am amused by your usage that Virara is the "tallest" lalafell because Kage is the shortest you'll ever see. LS: You may have luck with the Friends of Momodi linkshell (check out who frequently posts that has it listed. Franz? Evangeline. Or maybe a /y in Quicksand about getting an invite? And now I shall run away Link to comment
Sounsyy Posted January 8, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 8, 2015 Feel free to walk up to Sounsyy Mirke whenever if you see her! ^^ (Also from Hyp! Woo!) Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted January 8, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2015 *waves* HI! Stalk Kage. He needs more Lalafellin friends and not tall, grumpy former-mercenaries that tried to kill him. Should you ever see Franz poking his head out in public, feel free to poke him. I promise he doesn't bite unless you stab him first. If you'd like an invite to the Friends of Momodi linkshell (it is quite full, so less-talkative/inactive members are pruned), Kage is on the dot. A quick /yell or /shout by the Quicksand in Ul'dah will do the trick, or I can add you when I get off work, if you're on and interested. And I have to say, I like the character concept! I'm typically either bashing my face in PvE content (I progress. ....slowly) crafting about, or looking for RP. If your looking for RP and have an idea you'd like to try, feel free to contact anytime! *looks at list of people he needs to meet for the first time* One day.... Link to comment

If not, I can pester someone who can. Link to comment
C'kayah Polaali Posted January 8, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 8, 2015 Check out the Open RP linkshell, too. It's a little less active than Friends of Momodi, but it's also got a different set of people in it (and a different flavor to it). Good folks, all! Link to comment

I appreciate that you received it well. I was deliberately vague, too. I'm interested in progression too. On my other server, I've really only T13 left to finish. Once I am max level, I can probably help people with just about any content they've not beaten yet, though often only as a DPS. I'm glad there's a lot of responses. I'll hop into the quicksand and ask about it sometime today. Link to comment
Kage Posted January 8, 2015 Share #8 Posted January 8, 2015 I can't say for sure, but your progression is probably higher than 90% of those on the RPC (active). There's also some LS, possibly, that is catered to both partying (dungeons) and higher-tier content. Either to farm or help. I tried but at some point no one really answered when I could hit them up to even send out invites. >One of the laziest people so since no one really bothered I figured it wasn't happening. I can see you're doing pretty well for yourself too. I'm primarily motivated to progress because I like big numbers and shiny looking gear, and because I am a completionist. I mostly just wanted to raid coil 2 before the echo because it was fun and because I was obsessed with the red-colored gear that matched my character lol. In this case I like to play a strong character, and having nice stats could help pad that I guess haha. Link to comment
Caspar Posted January 9, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted January 9, 2015 Erk, I was so rigid. I'm really out of practice all right. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted January 9, 2015 Share #11 Posted January 9, 2015 Eh, I had fun with it! I was heavily reminded of the NIN quest line, though, with the whole teaching to bow thing. Link to comment

I didn't want to copy it directly, but I figured she'd endure a similar enough problem. Once she gets there she will be the one teaching them to bow properly . Link to comment
