Delilah Scythewood Posted February 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 5, 2015 Blue here on the forums already started a thread in the main FF14 forums about housing, located here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/217951-New-Housing-Wards-for-Balmung-please! It hasn't gotten much attention yet, sadly, but I think it'll benefit us all in the end if we show this thread a little love and add our own input. Especially since its the Balmung forums. So start posting folks! I know too many people and FCs who would really benefit from having a house and who have the funds to do so. Quick note: If you're going to post anything about housing here, add it to the thread above as well! Link to comment
Aysun Posted February 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 5, 2015 Considering I just dropped 11m into a small plot in the Goblet, which I managed to get from a friend, I support this post... Link to comment
Izayoi Posted February 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2015 I'll go post there when I get home from work today, although I am lucky enough to have my own house, I know many more want one as well. Link to comment

Yeah. I want a medium house myself and almost have the gil for it. But...who knows when I'll have access to the plots to buy one? Link to comment
QueenFrejyalen Posted February 5, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 5, 2015 Bluevann's screenshot of Yoshi's first statement about personal housing makes me laugh but it's followed by sad, angry mumbling afterward. Also posted my support over at the thread you linked! Link to comment

Knight Kat Posted February 5, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted on that thread. I don't want to be a downer about the chances of SE actually doing anything about the issue, so I'll say nothing more. At least I contributed out of pure hope. Link to comment

Every little bit helps I feel Especially with how many people on here I have heard complain about the housing issue. Giving it a voice on the official forums might help. Link to comment

Kage Posted February 5, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 5, 2015 Bluevann's screenshot of Yoshi's first statement about personal housing makes me laugh but it's followed by sad, angry mumbling afterward. Also posted my support over at the thread you linked! Also keep in mind the context and time when that statement was made. FC housing cost -much- more then than even the pre-devaluation of housing that is implemented now. It's not a complete false statement. It's just not current, at all. I'll be posting soon, but I just want to quote a relevant statement that Yoshi-P made during the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XVIII. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/213216-Letter-From-the-Producer-LIVE-Part-XVIII-Q-A-Summary-%2801-08-2015%29 A: We’ve been using all our energy to increase the amount of land, so we haven’t been able to touch this aspect of housing. However, with the new wards that were added, I feel that we’ve just about fulfilled the demands. We’ll continue to add more land, but we’d like to improve the utility of each house. However, the team that is in charge of housing, known as the Live Team, is also in charge of Free Company elements and the Gold Saucer, and they’re currently devoting all their energy to Free Company crafting and the Gold Saucer. We expect that they will be able to address this afterwards, but they will need a bit of time. Link to comment

allgivenover Posted February 5, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 5, 2015 I thought they stated they were going to add more wards as needed? Though I suppose them focusing on the Gold Saucer might be a little distracting. Link to comment
Zyrusticae Posted February 5, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 5, 2015 The sad thing is that, if they had added wards per-server based on population rather than throwing in flat quantities regardless of server pop, none of this would even be an issue. As it is, we have Balmung completely full pretty much all of the time, while other servers still have entire wards empty of buyers. Link to comment

Kellach Woods Posted February 6, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 6, 2015 Wait, so they said they want to make houses more useful... when a good portion of people don't even have access to one. Please use the auto-translate function Because I seriously do not get it. Link to comment
Kage Posted February 6, 2015 Share #17 Posted February 6, 2015 Well clearly because the other servers are free it works just fine /s Large houses feel empty because after awhile you hit the limit on how many furnishings can be placed. So they want to increase that capacity. Whether or not that's true I dunno. I think I capped the amount of things i can put in my medium house and it feels empty. But hey, lots of people are looking forward to Gold Saucer and shit so... They probably won't respond anytime soon Link to comment
Reshie Posted February 6, 2015 Share #18 Posted February 6, 2015 This worries me. While I'd like to get a personal house I've put everything I have, as well as a few others, into trying to build up the funds to purchase a FC house. Now I'm worried we've been working our collective asses off for nothing... *sighs* Unfortunately, on Balmung the need has not been met and probably won't be for a while simply because of population density. I truly hope the ward situation isn't put on the back burner for any length of time since I know we're not the only ones in this situation. Link to comment

We've been scraping together every penny and nearly have enough for a plot but is there even any point? Sorry if that sounds melodramatic, I was just excited about getting a house... Link to comment

It's not melodramatic, I that sentiment. It's... frustrating, that this is the situation they've gotten into when housing is such a standard feature in modern MMOs these days. I mean, nice that they've tried, and what they have is nice, but only if you have one. Feels a little like they've missed the mark here. Link to comment

Delilah Scythewood Posted February 6, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted February 6, 2015 A lot of our problems stem from the fact that we're on Balmung. True, but just think of the other high congestion servers that are out there on both the NA/EU side and the JP side. Considering the amount of Japanese players compared to the rest of us, I wouldn't doubt that a lot of them are having just as bad a time as we are. Link to comment
Enzo Posted February 6, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 6, 2015 Just thought I would mention the Japanese servers have a significantly lower population than the NA/EU ones. The highest population Japanese server is the 30th highest on the scale overall. Meaning there is 29 servers with higher populations. and there are EU servers TWICE THE SIZE of the largest Japanese server. The top five highest population servers are EU and the other five of the top ten are NA, none of those include Balmung or Gilgamesh. Balmung is the 18th most populated server and Gilgamesh is the 11th most populated server. Granted Balmung is a significantly more ACTIVE server. But based on populations alone NA/EU far outranks Japanese servers and are probably suffering from the same housing problems we are. Meanwhile Japanese servers probably have a much lesser problem with this. (Not saying it is non existent for them) The Japanese are going to focus on their home market. So the worries of their bigger market share may go ignored. (Not unheard, they will get to it eventually) I am sure the FFXIV EU and NA teams don't like this either. But there may not be anything we can do. Link to comment
