1. I have this strange pet peeve where I really dislike anyone that isn't a lalafel, Godbert or Hildebrand doing the Manderville dance unless the there is a big group... then it is acceptable for everyone....! ; But otherwise yes! I love silly encounters like fat chocobos and moogle dances. I have never seen a Goobue wall though, sadly.
2. I had more than enough money for a home a long time ago, but then I started spending it on random things and every time I started making money back I found a new place to throw it all away to again... and that has happened at least three times, haha ; Anyways, I'm just going to try and help my friend locate a nice plot in Lavender Beds before they all get snatched up by [cynical]undeserving, and likely non-RPers who just want a house for some tiny novelty for the first few days and not really care that much nor use it in the long run[/cynical]. Are these subdivisions entirely new homes in the same wards then? So basically we can't (for now) get a plot that is already to be found in-game?
3. I love it when my friend asks "would you like to play?" >w< I also love it when a party member who is struggling apologises and listens to your advice. That pretty much cancels out 99.9-100% of the frustration I feel for having to repeatedly attempt a run. I love it when party/alliance members in Frontlines actually listen to and communicate with you as opposed to ignoring, arguing and flaming others. I hardly even mind if we lose badly so long as the people there tried and were nice. I loved it when party members commended my tanking in a run on the basis that it is a task that still, usually makes me nervous and self conscious. I loved it when I could add crysta with Paypal and actually play the game.
4. I kind of stopped working on my weapon at two or three books short of an Animus so I don't know exactly how the materia thing works but can someone explain to me what the speed possibilities are for a WHM? How much extra speed can they gain from stacking materia and how much of an effect can it have at best when compared to a budget attempt?
5. I agree with both of these posts personally. I always felt that teleporting was something reserved for people of significant skill/spirituality or whatever you want to call it and was of the opinion that when just anyone can use it then it's a bit of a gimmick to make RP more convenient. Though, keep in mind I am also someone who is not really in full support of casual air travel either. I don't know about that because... Level 30-50 Spoilers or thereabouts
6. Well, I need to stop reading this thread for it's lack of spoiler tags but the update looks amazing and I am looking forward to trying that top that the Roeg with the bandana is wearing for a more, simple look for my miqo'te. Also that census was very fun to look through. I am both very surprised and very happy to see that Adders have the most members. I thought that most people didn't like neither them nor the Elder Seedseer as much as the others because she wasn't cool and epic enough for their tastes, haha. Gridania is respected! o.o/
7. I try to avoid swearing unless the scene/emotion really demands it. While I do sometimes swear in real life, I don't think it's the nicest thing to hear so I don't particularly like to read much of it either. If I were trying to portray a character that is not very cultured or however you may call it, then I think I'd still manage to do so with softer, lore-friendly phrases rather than repeatedly throwing vulgarity in one's face to remind them of the fact. Having said that, there was a character I made but never played that was certainly going to be the very rude kind but I was partly thrown off with the idea of having such a horrible character interfering with my friend's kind and innocent one. I know that's a bit of a bad reason but I was OOCly protective of said character because I am a fan, hahaha ;;; Regardless and from an objective point of view, I struggle to see K'nahli swearing. It's difficult for me to imagine such crude phrases making their way into an isolated, tribal structure and becoming commonplace. As for Andre... well he is a noble whom is incredibly polite and well-tempered. He'd have to be under a lot of stress to find himself uttering a real swear.
8. This is a bad edit and an old one at that, but posting in another topic and reading an old scene has got me all hyped up so... sdfdsfsdf....... K'nahli and K'rahto @////@ Though only one-sided anyways, their love is a forbidden one, restricted by their tribal culture due to K'rahto only being a tia.
9. You know, all of these comments about PDA have gotten me very interested in imagining how K'nahli, my tribal miqo'te would react were she to witness it in Ul'dah/Thanalan. In her culture, anything of the sort is only permitted to occur between a coupled female and her chosen nuhn - and even then it's not something that is flaunted in others' faces; so simply seeing such behaviour would definitely earn her attention and then from that it would remind her of the outsiders' ways in which they possess the freedom to choose their mates. Her reaction could vary quite a bit depending on what she saw and how it happened. She could just as easily pass a discreet and persisting eye in their direction as she observed them with a shy curiosity as she could snap her head away in disgust. What would make it incredibly interesting though is that she mayyyy be in the presence of K'rahto the next time she finds herself in Ul'dah. K'rahto is a tia that has pretty much openly expressed his intense infatuation with K'nahli in the best way that a tia can without violating their tribe's ways. To quote him during the relevant scene: That scene absolutely murdered K'nahli(and me). She was incapable of perceiving herself as anything that could be viewed as attractive to the opposite sex largely due to her cold personality(though she would be very modest about her physical attributes as well) so even though some time has passed since that scene there is still a great deal of discomfort between the two... and that's while they are in or near the comforts of their own home. Visiting Ul'dah will be a horribly awkward but fun scene to play, hahaha. As a result, I am half hoping she actually witnesses something of the kind while near him just for the sake of playing with her emotions on the matter.
10. I think your own anxiety over this topic being poorly received has made you needlessly submissive ^^ To me, it looked like both PK and Lilithium were merely providing insightful feedback. I don't believe that they were offended. After all, your post was harmless. For the little it's worth though, I agree with them from the small amount I do understand about asexuality. It apparently does vary quite a lot from person to person, with many being completely repulsed by anything sexual and many others that are happy to indulge in the activity for the partner's sake. So I think you can't really be definitive when you come across that label. In response to the question... well, I'd rather not divulge in my own characters' perceptions of it because regardless of whether I say they are or are not in support in those activities I think it will undesirably bleed out relevant information about how my characters feel and respond to other issues(not even closely related, but this matter alone can tell a lot about a person) and for that reason I'd like to keep it hidden for the sake of a certain RP partner, haha. .....Well... okay I suppose I can comment on my hyur, but I'll keep it very simple. He is not opposed to the act but he is a bit of a romantic and would never engage in meaningless affairs with anyone, even with the lighter things. Oh, and as for the topic as a whole I think sexual relations can play a very, strong role in character development, absolutely. It's not really a matter of 'if' though that kind of roleplay is definitely not something I'd be comfortable in engaging with with just anyone. Fade to blacks are the only way, haha ;
11. That's how I like to envision my male hyur as he enters the climax of an epic battle (...that has yet to happen) ;w; To be honest (and this is just me), I would never use in-game skills in my RP. Rather I would just reference them and decide on my own how powerful or effective they were going to be. I highly doubt that you're supposed to assume that the in-game skills are actual and very, specific things with names. In Ruin's case, you could have many, many, many variants of it and it's strength and piercing power - as per your example - would be entirely up to your character's ability and the circumstances(eg. cast time, diminished focus, etc). The thought of people actually being limited to a very, specific, offensive spell to the point that it actually has a name just seems both amusing and restricting to me. It reminded me of this actually, haha Although, perhaps I misunderstood (^^) Sorry for the unnecessary post if so! Anyways, If you frequent battle RP then you might want to try and design your own statistics(or however you call it) or ask for help with it. It might be a fun thing to do and help be a generally, consistent guide for you. -------------------------------- To answer the OP, I like my realism when it comes to RP. I am typically thrown off by RP where the person is practically superhuman and bends the laws of physics as well as downplays the significant threat of even the lesser beasts(beast tribes aren't a threat only because they have numbers. They are competent fighters just like any soldier). Although this is largely because I and many other people don't play our characters to that level so I fear the compatibility issues it could cause. On that note, I have a related topic that I'd be curious to hear feedback on, though I am not convinced that it deserves a whole topic of its own. If anyone'd like me to remove the question then by all means let me know! I don't mean to derail or anything. ~~~~~~~~~~ Anyways, what I am curious about is.... how would or do you people who play/play with strong characters deal with the skill gap that exists between extraordinary and average warriors? How do you keep it so that the super-skilled fighter isn't tearing down the enemies and minimalizing the effect that the scene has upon normal players? I was always uncertain of the idea of someone awesome destroying twenty enemies with several swings of their axe or blowing a group asunder with powerful black magic while another two or three players are struggling against an even number of equally-skilled foes. ~~~~~~~~~~
12. K'nahli will probably fall prey to an Amalj'aa force at a time where she has little to no backup. Assuming she isn't killed in battle then she will likely attempt to take her own life as a last resort to keep herself from being tempered. I imagine that she'd have a lot of difficulty with this, obvious reasons aside, simply for the fact that she will be convinced that her sister and closer family will only remember her for her cold and hostile temperament. And so, she would almost certainly die teary-eyed, harbouring a lot of regret that no-one will ever know was possible for her to feel. Andre, assuming he never got apprehended by the Immortal Flames or affiliates, would likely die in combat. It's easily possible that we would die defending himself as he would trying to protect someone else. He's not a highly experienced fighter so being faced with three or four Ixal for example could easily prove fatal for him. Had I ever RP'd Alex then I imagine he would succumb to wounds he sustained in battle as a result of his profession. He was designed to be a powerful and highly successful bounty hunter, but a man possessed by his own arrogance. I wanted him to be a character that was both hated and feared by his foes/targets and for his own attitude to ultimately result in his own downfall. Tayo is a character whom I mostly RP'd to lightly assist with friends' plots but had I decided to have him die then I imagined him losing his life as he attempted to protect another. He's an older and experienced man, a retired mercenary(though very ethical) that just settled down to the regular lifestyle with his wife, so getting involved in combat again would only be out of a sense of duty to protect.
13. Aren't you the person that posted in another topic saying that Weaver was EXTREMELY modest, so much so that even showing her mere ankles was unthinkable(even as an exaggeration, it still feeds a lot to the point)? *amused*
14. My hyur's surname is a partial alias to help him conceal his true identity to anyone whom may accidentally stumble upon or simply happen to be aware of his origins. It is true that he hails from Ul'dah but that is generally the extent of what others know about who he is and where he grew up.
15. Cousin love is nice. If only Andre didn't do that to everyone. Oh? Fine then. With exception of Staff, then I accept these terms.
16. Absolutely this, though I had assumed this was an idea restricted to Thanalan though since you were a tribal miqo'te, OP. I would totally expect odd looks from anywhere else.
17. I think it's perfectly reasonable and I don't see why there should be so much fuss. Ul'dah is a hot country and I'm sure they see plenty of Ala Mhigan refugees who barely wear anything anyways, why should some skin be taboo? Plus, it's the home of the coliseum where near-naked participants can be found, even as NPCs outside. I'm sure people aren't that unused to coming across it though PERHAPS in places like the Quicksand or anywhere indoors it may be a bit more stand out-ish... *shrugs*
18. If you think I regret anything then you're kidding yourselves... ;;
19. Mmh ; Not according to the link on my end. Its offering me shipment methods once I click through. Actually, I simply never applied for a debit card since I had little use for one. I always did a straight transfer from my bank into Paypal and the funds in there would purchase crysta. I may have to consider it though. My sub hasn't expired yet but it will soon. Clover on the other hand has a card(not sure if debit or credit) but she is having issues with it. (Sorry to bother you all like this by the way..)
20. Do you or Clover have additional retainers or some such where you can't use the game time option? If not, if you are using an NA account, you might be able to purchase the digital game time cards (60-day) http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/en_US/pd/ThemeID.29853700/productID.296611900/categoryId.64514800/parentCategoryID.#.VDL5PcstDxM I'm not sure what that is so I assume not but in any case, those cards aren't an option for either of us sadly. I stumbled across them already while searching for a version that didn't require actually shipping a code out to you @@ Thank you anyways ^^ Anyone without the Paypal/alternate payment method for the same reason might take some solace in this: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/bec54da4ae2ffb6e8af538f9423368969ee71d38 Seemingly they are working on recovering some payment methods. Paypal will likely be one of them if they have any sense but it is not specified how long it will take.
21. Annnd now UltimatePoints have been discontinued, so I no longer have a Paypal option ; Clover might be suffering a similar fate..
22. It's best to think of the stats of how your character generally is on the whole as opposed to how they would behave towards certain people. Otherwise the stats would swing around very drastically depending on whether you're dealing with someone you love or someone you hate. Ahh, okay (^^) Not that I think I'll get involved in such plots but I was imagining being told something like "Sorry, stick with what you've got" when things would change for my character(s)' behaviour. K'nahli Yohko MUTABILITY----------- o o o o ● | ● ● ● ● o ------------FORTITUDE EMPATHY-------------- o o o o ● | ● ● ● ● o ------INDEPENDENCE INSTINCT--------------- o o ● ● ● | ● ● o o o --------------- WISDOM That was a little funny since only the middle bar changed from the example. Its definitely a simple and minimalist way of treating personality traits but still very fun to do nonetheless. K'nahli, being a tribal miqo'te, was scaled on her personality within her own family setting and considering hostile encounters in the desert(A'malj'aa etc). Her story will start seeing her having more interaction with the outside world from this point on however, so I'll make an adjusted version for the outside world since this is just for fun and I am curious! Version 2 - Outside Setting MUTABILITY----------- o o o o o | ● ● ● ● ● ------------FORTITUDE EMPATHY-------------- o o o o ● | ● ● ● ● o ------INDEPENDENCE INSTINCT--------------- o o o ● ● | ● ● ● o o --------------- WISDOM ...annnnd then finally my other character! Andre Winter MUTABILITY----------- o o o ● ● | ● ● ● o o ------------FORTITUDE EMPATHY-------------- o ● ● ● ● | ● o o o o ------INDEPENDENCE INSTINCT--------------- o o o ● ● | ● ● ● o o --------------- WISDOM Weeeee, that was fun. Thank you again!
23. Oh, actually... can you have alternating values in some cases? For instance, my character(s) would certainly show more empathy for certain people even if it is against their nature in general, or perhaps even certain circumstances... I guess its not entirely flexible but that is to be expected of such things.
24. This all looks very cool. Characters sheets or whatever are alien to me as far as I know but this seems very interesting. Perhaps in the future I will find myself preparing something similar. I'll definitely fill this out in a moment for my own characters just for the fun of it if its alright with you(I won't post it, of course... unless you'd like people to for any reason). Thank you for the topic.
