Forgive me for reviving this dead thread, as it's what inspired me to make a First character! Perhaps those of us that are interested in RPing First characters could keep in touch? Is there a linkshell for us? It might be handy.

Hm...I mean, I'm all for not supporting really "special" character concepts and leaving that for the NPCs, but it stands to reason that the people on the First exist and interact as well? I got interested in the idea due to another thread discussing it. I figure one thing to be careful of is not to have the character RP as crossing over into the Source, unless the lore introduces some way for everyone to do it. Most likely such a character would simply have to remain in the First 24/7, in terms of the RP.

This was interesting, thanks for the feedback! Didn't realize people did DMing even on MMO RP. I come from a background of NWN2/NWN1 DM'd RP, so maybe I'll have to keep my eye out for that. It does seem like great fodder for some DMing, even without having a character be part of the MSQ. Also: I giggled. Interesting...thank you! I wonder how careful I'll need to be of that if I play a character that's native to and RPed in the First....

Roleplayers of FFXIV, what do you plan to do once the expansion drops? What have you done in the past? I'm curious if folks focus on finishing the MSQ before roleplaying, try to roleplay through it, etc!

It also makes me wonder what became of the male Viera on the First. Perhaps they remained with the forests to the end, went down with the ship so to speak. Perhaps some are sin eaters now? Additionally, I'd be up for a Linkshell (likely a small one) if anyone else is interested in coordinating First characters.

Re: Balmung - Ah, gotcha! It might be cool to gather up folks who plan on having First-native characters? Not decided yet but the idea is intriguing me the more I think about it, so...probably me too. Something that's interesting to me about Eulmore is it was mentioned....somewhere...that people had come there knowing the world was doomed and choosing to hide from it in a last bout of luxury. And you look at it, and it really does seem like a last party kind of town, the way the banners are thrown up and everything is set up. I'm reminded of those Black Death parties. You bring up an interesting point about how people are reacting to the Sin Eaters. I imagine it might be similar to how people in the Source react to Primals? (Alita movie spoilers below)

That's...an interesting thought. I'd considered it but tossed the idea out because I figured other RPers wouldn't approve. I haven't RPed in FFXIV yet, been holding out for them to add Viera. Now that they're confirmed, I've got some time to slowly figure out and decide on my character. We've gotten hints as to what the culture of The First is like, though, and it absolutely fascinates me! Such a hopeless world, it reminds me in some ways of the Nier universe as well as our own troubles these days. It seems like the lore around Eulmore and Lake(forget the second part) are pretty straightforward with some room for creativity. I will give it some thought! Shame we're on different servers though.

Hello there! I've been RPing and playing MMORPGs for a long, long time, but never at the same time! I've mostly RP'd in Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 communities since I was a wee babby teenager, and got into MMOs with Ragnarok Online, FFXI, and Guild Wars. I very briefly did some RP on GW2 with some NWN2 friends but it fizzled out pretty quickly. I've wanted to try RPing on FFXIV for years, but always had better RP prospects elsewhere. I feel like it's finally time to give it a try, especially now that Viera may be the new playable race. I have some time until they make it official whether or not Viera will be playable, but I can hardly RP my existing character and then have her suddenly become a Viera! So for now I intend to bide my time, absorb lore and the community and hopefully find people to RP with once the news is out. If it's not Viera...well, darn. I'll still RP. I'm already in an FC, so I'm curious if there are any OOC linkshell communities on Balmung who would welcome a future roleplayer? A few other things about myself to share per the welcome template!: - My headcannon for my main has always been a struggling private investigator, and I'll be translating that into RP once the Viera question is settled. - I am a hardcore RPer on NWN2, but will probably be a little more medium once I start RPing as I do want to play the rest of the content! My RP style is more mundane, and I love getting into the heads of my characters and exploring their vulnerabilities. - I work in the game industry and my hobbies include...uh, games. - I have a cat and a parrot (conure). The conure likes to stomp on my keyboard... Anyway, well met and hoping I can eventually find a home for my future Viera/not-Viera private investigator!
