Hesitating a moment, the girl glanced out toward the entrance of the tent as K'zhumi rooted through her satchel. It wasn't as though she had never been injured or even made a mistake before while out hunting, but somehow K'iara's words had made her feel incredibly self-conscious of the fact - almost as though everyone would plainly see that she had made such a disgraceful blunder. After a second or two of pause, she gave her response. "We located some new quarry, animals nothing alike to those we have been hunting upon the sands... albeit they are quite strong... ..One... caught me from my flank and I was knocked to the ground" she explained reluctantly as her hand came to rest softly upon her hip, earning herself a pained wince in the process. Watching it in silence for a moment, the girl brought her fingers to glide over the affected area, anxiously, as she mentally prepared herself for whatever K'zhumi would inevitably have to do to ensure that the injury wasn't too severe. After a moment, her gaze was brought back toward K'zhumi again, her eyes flickering in a moment's thought. "Ah... with it's horns..." she suddenly added vaguely to her already, quite-lacking description. It might be helpful for her healer to actually have a better response than "there were monsters... and I got hurt", after all. "They had curved horns...".

K'nahli was a little surprised to find that the K'zhumi wasn't inside; not because the woman was normally confined to her tent or anything, but simply because, now that she had been caught by the surprise of not finding her there, she simply didn't know what to do. The thought crossed her mind that perhaps she were off tending to some other business and wouldn't be returning to her own tent any time soon... and the girl was in no mood to go limping around camp in search of her. Before she even had the chance to lament the thought, the call of K'zhumi's voice from outside caught K'nahli's attention and bid her to turn around. ("Ah...") the girl thought with a sense of relief as he retreated back outside the tent until she was face to face with the woman. "I....Apologies for disturbing you like this, K'zhumi, but I would have your healing hand if you have not other priorities..." the girl spoke clumsily as her eyes wandered anywhere but the healer's eyes. Normally she wasn't particularly awkward with dealing with her own family, but the disgrace of being wounded the way she had was affecting her state of mind.

Though greatly relieved to have had a helping hand, the girl couldn't help but feel a sense of shame as K'iara helped her up into the saddle. Biting her lip, K'nahli said nothing further as the lead huntress offered some parting words and signalled for the bird to bring her home with a distinct whistle. Responding with a pleasing chirp, the chocobo quickly set on it's way in the direction of their new camp as commanded by the miqo'te, naturally oblivious to the fragile state it's current rider was now in. K'nahli huffed a subdued breath as the chocobo's movements quickly began to agitate the growing pain in her hip, as she had predicted. Regardless, the girl tried to push her discomfort as far as she could to the back of her mind, choosing to distract herself by taking some solace in the knowledge that the bird was both mature and intelligent enough to do most of the work with bringing her home, with very little guiding required on her part. ~~~ Arriving back at the camp, K'nahli coaxed the bird into a walk with a soft whisper as she drew nearer to the inner circle of tents. The campfire in the centre continued to burn brilliantly, creating an enticing, orange glow that illuminated much of the area around it. Gazing into it's depths for a few moments, the girl found herself hesitating before then choosing to guide the bird out of the direct light, deliberately lingering within the shadows behind the first set of tents to avoid as much attention as possible from those who yet remained to tend to the many other tasks while the hunt was in progress. She didn't need travel far before the welcoming sight of K'zhumi's tent greeted her weary eyes. Slowly, the girl slung herself down from the bird, hoisting a lot of her nimble weight around the base of it's neck as she awkwardly dismounted the yellow-feathered creature in the least painful way that she could manage for herself. Stopping only to breath a soft sigh of relief, the girl commenced to take a few steps forward, moving to offer a thankful pat against the bird's plushy cheek before gliding her fingers down along and across it's beak as she continued forward toward K'zhumi's tent. With a slide of her arm, the girl drew the tent flaps aside, calling out the healer's name softly as she did so. "K'zhumi...?" Her voice echoed silently within the cool interior of the tent with a tone that attempted to hide the weakness that sought to permeate itself through her voice.

Happy New Year, everyone ^^

Hahahaha, that's a very interesting perspective. I think this sums it up quite well. Also, Eva's well-written response shares exactly the same perception that I do of the matter. I won't ever try to dissuade people from their choices unless they're in my own community and I think something really doesn't fit(and only then, if I feel I am close enough to them to safely make such a remark) but it's their lack of place in Eorzea that impacts my own enjoyment. Riding a Behemoth or Reaper around the world as though it were natural just doesn't make sense in my eyes. Where is it supposed to stay? What are onlookers supposed to make of it? At the very, very least it would surely terrify people and that would get one into trouble not with the mere authorities, but the officials of an actual Grand Company or two. In Lili's example where the Behemoth is restricted to Coerthas and therefore(I'm assuming) only used for traversing the difficult and harsh terrain out there, then it seems more acceptable. There's a lot of unoccupied territory out there so there shouldn't be a great deal of panic even if it happens long numerous civilians/soldiers. It's not about imposing one's views on anyone else. It's simply a differing opinion on what seems right and lore-friendly. For 90%+ of those kinds of item descriptions, I don't personally think you're honestly supposed to take it seriously. It's just a fluff-born plug to give non-RP'ers any explanation for why the mount even exists. For example(MSQ 2.0 spoiler): Emphasis on personal opinion!

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
K'nahli replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
They don't aesthetically appeal to me in the race-to-class sense, but I actually find Roegadyn White Mages incredibly adorable. -
K'nahli shamefully lowered her head into a semi-apologetic bow as K'iara condemned her unusual lack of focus. She was right. Not just about the cause, but also it's intolerable presence in this hunt, of all hunts. "Forgive me, K'iara... I will not see such negligence repeated again.." she apologised with a reluctant sense of humility. She chose not to meet eyes with the head huntress as she spoke, though her words were as genuine as they came. K'nahli glanced sidewards, sending her gaze over to meet with the approaching chocobo that loyally hurried toward their position upon K'iara's call. As much as K'nahli loved the creatures, seeing them now only made her subtly wince to herself with apprehension as she watched their awkwardly uneven, yet necessary movements across the native terrain. "..I... can manage myself, thank... you" the girl replied to K'iara's question belligerently after a brief pause, shortly before the chocobo came to a halt nearby. Her hip was still in significant pain and she loathed the idea of having to pull herself up on to the chocobo's back, even less so the bumpy ride that would inevitably follow, but that pain would only come secondary to having to so shamelessly ask for actual help with the task. Her attention was then drawn to K'mih's movement as the girl relieved herself of K'nahli's weight and made to quickly set to the task as ordered by K'iara. ("K'mih...") K'nahli found herself silently calling out inside her head. She had never even acknowledged her sister's efforts to help her and yet calling out to her now only to say "thank you" only went against the girl's more timid nature, considering the presence of both K'iara and K'tahjha. Instead, her eyes merely followed the small miq'ote apologetically as her mind painted reminiscent images of the cold behaviour she had been unfairly rewarding her younger sister with as of late.

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
K'nahli replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
Hahahahaha, this made me laugh a bit >w< My friend will me making a female, Astrologian Au Ra herself whereas I will be almost certainly making a male, Dark Knight Au Ra. My second Au Ra, a female, won't really have a story of her own, not one that will be RP'd anyways(and therefore just some fluff for myself), so I have given her significantly less thought. I might make her a Dragoon. -
I've seen enough topics, particularly good ones, reduced to mindless drivel because some people decided to take things the wrong way and jump right into to aggressive/passive-aggressive replies to warrant my own leniency to caution ;_;

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
K'nahli replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
It's just not RP-related for me. Seeing a tiny lalafel charge headlong into danger and carry the team to victory is just too cute and too awesome for words(back when Garuda extreme was still tough I found it so inspiring, haha). I love lala tanks. If I were to take them and their size seriously then I'd say lalafels have no business being anything other than mages. -
The creature's wails of agony had only caused K'nahli to sink her head deeper into her arms, mistaking the cries for ones of anger rather than salvation. Her ears dipped low as every muscle in her body tensed in brace as she prepared for what she could only pray would be a quick end. .... ....... .......... "......." The thundering roar of those trampling of hooves, those which echoed forth the call of death as they crushed and destroyed the solid earth beneath them had suddenly and inexplicably subsided. It took a few moments before the girl would dare to remove herself from the safety of her arms, moments which should not have been loaned unto her, judging by the beast's impressive speed. When two anxious eyes finally peered over the stacked barrier both her arms had formed before her, the girl, despite her daze, managed to assess the situation. The creature had been distracted by something, wounded even. The long shaft of an arrow immediately caught her eye as it's fletchlings drew an unnatural silhouette through the starry horizon ahead while Menphina's ambient light struck a thin, powdery-blue outline beneath it's curvature. Protruding from a notably softer part of flesh near the billy's flank, whomever had fired this particular arrow, they had surely saved her life. A soft sound rumbled in the girl's throat as she quickly yet painfully reattempted to pull herself back to her feet. She had more strength this time, but still not quite enough to compose herself. She staggered from a half-kneeling position while letting slip agitated grunts, eager to move far enough out of the way should the beast decide to finish her before dealing with whomever had interrupted it's rampage. "K'nahli!" ".....?!" the girl quickly threw her glance sideward as a familiar voice suddenly reached out to her along with the aid of a comforting hand. "K...K'mih..." K'nahli blurted out with surprise as her younger sister wasted no time with taking her arm over her own shoulder in order to carry her weight and help her to her feet. K'nahli stared deeply into her sister's eyes for the short moment she were able with complete surprise. It was incredibly unlikely that K'mih had been the one whom had fired the arrow and yet... here she was. The older huntress blinked uncertainly before taking her glance away to focus on more pressing matters that K'mih herself had already, and more wisely, set to mind. No further words were shared as K'mih began leading her older sister away from the distracted billy, though it didn't take long before another, more distinct, piercing cry filled the air around them. The billy, now the focus of both the girls' stares, had fallen; it's massive and once threatening form now nothing more than a lifeless heap that lay upon the barren floor. K'nahli blinked a couple of times as her subtly-relieved gaze then shifted to focus upon an irritated-looking K'iara. Oddly, the maroon-eyed girl appeared more indifferent to her rescue than one might have expected. Perhaps it were that she had placed great confidence in the fact that her sisters, having simply arrived to aid the girl at all, had led her to almost, automatically assume that there was no longer a threat to her safety... or maybe it was simply the copious amounts of adrenaline that was no less than pumping through her veins after such an encounter. Everything else seemed to happen too quickly for the girl to process, now that she could afford to lose some focus toward her surroundings. K'nahli staggered slightly as K'mih was forced to let go of her and commit to K'iara's order to attempt to deter the beasts. She quickly winced as her entire weight was suddenly thrust upon her injured side, forcing her to rest a relieving a hand across her wounded hip. Her eyes sought to travel to observe K'mih and ensure that she was safe, given that she had been entrusted with a worrisome order. Fire? Really? The girl hardly had a chance to properly learn of it's workings, let alone incorporate it into a battle situation. The energy required to endure the pain and remain standing unaided, however, was simply far, too distracting right now. The girl whimpered quietly again as she attempted to reaffirm her footing in the ground. Her daze was subsiding now, but returning herself to her feet had, in turn, only made her feel momentarily light-headed. Her one, free hand pressed up against her temple for a moment in some attempt to more quickly alleviate the feeling; naturally to no avail. Before K'nahli had realised it, K'mih was calling out to her once again and promptly resumed her place by K'nahli's side to help support her weight so that she may walk more easily. K'nahli panted softly in half-breaths, breaths that sounded as though there were uncertain if a voice was to be carried along with them. The girl's eyes remained fixed on the ground as they took their first few steps, with K'mih quickly yet carefully leading K'nahli out of the immediate dangerzone. It was then that another voice called, one that was unfamiliar at first though their scent would soon betray their identity as they drew a little closer. "Can I help?" K'tahjha asked with a tone that hinted toward an unwelcomed concern. Despite herself, K'nahli couldn't prevent sneering slightly in spite of her pained expression as her face remained mostly hidden now that it were momentarily gazing down, toward the ground. K'mih, her beloved sister was one thing, but having even the young K'tahjha offer to help carry off felt offensive somehow. Nonetheless, K'mih would almost certainly accept her aid. Still, the girl said nothing.

On a related note, you may want to consider tweaking the title a little since it might be deemed as harshly-worded. Anyone who actually does use any 'out there' mounts ICly might take offence under the guise that you are demonizing their style.

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
K'nahli replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
I'm not sure if this was what you meant, but I'll list the races that are my favourite/the most fitting to the job in my opinion: ((Note: This is for aesthetics)) White Mage - Female, Hyur midlander Female, Lalafel anything(I can't tell the difference) Scholar - Female Elezen opposite-of-duskwight Lalafel anything Astrologian - Female, Miqo'te anything(more partial towards Moonkeeper possibly) Female, Au Ra anything(also more partial towards the "moonkeeper" subrace) Black Mage - Lalafel anything(I can't tell the difference; slight male preference) Male, Elezen Duskwight Dragoon - Elezen Duskwight Miqo'te anything Ninja - Miqo'te anything Hyur Midlander Monk - Male, Hyur Midlander Male, Miqo'te Sunseeker Bard - Female, Miqo'te Sunseeker Paladin - Lalafel anything Male, Hyur Midlander Female, Hyur Midlander (not what I typically see but honourable mention for being cute) Warrior - Male, Roegadyn anything Male, Au Ra anything Dark Knight - Male, Au Ra anything Male, Hyur Highlander Having said that, I have male, midlander warrior. Also this is not to say that I don't particularly like anything else, they're just the more "official" races attributes to the class in my book. Female, sunseeker paladins and warriors are also really cute. Not mentioning gunner since I don't really know. Also no mention for Summoner since I have no idea what they do other than make some random Egis appear around the map. -
Taking flavour text seriously is not something that you're honestly meant to do to be fair, haha. I will admit that I never really liked seeing Magitek mounts running about partly because I failed to understand how one could like it more than a chocobo and to actually use it as their regular mount, same with behemoths later on down the line. Whenever I saw those massive things taking up the screen or stomping on lots of chocobo in fate parties/group movements I did figuratively roll my eyes, haha. Not for RP reasons really but I just didn't understand the fascination. Ever since playing with my friend's lala though(in a very silly-style RP) I've realised that Behemoth really suits her character in a totally cutesy and ironic sense and I have since to appreciate the fact that it simple works in some instances, just not the "I'm so cool, I ride a behemoth" style! Maybe it is RP in a sense. I don't RP at all in-game but I dislike seeing people exposing skin in Coerthas and such, or running over your character/their mount instead of around them. This has evolved into me creating secondary sets for my characters to use in Coerthas and cold-weather dungeons for those that don't wear heavy, totally-concealing armour to begin with. Fat chocobo are adorable though. The way they seem to get massive, bum-wiggling air time is too precious. (I also dislike coeurl mounts. I find them totally unappealing but it doesn't bother me to see people using them. From an RP perspective it'd make me flinch though).

K'nahli is my main and "Friends" is almost the most prevalent answer across the four so I'll vote for that!

Hello, everyone! So I know that a lot of us are waiting for more information to be released about the Au Ra, but for those of us who aren't fantasia'ing existing characters and resuming ongoing stories; how many people out there have new plot ideas that will unfold with the coming of your new characters to Eorzea? Myself and a friend have a concept for our two characters(just their relationship and personalities really) but what we really need is an actual plot and community that our characters can play with. For us two personally, we prefer forum RP and are not heavy RP'ers in the sense that we'll definitely be playing the new content and focusing a lot on that and levelling our characters before we dedicate a lot of our time to the actual RP. That's not to say we're adverse to in-game RP and even if it will be your main focus then please do reply anyways, just be sure to mention your preferences! So, if anyone has even a basic plot in mind for their characters and are open to people joining then please do let me know here! It should be worth mentioning that any plot shouldn't include many/any non-Au Ra from the beginning since both of our characters will likely be xenophobic to varying extents; but having said that, please to feel free to mention it here if your plot will involve such and leave a little note explaining that detail.

I had almost entirely forgotten about this and it makes a very good point as to why the idea even came about. Also yes, I hope Lili doesn't mind how this came to focus a lot around miqo'te now.. ;
-
I feel it's a duty in the non-obligatory sense. A female might be socially pressured to bear children by family members/the elders but I have reservations with the idea that they have no choice, it makes no sense to treat the females with such a lack of respect towards their own, free will without punishing them/casting them out of the tribe. As for the nuhn, well sure he can potentially sleep with numerous women but it's not like impregnating many women at once is a very good idea, not these days at least. I can't possibly view it like a "harem" scenario because I imagine that everyone would regard the title with great respect. It represents the strongest(male at least) hunter in the tribe but he has no place making a game of it and if people deemed that someone were too irresponsible to hold the title then that would be considered a blemish against his name in spite of his strength. Viewing it in such a shallow sense feels like a more modern sense of thinking where young people are culturally conditioned to make light of casual sex. A tribe has serious responsibilities as well as a particular way of thinking and acting that is isolated from the majority of the civilized world. While some of you may think: ...a tia's view on the matter might probably be more like:
-
That's true but at the same time I don't think it'd be wise to throw caution to the wind and not care who gets pregnant and when since it creates an extra mouth to feed further down the line and temporarily strips a huntress from performing to the full potential of her duties(big deal post-calamity I imagine!). But yes, you're certainly right. It's very subjective.
-
Ehh? Please don't apologise, haha. I just wasn't sure what it was that you were implying. And yes, absolutely. There is certainly no concrete rule it all. It was fabricated entirely by our tribe and it wasn't meant as any form of guideline for anyone else(though it would be welcomed of course!). Our structure is quite strict when I think about it but breeding time isn't the only time permitted assuming that a huntress whom supports a nuhn is willing. In that case it can function as a normal relationship... though having said that I guess that also carries the risk of an unwanted pregnancy.... hm..
-
I'm sorry, this line confused me: I was referring to the girl who mentioned emotional bonds being sought elsewhere being an option. Reading her words too literally would back up your point but I interpreted it as her saying that absolutely anything goes so long as pregnancy is not a risk, to which I countered saying that our tribe was slightly more strict because it disallowed virtually all physical contact in case emotions got the better of a couple whom were initially refraining from the pregnancy-inducing act. I didn't say physical but it was implied, sorry. Mod note by FreelanceWizard: Text related to excised parts of the thread was removed.
-
Eh, really? I thought the laws stated that even kissing was wrong just because it could potentially lead to more?
-
That's a possible route but for our tribe personally, all other forms of intimacy are discouraged among opposite-sex individuals to prevent accidental pregnancies and people refraining from breeding out of loyalty(or whatever) to their true partner.

((This topic has been created after being split from an existing one. The original creator was Lilithium)) The nuhn is the only person whose role is polyamorous, everyone else simply must accept that he cannot greedily restrict himself to a single mate when siring more children is in the tribe's agenda. K'mih doesn't have to have a shallow form of love nor a shallow perception of love, she must simply decide if she can love the current nuhn - and if not, then not have a relationship at all. The only thing I'd recommend is for her to perhaps have an unclear idea of what love is supposed to be since it probably won't be something that is actively taught though at the same time not something hidden away. Basically, she is not told who she has to love, she is merely given a single option(until the nuhn title shifts) and it's her choice whether to accept it or not - and that is only to say if love is necessary for her or not, which understandably, you want it to be. Some women will abide by duty, others by the desire to have a child and others again out of attraction. Mod's note: This is the whole of the discussion inspired by the guide by Lilithium posted here: Polyamory: A Roleplaying Guide Please feel free to continue the discussion here, rather than in the guide itself.

Looks likes you're stuck with me as company again.... (_ _)
