Gegenji Posted February 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2015 I have a fun thought project. Usually, we try to be fair and stick to lore. We don't try to present our characters as horribly superhuman beasts far beyond the ken of most mortals. We may take on primals or fight against dragons, but everything is usually kept in scope of what is already present in game... and something that doesn't make your character seem horrendously godmode-y or overpowered. But, what if you could? What if, for one moment, you could do the most super-amazing and awesome thing with your character? Skills, lore, capability be-damned. What is that one thing you'd love to have your character do... even if it was just once? Suplex a King Behemoth? Fire an arrow through an entire line of soldiers? Say the coolest, most badass thing you could think of to the Garlean Emperor himself? Walk away from a massive ceruleum explosion like a boss? ARM-WRESTLE TITAN? The only rule I'm putting in place here is that it has to be something you feel your character could or would do, given all limits were removed. Would your peaceful Conjurer really cast a Holy large enough to vaporize an entire Castrum without regret? That sort of thing. I actually got to do something fairly close to it in a fight with Virara. My ultimate moment of complete and utter badassitude for Chachan would be to straight up take up the most powerful, most deadly attack in the world for someone he cares about and just... remain standing afterward. Armor vaporized, hair burned away, heat HISSING off his flesh. But still standing, just straight refusing to go down. Basically, imagine the Ultima explosion from the MSQ... but afterward there's a small clear patch where Chachan shielded someone from the blast. Bonus points if it was a bunch of people. That's my ultimate for him - his desire to protect people being so strong that he will withstand ANYTHING to keep someone safe. ... What's yours? Addendum (Reveal hidden contents) I MAY have been watching my favorite over-the-top thing ever when I thought of this. Warning, contains Touhous. ... And soccer. ZkDT-OlkYTI Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted February 3, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2015 Warren already had his in-character, and surprise, it came at the Grindstone. He was fighting unarmed and unarmed as always and advancing through the brackets when Sindl called him over and basically threw down a challenge. Warren's next match wasn't against one of the folks in the tournament, it was against Lizbet Sharpe, and she was wearing full Noct gear except for the helmet, which was the badass spiked barbut. Her first attack was to ram him with the very spiky noct shield, which he couldn't very well block. Warren took the blow right on the body and held on, desperately grasping at the releases and tearing the instrument away from her. Her next attack was a wicked cut across the leg, causing Warren to stagger and removing his base. Warren then reached out for her helmet, again using his experience with heavy armor to tear off the casing to expose her face. She attempted to run Warren clean through - Not fatal, but would certainly end the fight in a painful, grisly way. By a small miracle he managed to sidestep the blade as she thrust inward and then he raised her helmet into the air, pausing for a moment before slamming it down and braining her with her own protection. Lizbet collapses in a knocked out heap. Warren drops the helmet into the sand with a heavy thud, gives one "...heh." and collapses to his knees. Reveal hidden contents When we began, I asked OOCly if I could get a little fancy with her. She politely agreed, and I told her my tactic was to take off her shield, then her helmet, then brain her with it. The match was done in six rolls, and the match time was about eight seconds of real-time. It happened in front of the whole audience at the Grindstone and I went nuts IRL when it happened. I even referred to the helmet as "his Excalibur," thinking then that I was breaking lore by referencing the blade but maybe I was just foreshadowing, hmmmm? Can't ever beat that, not going to try. Zhavi Posted February 4, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2015 Being able to have her aware of just about everything happening in Limsa Lominsa, with enough contacts to move anything anywhere and enough influence to be able to set assassins on someone's tail. It wouldn't be one moment, exactly, but a sliding line of them; each small action building up to that one potent sentence: "Oh, o'course I can see that done fer ye. . . . but what do I get out o' it, dovey?" Knowing that the other character knew that being in debt to her for a "favor" would be a Very Bad Idea. Ooooh, the fun! Why ya gotta be such a noob, zhavi? GOSH. as for actual moment of badassery? ummm... I guess when zhi finally stole the book from Lolo. #YOLO (zhi beating up hutarin would be a close second, but seiko kinda ..... took that moment away from zhi ;_; ) Link to comment
Desu Nee Posted February 4, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2015 Being able to cripple a Garlean Vanguard when she was barely in the ways of Thaumaturgy. Seriously, she was both impressed and terrified of herself. Link to comment
WhiteLycanXII Posted February 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2015 Lol, which one? I think the one most prominently featured for Nira was her second round in her very first Grindstone where she knocked out 'Lily Boulder' (Rosyia Stone). Not only did she take off a horn from her opponent's helmet, she also parried a shield bash with her forehead, and countered with a rising uppercut to send the foe flying onto her ass. Boulder was clad in full armor plating toting a sword and shield. Nira only had her bare hands, minimal clothing for flexibility, and her mentor's hand to hand training. Link to comment
Gegenji Posted February 4, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted February 4, 2015 Quote Lol, which one? One, any, all. Whichever degree you feel comfortable sharing. Keep in mind this doesn't have to be limited to things you HAVE done with your character, either, but also what you would LIKE to do. And it doesn't have to be physical acts either. Zhavi's is a good example - that one line that culminates just how much power her character has accumulated. Other random ideas that pop into my head of non-violent badass moments: ... Fast-talk Teledji and corner him verbally at a council meeting in such a way that he's led away in cuffs while you look on, smirking. ... A burst of healing so strong that it not only brings a loved one from the very precipice of death, but causes grass and flowers to burst into life around them as well. ... Making the ultimate sale to an important figure. "Oh, you want this? How much are you willing to pay for it?" ... Finding a game-changing bit of history at an archaeological dig. I just went for physical stuff mostly because that's what's easiest to come to mind. And I was watching them Touhous vids. And Touhou is all about that over-the-top power factor, as my embedded video shows. Link to comment

EVERY NIGHT IS ANYONE'S NIGHT. I remember that, she approached me after and lamented that maybe grabbable helmets are a bad idea. Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted February 4, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2015 If Steel were to have one ultimate moment of badassitude? It would be that she slaughters Odin singlehandedly, then takes up the mantle of Dark Divinity to forever roam the world as a hunter of the land. <3 That would be probably the only way this character could ever retire--as some sort of endless specter of pure martial power, never leaving the land to cull those beneath her. Zyrusticae Posted February 4, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 4, 2015 T'rahnu would solo an entire Castrum. Hell, she could do it, too. She'd need to set some traps, steal some magitek armor, and bring her chocobo along for assistance (does that count?), but she could do it. The one in Gridania would be easiest. Shoot at the guys at the front gate, get their attention while thinning their numbers out a bit. Pull back into the forest and use the cover of the trees to pick them off one-by-one. Commandeer magitek armor after killing the pilot and use it to push into the facility. Abandon it in a prominent location while rigging it to explode. Sneak through the rest of the way (as everyone else was reassigned to stop her at the egress point) to snipe/assassinate the commanding officer. One and done. Of course, this doesn't work if the CO is someone with the level of competency as Rhitahtyn Sas Arvina or Livia Sas Junius. Then again, given the thread premise, I could just handwave that away as her being on par or better than them given her top-tier equipment, training, experience, and cheating with the Echo. And in all seriousness... a conscripted Garlean grunt can't even touch her. Even five of them at once would be nothing to her. The officers would present more of a challenge given they actually have gunblades, but once she negates their range/firepower advantage they're toast. Only the magitek armor and colossi are an issue, and that's why commandeering one is so important. That being said, it's funny how big the difference in power is between magitek wielded by PCs and magitek wielded by NPCs... heh. Try not to think about it too hard. Link to comment
Sophia_Grave Posted February 5, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 5, 2015 Hmm. Sophia would probably carry out some sort of high profile assassination. I'd imagine her scaling the outside of one of Limsa's spires in the dead of night, sneaking into Merlwyb's office, and making sweet love to her murdering her for the Empire. Link to comment

It's funny because I hadn't intended for the attack to be that crushing. I didn't think it'd be strong enough to break cobalt. Virara is freakishly strong, and that strength has consequences for her, but apparently even I underestimated her power, haha. This after Chachanji stopped her from striking a life-threatening acupressure point to make herself stronger and force him to fight seriously, which impressed me a lot, since he didn't cave even after she threatened herself. I look forward to their inevitable rematch. Aside from my really, really obvious goal of having Virara and her Master go at it, (And hopefully not be anticlimactic and boring due to it essentially just being me writing back and forth at myself.) there are super spoilery scenes I have envisioned for my character that I can't share. I can share that I'd like to see her overcome and confront some grudge-holding assassins from Doma who haven't given up on the revolution. She'd of course have to conquer their unique and dangerous ways of fighting... It'd be nice to find a good context to insert some of the quotes I thought up for the fighting game character thread. I am fond of a few, and they have a strong action movie one-liner feel to them. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted February 5, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 5, 2015 Kell's already had his - Walk through Coerthas wearing this for people who he just met, just because it needed to be done at the time (the lightning sprite in the back isn't my pet, but it should be). If not badass enough, Kell isn't stupidly violent unless otherwise provoked, so likely it'd be talking a primal to either death or friendship. I don't know what Cwin's would be, but Sati's would probably be surviving a massive challenge on the Bloodsands, then having enough energy to throw a party right then and there. Link to comment
