  1. O_o and now I just had my life and my friends lives threatened. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/220295-Dear-SE-please-unlock-Balmung?p=2785692&viewfull=1#post2785692
  2. God the logic of some of them people in my thread... apparently roleplayers are the number one problem for Balmung, nope not the RMT bots, only RPers. And we should shut up and get off their server, especially if we are paying $14.99 to have more than 1 character on a server. Oh and we should also stay locked out to prevent RMT spam too, instead of demanding SE address the issue. Basically any complaints we have, we should shut up about and go away according to a lot of them posters. How are these people thinking up this garbage?! They are even also trying to claim character data, that is stored on a different server, is what prevents new characters from being made. And apparently I am the most evilest of people because I have 6 characters, and want to make a 7th. This is just frustrating.
  3. My favorites are the ones who clearly have no clue what alts are, how they work, and how they are different from simultaneous logins. FFXI-->FFXIV white knights are hilarious. Yep, there's one that seems to think character space is the problem with the server. No. It's the amount of connections! I suspect if SE would get off their butts and actually ban the hundreds of black mage teleport hacking bots, we'd see the server unlock more often. Just the other day was in an RP with friends in the drybone inn, and a pack of like 6 or more lalafell black mages appeared, and began to leap at a phased npc, creating a weird after image effect since they all look exactly the same, then they did the leap again to the end of the bed, then disappeared. But what got me laughing in that thread, is the guy blaming the small rp community for the issues. In the greater scheme of things, rpers make up at most 15% of the server I believe. I encounter more PVEers than I do RPers.
  4. Well I posted a thread up on the official forums. Man the pigheadedness of some of them repliers O_o Telling people they shouldn't have alts, or to go play on another server away from their friends, it's ridiculous. Link to the Thread
  5. So friday tried staying up late on into saturday, kept checking because I have a new char concept I want to do. Server never opened. Last night did the same, again, server remained closed even though all the other servers unlocked. This is what it was like all night long: I'd love to make this character. Her concept for me will be interesting. A 7'3" Highlander Woman, that is a gladiator from Ala Mhigo, she's got the morales of a knight, but her major flaw: She's embarrassed about having odd-colored eyes, so she keeps her purple eye hidden under a lock of hair to obscure the view of that odd eye. Her name name is The Mountain Woman, because lets face it, a 7'3 all muscle woman with max sized bust, is quite deserving of the title. Unfortunately the server seems to be under lockdown 24/7 now. And I have a suspicion it's because of what I was seeing last night. Myself and 2 friends were roleplaying in the drybone inn, in the one room that has an empty bed, and throughout the rp, suddenly about 15 lalafell black mages would appear. THey'd jump over to where a phased npc is, giving a weird after-image effect, then jump to the end of the bed and poof out of existence. This happened about 3 or 4 times with completely different named characters. Basically I suspect it's all the bloody RMT bots that are teleport hacking everywhere, and are online 24/7, that is the cause of people being unable to make new characters. I really wish SE would get off their derrier and just do something about them. And maybe even bring back the auto-afk kick feature while they are at it for people who never logout, just sit afk when they are at work or asleep.
  6. My character was part of the Hipparion tribe, but was exiled. The tribe she was part of originated from Sagolii desert. But K'ailia now lives in La Noscea. Don't know if you'd be interested in that kind of connection
  7. First, the main story ending of 2.5 made me cry I liked moony. Second, wow did the Hildibrand story drop major lore bombs on us! Here is what we've now learned: When the mages of the world caused the Sixth Umbral Calamity, they were persecuted and left to form Belah'dia, a city devoted to magic. A city run by mages for mages. When the head family of Belah'dia produced twin heir's the heirs when it came time to take over, argued which one was the true heir to the throne. To settle the dispute between the twins, Belah'dia was split into 2 nations, Ul'dah and Sil'dih Ul'dah was all about strength and power, while Sil'dih was about knowledge and prosperity (I may of goofed on this going by just memory lol) Rivalry continued between the two siblings and their respective nations ended up having the same rivalry with the sister nation. War broke out between Ul'dah and Sil'dih, with both sides having a stalemate. The war came to an end with Ul'dah developing powder that turns the dead and living into zombies and launched it at Sil'dih, wiping that nation out save for a few survivors. One survivor broke into Ul'dah's vaults and stole quite a bit of the zombie powder weapon to store away, but was infected by the stuff and died. His ancestors continued the plot. Ul'dah found and laid claim to the 4 Belah'dian relics as their own, even though they were used by the survivors of Sil'dih to hide away their stolen loot. Ul'dah, to cover up what they had done to Sil'dih, formed a secret society that was charged with rewriting history and pinning the zombie powder on Sil'dih instead of themselves. That society was then charged with ensuring the true history was never revealed to the public. As if we needed more reason to dislike Ul'dah. But ya know what, this gives me ideas for my lalafell thaumaturge and why her parents were murdered by a brass blade. Makes a lot of sense now
  8. Alright so my character has been studying anatomy, medicine, magic, for 2 years now IC. She's ready to become official. However, I'm having problems finding another RP doctor that can help her accomplish that goal IC. Sure I could say "Oh hey I took a test and now recognized" but I like going that extra mile. So if interested send me a whisper on K'ailia Yohko
  9. Yep, they were there this morning too. I logged onto Miah, my moon kitty, decided I was going to work on thaumaturgy today. Went to central thanalan, and headed for the clutch, because I needed cactuar and quiverons. There, 5 thaumaturges in black robes, moving in unison and casting the same spells at the same time. I reported them and commented that there were bots there. Then once all my log entries were done in central, I started running towards western, and a fate spawned near that zone border. I thought "Awesome this will help my XP" but then I noticed I was lagging. Slowly, 5... 10... 15... yep 25 to 30 thaumaturge bots dressed in red. I called my FC to look at it, we couldn't believe what we were seeing. After admiring the sheer volume, I proceeded on to the zone border... finished loading and what do I see? An army of more red dressed thaumaturges! I needed the mobs around the mine, so made my way past them, got to the mine, and there were tons of black robbed thaumaturges, and a few teleport hacking. By a fiew, one moment there's hardly anything around me, next thing I know 10 thaumaturges appear, kill my target, then pop, disappear. Then I proceed to the swampy ruins area past Horizon. Oh look EVEN MORE BOTS! I didn't bother even checking the other zones. But the sheer lag these things generate in the area, is unreal. I even made a post on the official forums about it. And a few hours ago when I was last online, bots are still there. SE really needs to get a handle on this before these bots start doing RMT stuff with our ecconomy.
  10. The dimorphism in the Au Ra, isn't that bad. At least it's not: http://oi41.tinypic.com/bjhis5.jpg and http://www.blogcdn.com/wow.joystiq.com/media/2010/12/2worgentoo.jpg In fact, when I first saw the race, I totally fangirled out. I am totally making a female one to turn into a dragoon and/or possibly a dark knight. As for the astrologian, not sure what char I'd make into that. But Mechanist, I am totally gonna make a former Garlean ironworks alt for that!
  11. My character's in game namesday is 1/20, which is my real life birthday, so I age the character the same day I age in real life. I always go by real life time.
  12. Way I see it, everyone has a limited store of aether. Just like we all have a limited supply of blood. Loose too much blood and you go into shock, and can even die. And the conjurer quest line even touched on this. It is a shame then that the thaumaturge quest line completely ignored that, and instead says the main character uses their internal aether and have an over abundance of it to perform thaumaturge spells. So when it came time to choose, I chose the conjurer path when it came to fire, ice and lightning elements for my character. Relying on the elementals themselves to supply their aether with a little bit of my character's to perform the spells. And because ninja's ninjutsu has something from all six elements, I RP as well... basically a rogue that still utilizes elemental's magic. Also, when it comes to Aether, intaking too much aether, I take an FF7 approach. In FF7, when the character fell into the lifestream, he had a lifestream sickness. So my character doesn't ingest stuff that is aether enhanced, because of the inherent dangers of getting aether sickness. In fact, I believe one of the quests in the game even gave mention of aether sickness, I just can't for the life of me, remember which lol. Also when it comes to Aetheryte travel, one to two teleports is my character's IC limit per day. Most of the time she rides a mount, takes a ship or an airship to get where she needs to be.
  13. I'd agree that's pretty darn out there, but to each their own! I don't know of any biology in higher-mammals that would allow a female to control her own fertility. I too do the bitter tea route and use a RNG, since such things are never 100% effective. I just leave details vague since we don't have anything specific in game. Here's a question for ya. How do you roll the RNG? I had found a couple D&D style data's, but I haven't the faintest clue what DC10 and such are lol
  14. Wasn't entirely sure where to post this but since this is RP related, figured I'd post it in the RP Discussion. Plus we've seen a lot of threads about pregnancy, age of consent, etc. Which got me thinking. Are there any natural contraceptive herbs in Eorzea? Well I did some research on real world herbs that are said to work as contraceptives and I believe I've found at least 2 equivalents: Thistle - Temporary sterility by placing the entire plant in boiling water. The very bitter, strong tasting liquid is then consumed. An in game item that closely fits the description is: Shroud Tea Leaves. They have a text description of Picked from plants that grow wild in the Black Shroud, these leaves are extremely bitter and are not ideal for brewing tea. Wild Carrot Seeds - For when unprotected sex occurs, will work as an implantation preventer. One tsp of carrot seeds are taken immediately and continued each day for another 7 days. Obviously the in game equivalence is Coerthan Carrot Seeds. Who knows maybe those who RP doctors and healers, will find this information useful.
  15. Well for all intent and purpose, the game is in a medieval fantasy setting, with some nations already having advanced technology, while Eorzea is only barely scratching technology. Right now Limsa has the advanced guns, cannons and ships, their technology revolves around high sea's combat. Ul'dah has I believe trains, because of the various train stations in central thanalan. While the best Gridania has is water wheels. Only tech shared between the 3 nations is airships and aether travel. So for the most part, the nations are still in high middle ages setting, as we've got gunpowder, explosives, and the beginnings of trains. And even during this settings, the age of consent was pretty low. In fact here's a little reference: Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent So in Eorzea's case, Age 16 being the age of consent and when they are considered adults in some societies, would be fitting for the period Eorzea seems to revolve around. I know the Hipparion Tribe established on this very forum, that their age of adulthood is 16 assuming they pass the trials of adulthood they invented. My character is from that tribe, and is now an exile, but she did before she left, pass her trials. She is now 17, and considered an adult. In fact she's even engaged to be married, though IC she is waiting 5 days after her namesday to actually get married so she will be 18 when that day comes. And it's already been established in game that Ul'dah and Sharlayan have a consent age of 16, so I think it is safe to say Gridania and Limsa would be the same. Especially considering their technology is still relatively behind Ul'dah's, with Limsa's gunpowder use being just a couple steps behind Ul'dah's engineering. So I definitely think Eorzea wise, 16 is the right age group for consent.
  16. I believe I know what the new unannounced job will be. And all we have to do is look at the current clues: The first clue we got was YoshiP wearing a 007 T-Shirt, saying it is a big clue to what the new job is. 007 = James Bond. And James Bond the character, is a Secret Agent. The second clue was that the job would not be something people are expecting. So far people are saying they are expecting it to be one of the following: Chemist, Gun Mage, Gunner, or Musketeer. Since those are the most popular choices and YoshiP and the developers still say it is something not expected, we can cross all 4 of those off the list. The third clue, was from this interview. "•If you look at FF series of the past carefully you can imagine what it will be" Now with all them clues together, with the fact that they said it would be a gun related job, I've concluded that the job will be none other than... Agent! Primary Weapon - Guns Armor - probably limited to the same type of clothing as rogues Abilities: Escort - Probably will be a buff like Protect Flourish - Increases damage Fawn - Healing over time ability Enchant - Buff ally Interrogate - Shows a target's treasure, items, and gil. Also reveals invisible enemies and traps. Succor - Healing ability that also works as a cleanse (Not to be confused with the scholar version) Impassion - Grants a berserk buff to ally Reckless Abandon - Damage ability that also slows target The above taken from that wiki page. But it definitely seems like Agent being a gun job, serves as a healer and support character. And considering we just got a DPS Job (Ninja) and Dark Knight is confirmed to be a Tank, makes sense for the unannounced job to be a Healer.
  17. Well as bad as being suggested to put a "No ERP" tag into your 15 year old character's search, I can tell you having played on Moon Guard as Horde in World of Warcraft, things were way worse. Just being a female character of any race and logging in, you'd get whispers. And none of them even trying to get consent. But keep in mind this was during mid-Wrath of the Lich King days. But seeing as I left that game for good, I've no idea if it's the same or gotten worse. In the end, if they are aware of your character's age, and still try to coerce your character into sex, then they are predators trying to fill their kink and you can also open a ticket with the GM's about it. Especially if you tell them OOCly your character is a child. Those types should most definitely be reported.
  18. Yeah, people doing that out in the open and forcing people who do roleplay minors being forced to put no ERP in their search info, definitely are a problem. And usually, those types are the actual pedophiles, since they seem to go out of their way to try to find minor depicted characters. And I agree, people shouldn't be harassed in that manner.
  19. No problem, I only stated what my own character has been through in some of the RP threads on this site, and in game, and my views that works of fiction, don't make sense if real world law starts going after works of fiction. Only thing I do agree on is that knowing someone is a minor in real life, and still engaging in ERP with them, is definitely wrong and illegal and I can understand the law going after people like that.
  20. Well here's a little dilema though. A lot of miqo'te tribe rpers, Hipparion Tribe being on this site, have established in their lore that their tribe tradition makes those at age 16, be considered adults, if they pass the trial of adulthood. My own character, was exiled from the tribe at age 16, and through RP, has been thrusted into leadership roles, been injured from combat, etc. Right now my character is 17, and she's planning to be married around her namesday to a keeper she met, and has a romantic relationship with. Her lore which flows from the Hipparion tribe, says she is an adult. She's not a real person, she is a work of fiction, just like all of our characters. And considering how she was exiled (Sun Drake powder blown into her lungs), and the fact there's real world laws against child abuse. I suppose the ones who did that abusive RP, are in trouble as well? If someone can get in trouble for ERPing with fictional characters that real world laws say are minors, then the abuse my own fictional 17 year old went through would also apply. Let me make it clear though. I am completely against ERPing with real world minors. If I was in an IC relationship like that and I suddenly found out the other person was underage in real life, and didn't tell me the truth, IC or not, that relationship would be over. That being said, saying that 2 people with real life age of over 18, who play fictional under 18 characters, can get people in trouble because of real world laws, then we may as well apply every real world law to the fictional universe. In which case, the people who abused my fictional character, I wish them a lot of luck. See how silly that is? Real World Minors - No, they are off limits and rightly so Fictional characters - Just works of fiction and if people can be prosecuted for story telling then as someone else listed, there's a lot of real world authors who need prosecuted as well.
  21. I am gonna weigh in myself. Firstly, ERP with a real world minor is definitely a no. Absolutely under no circumstances if you know your partner is under the legal age in your area, should you engage in that behavior. However, that being said, unless we have the partner's start faxing us copies of their real world ID's, which will never happen, all folks can do is take the other persons word they are of legal age. Now on the part of RPing characters that are considered under aged, lore also plays a significant role in how old or how young a character would be. If lore dictates that a certain race is considered an adult at a certain age, and the character meets up with the lore, even though real world laws would consider the character under age, then sorry but I feel lore trumps here. This is an imaginary world where we got giant green/blue/red skinned hulks, elegant long limbed and lock necked elves, youthful looking cat people, and even a race that looks like child elves. But I do agree, that people should not be running up to an in-character 15 year old lalafell child to solicit for sex. And the best way to handle them, is to send them a whisper explaining the character is roleplayed as a child, and as such, their behavior is both unwarranted and illegal. Chances are, they will back off. If they don't, open a ticket with a GM, and if they are in an FC, considering you'd asked them to stop, and they refuse, usually a good idea to let their FC Officers know of the behavior as well. That's my two gil.
  22. Unfortunately I don't think I will have the gil saved up to buy a house on the 28th. I definitely want to get one in lavender beds, but 400k aint gonna cut it lol.
  23. Yeah, entirely possible that Qarn pre-dates even the 5th Astral Era and the anonymous Black Mage nation simply built Belah'dia up around Qarn cuz it was old and perty and probably had some dark secrets. We don't know. Although, if Qarn was 4AE, that'd be really frikkin old temple. 4000 years or so. In either case, still highly unlikely you'd find a White Mage soulstone there of all places. Amdapor was the nation of White Mages. You'd be much more likely finding a soulstone in Amdapor or at the bottom of the Rootslake. Based on Fernehalwes' answer stating there were certain other parties in the Shroud (I sense Lambs of Dalamud return!) using nefarious methods to resurrect Succor, I'm sure more lore on the subject will come to light in 3.0. Thanks for that info. So looks like I need to make some corrections to my chars history so it fits lore lol edit: looking over my notes, turns out I actually had left how she got the soul stone open ended. So rather than Qarn, gonna say she found it at the bottom of rootslake.
