Most of the type, people aren't really with these mounts ic'ly. Specially Ixion. Most IC mounts are either chocobos, or less silly flashy mounts, but ultimately it's down to the person really, there's no RP Standard regarding mounts besides common sense.

I'm not shy from using the exploits, but I mostly use them around peak times. I know, perpetuating the cycle, but if I'm 90kd, then I might as well just turn it off and go to sleep, because in no way I can relog in 4 hours and want to play again. Derplander is the WoL stand-in meant to be our character in all the cool CG scenes. It's important to note that he is NOT the Warrior of Darkness and Derplander's friends are NOT the Warrior of Darkness's friends. (So the CG Lalafell is not Lamimi). I'm not sure about the actual name, if he even technically has one. I just always saw him as placeholder in nice CG. I will always feel dissapointed it isn't. I mean, I get it's a stand-in for ours, but making it seem like it's own character would feel like a parallel story. Heck, on that reveal, making he appearing on the HW made it make sense. I dunno. Wasted opportunity, more parallel universe BS, we're going to Ivalice and slaughter everyone like Mache did.

In my experience PVE players generally don't care if you RP. They are more concerned with raiding. The only possible time they have to waste harassing nerdier nerds is when there's very little to occupy them. Like right now. I highly doubt it will last. I want to raid. but EST times screw me over :c

A lot of them seem to retire by lol die, which a lot of times I think it's kind of unfair and expected? Honestly, if I would retire Quki, before the whole Fantasia/Name Change, I would definetly just make that she's tired of an active life, and decides to settle down on some residential district and make a simple living; that way I could move forward, but if anyone ever wanted to talk to her, I could always rp her as long as not in-game.

Yeah just stating that obstacles will naturally come, and that's unavoidable. One can simply hope for the best, as a community, roleplayers are used to be ostracized.

tl;dr = People be hating yo, I would go to check the server if I had patience to level alts.

Here's a simple fact. For a people that already dislikes RP, it's not only their server. They want them to not be *anywhere*. Not even in Balmung you escape the vocal community, it's simply drowned because the server is really big and it basically embraced every steriotype that other servers threw on them, because they would anyway. The people that dislike them don't hate them for a reason, but an excuse. They aren't bothered by your existence, and I would bet a sum of them are crafters that realized new players = new competition for their overblown prices. The Mateus community will definetly face some opposition, and that's a fact, but if the efforts to nurture the community there are genuine, then they will survive, because unless the entirety of the server comes in naked and spams ring of thorns on any open rp, or any FC that nurtures RP, then it's not about what they bloody want; Cactuar pushed a lot of rpers, but because they were vocal enough about the dislike that it ended even on Official Forums.
