Just wanted to post a note - Enjin continues to still have weirdness with their application system; we have no idea why, but sometimes applications come through blank. It does this with FC applications and Alliance applications. It doesn't seem to matter which it is. Please remember to copy all of your answers to a Notepad or Word document, so that if you have to repost your application, you can just copy and paste everything back over - if this happens, we will contact you first via Enjin, then via game if your Enjin profile has your characters listed. We've sent in multiple complaints to Enjin, but they haven't really done anything about it. :dazed:

I believe the differences are that the names of the FCs are different, but I'm not sure about the tags. I can't remember if tags are unique or not.

Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Fulcrum replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
I have an Heavensward Keynote Gallery up on Imgur of all the slides (except one joke one, and the level cap raise one) from the Keynote on Heavensward. There's some additional information from what I remember from the whole thing. -
Great! We're usually on in the afternoons till late evenings, if that helps. I personally tend to log around 3 AM. :moogle:

This FC is still available for anyone wanting to have an NPC tag next to a characters name for plot purposes. There's no requirements for joining, no length of time required to stay, etc. Both myself and Lin Celistine can get characters tagged for this now.

We're a bit behind in updating due to August/September being really horrible out of game for most of our leadership and core members, on top of having the Ember Alliance start to grow. We'll be making an update to the free company IC info to catch everything up to current storyline soon.

Thanks! We put a lot of effort into the free company, story arcs, and site. =) Sorry for the delayed reply. I was on vacation, and when I got back, my power supply essploded. Didn't get a replacement and such till recently.

Yes, this is a different one, though I thought there might have been one before I made this one. There's been one NPC that became a PC, and a persistent NPC I have currently in it, and one other that was just fodder and got deleted so far. A couple of others I know are trying to decide if their alts are PCs or NPCs, but it's still relatively new despite the creation date - I basically created it on a character I knew was going to be an NPC to get the name and tag as soon as I got to that part of the quests, even though a few things kept me from offering it up to others immediately.

"Every story needs antagonists and good supporting characters...but which is which?" Non-Player Character is not your typical free company. It is designed for the storytellers of other free companies to hide their various NPC characters from their members, rather than having them in their actual free company, while giving them a distinct tag that clearly shows they are not just another player, that there is plot or some sort of quest associated with the character. It will also give storytellers a chance to network with other storytellers, share NPCs, and give storytellers a go to free company to ask for NPCs rather than having to create them for temporary NPC work. While the company itself will likely rank up slowly, it will provide some benefits to its members over time, beyond the custom tag and place to hide the characters. Members are free to come and go as necessary, though long-term NPCs are more than welcome to stay for extended periods of time. As mentioned, even temporary NPCs who need the tag for a couple of hours can join. To join, please send a private message here to Darkfae and Hyrist (please have both in the To listing, it makes things easier for both of us to receive all PMs), or send an in game message to Claire Brea or Lin Celistine - the guild is managed by our NPCs. :tonberry:

I've been pretty inactive around here, and for a few months, I was less active in game than I have been. I debated mentioning why here, or not, but decided to do so now that I'm becoming more active again. Back near the middle of February, I was in a minor car wreck that actually did some pretty unpleasant damage to my spine. For the past several months, while my doctors have been sorting it out, I've barely been able to keep up with running free company events. Recently, it's been getting better, after getting a lot worse just a couple of weeks ago. So, I'm starting to be around more than for just FC events - hopefully I can be more active on these forums again, and around the community. For the more part, I'm playing Claire and Safiya, with the occasional jaunt on Kym'a.

I have updated this linkshell information page with more current information, which is a reflection of an update done to our website. Dark Embers currently has two on-going free company story arcs in place, with a third lined up for activation around mid-August. These arcs have already taken personal elements from members' histories and current stories, allowing their fellow members to find out more about them. The first is Probably Primals, which runs as sort of parallel arc to the Main Scenario as it introduces new Primals to the game and lore. It involves learning about the Primals and their followers, and not every event results in combat - sometimes they're more of a puzzle, or a solemn occasion, or a heartbreaking discovery than a hack and slash adventure. And the actual fight against a Primal is no walk in the park - there are casualties amid the members, some of which are dire, while their allies are also injured and people like their Grand Company support die; there are consequences to taking on something akin to a God, and we try to keep that very tangible in our story. The second arc that recently started is called Outbreak, wherein a voidsent curse has become more of the start of a void plague. While the Grand Companies disbelieve that such a situation is possible, the Embers are investigating the potential catastrophe, despite the potential danger of being infected by the vicious void energies. The upcoming arc is called "Ties That Bind", and will lead the company into the Binding Coil of Bahamut in character, which we've actually been doing as a raid force. This story again runs in parallel to one provided by Square-Enix - the Chronicles of a New Era Bahamut Quest line, with our own unique twists and turns. A great number of personal character ties are involved with this particular plot, as we have Twelveswords and Meteor Survivors in our company, as well as a number of individuals who have interest in Allagan technology. Raid wise, we're enjoying all turns of the First Binding Coil of Bahamut, while preparing for the new section of Crystal Tower. We also are working on Titan Extreme, and will be moving on to Ifrit Extreme within the next couple of weeks. We also always go back to prior raids and help our members get their relics, story quest raids, and fun things like Moogle weapons.

My FC has been having silliness with our FC chest funds. This is the latest. If you get it, you have good tastes in music.

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
Fulcrum replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
The Grindstone has always been more of a Fight Club type event, which focuses on the physical combat arts, rather than spellcasting. Rough and tumble fighter combat, and it's a unique thing they've got going. Keeping it purely physical also keeps a lot of "class balance" type problems that always come up between spell slingers and melee combatants from arising - keeps it all simple. As mentioned, no one has really tried doing a dualling group for mages, and I really don't think anyone would get offended if someone did. Probably would take a lot more in the way of rules than purely physical combat though, which is likely why no one's done it yet. Also, re-cross posted on the Dark Embers calendar. Had to remake it cus of damn DST bullshit and Enjin. T.T -

Doing that monthly cross posting thing (albiet a little late cus medical blahs). Grindstone still going strong? -
Cross posted to the Dark Embers calendar. Going to try to stop by and watch this, cus it sounds fun, and is way before our regular FC event. :moogle:

Cross posted to the Dark Embers calendar. Neat idea!

Cross posted - getting to the monthly cross postings a bit late this time around. >.>

Cross posted to the Dark Embers calendar. A few of us may drop by briefly, but it's pretty close to our weekly FC event, so we might have to leave before the event finishes. Curious about it though!

There is another instance of dimension hopping that is canon that will have greater impact than these, as it's not a cross-promotional thing.

In search of a new home and like-minded contacts!
Fulcrum replied to Dravus's topic in RP Discussion
You may want to take a look at Dark Embers. While we're still gathering information from our members to make more personalised plots via our Advanced Character Worksheet (an optional thing we have that basically allows the members to give the storytellers/leadership broader information about their characters to work into the FC story arcs), we plan on rolling out plots that incorporate our members and our RP allies personal stories, as well as the stuff SE provides via the main scenario, class/job, and side quests; as it is right now, members are advancing their own personal plots and they're sort of intersecting anyway, but there's a lot of background work there too. We're actually getting into some stuff that involves more than just our FC here soon, so there's also that. We also try to adhere to the lore as closely as possible, even though a lot of it was made inaccessible in the change over from 1.0 to 2.0 - it's so sad a lot of sites outright scrapped the old quests rather than archived them! As for personal RP, feel free to nudge me on either of my characters, and if you're looking for any sort of antagonist, I have one of those in the works that is meant to span across multiple individuals and FCs, and potentially work with other antagonists who become interested. -
OOC: Cross posted to the Dark Embers calendar. We've got a few healers who've been curious about the IC aspects of healing, and since it's well before our FC event times, I'm going to be poking them to go to this.

I still need to hire you for some magitek stuff. X.x

Dark Embers is doing progression raiding/PvE content, though we've not started Coils as a full FC yet - should be doing so in a week or two. We ended up with a lot of newer individuals who weren't fully geared for it, and we've been getting everyone caught up. We're currently getting everyone their Ultima and Garuda Ex jewellery as well. Once everyone is caught up, we will be keeping up with the content, however. We're also a medium-to-heavy RP FC with an in progress FC storyline that will actually give us an IC reason for being in BC. If you're interested, we're having a meet-and-greet on Sunday - send me a PM for more information on that.

These still going on? I've not made it out the past couple weeks due to being a bit busy, but I wanted to check on it.
