Ah, very good~ not only would it be helpful to have another member of the Flames allied with her (and another officer no less!), but anyone with connections to noble families in Ul'dah is bound to be useful. Additionally! Anstarra's taken a page/retainer under her wing, and is helping to tutor her in noble comportment; Nako'li could no doubt be of aid in that respect as well! more than likely feel free to drop me a line to arrange an initial meeting

Feel free to drop me a line to work things out, I'm the one offering Thaumaturgy lessons at the guild starting this weekend. Also, blocking aether in another person, please, step into my ex-mage hunters office.....

Nako has tutored for noble families before, from the classics (language, georgraphy, history, writing etc) to more arcane studies, if the child had the gift, and sometimes even if they did not (for some parents simply refuse to believe their child isn't magical.) so has some connections with noble families across the realms, though primarily in Ul'dah. He is has also been around military most of his life, serving as both a contractor and now a full time officer of the Immortal Flames (as well as some more dubious work for a sister organisation that is now non-existant) so has spent time at officers balls etc. so I would be more than happy to help out, I've been looking for more rp as it is anyways

well, we can always arrange a reason for them to be meeting ooc (so that we actually meet ) and leave the rest to ic

I have set up some doodle thingys for the three different guilds, all times are in GMT, and will be going with the most popular time that people select. Unsure if it will be 1 or 2 hour blocks currently. Thaumaturgy: http://doodle.com/kqevu6723wmy6z3v Conjury: http://doodle.com/fufafrdutk82rtg2 Arcanum*: http://doodle.com/cckaqy9iis2bv3pp *I am unsure if I will have my daughter on the first weekend or second put down for Arcanima, hence 2 weeks being put up for selection, when i know, I will edit it appropriately.

I think when it comes to having the secondary class, that is simply a game mechanic, there is no mention of the alternate classes with the job quests, merely as a seperate entity.
-
I kind of have a complete NPC family group that Nako came from in a cave around Northern Thanalan. so yeah, I'm open for people to have trade relations with it? or something like that.
-
Nako is also based in Ul'dah, drop me a line and we could work something out?

Hi, I play a mage (whose fallen on some hard times with being locked out from the majority of his magic at the moment), whose attached to the FC/LS Yatagahns, so more militaristic, but before that he was a tutor in aetheric studies. I'm always willing to talk about stuff, and especially going into the more indepth whys and wherefores of magic if that interests you. (on that note, I need to get in touch with the mysterium guys )

very interesting replies, I thank you all. This wasn't a thread to defame one way or the other, simply to see other peoples standpoints.
-
I am also rping a mage, though he has come into some trouble recently with his magic

I'm lead to believe, through my readings, that other than some (Paladin, and to an extent, Summoner and Scholar) that the jobs are meant to be super rare, especially white mages, where the storyline PC is the only non padjal to be granted the teachings, and thats due to being granted what is essentially the essence of a previous white mage. Therefore, I pose the question in the thread title, if these jobs are so rare, (one person out of all of the people in Eorzea) do people rp as the Job, rather than the class?

If my character hadn't gotten himself kidapped then I would be socialising more. that being said, until recently I had sort of left the RP scene, now I am with a more established group, its growing on me again. If you ever see me wandering about, feel free to stop me and say hi, My face should be a common one in Ul'dah, especially around the Ossuary.

Oh i know the lore, sorry, I put this post up because I ran into some people at an event, and just wanted to see what they did with the history (from a close region etc)

I noticed at an event that some people shared my surname. Having been in since Beta and not noticing any others before, I have come to the conclusion that the game is caching names for use in the random name generator. However, the point to this, Given there are indeed roleplayers that have picked my delightful surname, I would very much like to find a way to meet them in game . see the differences in branches of the family as it were. so yeah, if you are a Chalahko Miqo'te, get in touch

I'm doing it the easy way of - I don't have a Job. Nako'li is extremely talented in all areas of magic and Aetheric Manipulation, however, due to this, he can't draw upon the extremes of any of them (a la red mage).

I agree with Liadan. But I have had a larger number of decent tanks in pugs. The only dungeon I have had to pull Topaz on was Hauke manor when the healer couldn't keep the tank up with the adds on the last boss. So we just got Topaz to gather them all up. And now I am a Scholar, I don't even get a tanking pet. But yes, the primary obsession is probably that its the new class.

People who bring up the lack of issues with the JP servers, just remember this: JP servers are dealing (primarily) with people in Asia. NA/EU servers are dealing primarily with Europe and North America. That's already double the strain. Plus the fact that in most games Oceanic players join the NA servers. I think its understandable that they are having issues.

I would think that the collectors (for physical at least) will come with the physical box, and given that the digital upgrade to CE from SE is only live at launch, I would guess that would be when CE goodies turn up.

Any of these character types out there for RP?
Aduu Avagnar replied to faceman7381's topic in RP Discussion
Nako'li is more of a Red Wizard than a sage, he is capable with some basic levels of melee combat, however, is also talented at magic. IC, he isn't taking a Job to reflect the fact that he can't cast the big powerful spells associated with Black/White magic. -
WoW has a trial, and is not F2P, WAR has a trial and is not F2P. free trial =/= becoming F2P its all to do with exposure. People like to try before they buy, hence the free trial. now, if the game is doing well, but not well enough to warrant staying as a Sub based game, then it will become F2P. I am slightly worried about how the dailies will be implemented, but still hopefull.

Balmung's Finest: Community Dungeon Crawling Initiative
Aduu Avagnar replied to Rhylund's topic in FFXIV Discussion
That would be cool, during P4 I know a lot of my groups came from the Intermission LS and Mumble Chat, but if there was something dedicated to this that would be good. -
Well, everyone died because the moon fell from orbit and released a Lovecraftian god monster who destroyed a continent in two minutes flat. No amount of healthy rivalry is going to deter that in the future. Even against the Garlean Empire, they have jet propulsion and we're using balloons. Plus it just makes more sense to me that in a world that's still rebuilding itself, there'd be a lot of skirmishes falling through the cracks that the official city-state military doesn't want to take credit for. The world was just blown up, it's bound to be in a state of civil and military unrest. I don't see everyone holding hands and sharing military tactics with each other in a time like this. As to why everyone would be hand holdy
