I'm already there! beach combing 2 person chocobo relay racing down the beach crab hunting and so much more! Those are some great ideas! We're still discussing entertainment amongst ourselves but if yourself or anyone else would like to perform, or lead something, please do get in touch. We're hoping this can be a sort of casual (since it is after all an open air bar) stage for thespian characters. Link to comment

Tali Posted February 19, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 19, 2015 Pack your Gyshal's, folks, the first beach-based Chocorallydashsprintrace (Name to be finalised) extraordinaire will also be taking place as part of the evenings entertainment, for those feeling adventurous. BYOB* or make use of the limited number we've procured for the eve, we've plotted the course to be fair for birds and riders of all skill levels! Your own bird, or one of ours, it doesn't matter. Ultimately... it all comes down to the skill of the rider. fR2hajcuFEM Cb3G5Qj_Lo8 It's all good fun in the end, and more importantly, the birds get to stretch their legs and play in the sand and surf. And honestly, isn't that what counts the most? What's this? "No!" I hear your cry. "To Hells with the birds! The race is life!" I hear you scream. Well, you're in luck. (Also, you're an awful person.) We've prepared some race materials for you! Aren't we nice? (Unlike you.) Firstly, an overview of the course map: And again, with masterful annotation skills applied: Take as long as you need to study those, and then take a moment or three to watch the following: 5E4T2gdfRaA That's the layout, folks. Hope to see you there! *BYOB - Bring Your Own Bird. Obviously. 1 Link to comment
DeletedUser Posted February 20, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted February 20, 2015 Just a little reminder that this is happening tomorrow! See Kilid's post for details about the entertainment this week, chocobo racing (and many thanks to Zymzu for the idea), if you're interested in participating in that as well. Link to comment

DeletedUser Posted February 21, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted February 21, 2015 Wow, thanks so much to everyone who showed up tonight! Really wasn't expecting such a turnout but I was pleasantly surprised! Of course a big thanks to our bar staff, to Tatayo for running the chocobo race and also to Altonio Salaphonte for helping us tidy up afterwards. The winner of the race was R'khei Tia! Congratulations! A sampling from the many (many) screenshots I took: The weather didn't start out very promising. Here comes the sun, do do do do... Right about when it started to get hectic for our bar staff. More showing up... And more! Mustafa in all his muscular, mustachioed glory. Everybody good for drinks? Leading in the pack chocobos. Time to start cleaning up and get some well earnt rest! Thanks again to you all and see you in a fortnight two weeks for the next Sunny Seaside Bar! Link to comment
Tali Posted February 27, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 27, 2015 Jackal & Hide are proud to present... The Sunny Seaside Bar II: Triple Triad Tournament Edition. (Turbo*) We've thought long and hard about what to do for this event, given that Godbert stole our Chocobo racing track the Golden Saucer now hosts a far better, glorious, wonderful and much improved version of our race track. There was only one answer. There's a craze sweeping the nations. It's a bug that's bitten people from all walks of life. A competitive desire burning in the hearts of men and women alike. It spares nobody, young or old, rich or poor. It's Triple Triad. On the beach. Starting halfway through the 7th Bell past the midday sun, on the 7th sun of the 2nd Astral Moon, Jackal & Hide will be hosting several mini-tournies for those of a mind to find fame and glory. And once the dust and sand settles, and a final winner of the evening remains, standing tall**, we'll be there, to present them with their prize. For their shall be a prize... The victor of the Sunny Seaside Bar: Triple Triad Tournament Edition will be the proud owner of nothing less than Something Nice™! And, of course, free drinks for the entirety of the evening as part of that prize. Now, it's worth pointing out that due to whichever law it is that's in place that prohibits gambling via cards is going to be in effect at the bar. There's nothing we can do about that, the law's the law, and in this instance, we're very much inclined to obey it. However, try as the law might, they can't stop us completely! Instead, we'll be hosting the tournament in Costa del Sol proper, on the upper decks overlooking the coast, presenting a calm and relaxing vista for our intrepid duelists! We know that TT isn't going to be to everyone's tastes, and that's why there's no pressure to join in. We'll be hosting the tournament towards the south, near Gegeruju due to the limitations SE have placed on where you can play TT. This leaves the bar free for socialising, which is nice! On the offchance that people prefer it over at Gegeruju's, in Costa del Sol proper, then we may be inclined to move the event over that way. That's still up in the air, and depends on how many people are interested in the tournament. Naturally, with an event like this, we couldn't resist the idea of a theme for the night. Anyone dressed in three colours*** receives a discount on their drinks for the evening. Intent on turning up in a bikini? Dye your sandals! Tournament rules: The first version of the tournament will be open to card players of all abilities, with separate tournaments for people of varying levels of confidence and ability popping up in future events, depending on popularity and demand. Entrants will submit their name to a member of staff on the evening, and will be paired off to challenge one another. The duel consists of three rounds, with a "Best of three" ruleset in play. If someone wins two rounds in a row, they progress automatically. At this stage of play, there's no restrictions on cards that you can play. Future events may introduce deck themes and restrictions. Card rulesets, such as All Open/Three Open/Sudden Death, etc shall be decided on the night. We're open to recommendations and will take popular opinion into account. Currently, that's it! Rules may be tweaked nearer the time, but we'll make it abundantly clear if that's the case. The bar opens officially at 7pm GMT, and the games at 7:30 GMT. Hope to see you all there! * Just kidding. The Turbo version will of course be saved for a future version of the event. Someday, we might even throw in a Super, too! ** Lalafell need not stand tall. Just... do the best you can. *** Three dyes. We're aware that the game won't let you dye an outfit completely, so we'll overlook any minor additional colours, such as trim or detailing. Link to comment
Xenellia Posted March 5, 2015 Share #24 Posted March 5, 2015 Erm... Well the Triple Triad tournament is a good idea, but did you test it? Pretty sure Hidden Falls isn't a Triple Triad zone. You can't challenge anyone there. Link to comment
DeletedUser Posted March 5, 2015 Author Share #25 Posted March 5, 2015 We did test it, and that's why the tournament will be held in Costa itself. Kilid's post has all the details. Link to comment
