  1. Sounds awesome! I know I'm debating to IC give Brave a reason to learn about a sword and board. Maybe I can see its effectiveness in a "Gladiator" match Sio has room for mooooar apprentices. O_O Or at least sparring mates. She does love to fight male Roegadyn. Easy wins. Though I suppose realistically that'd have to wait until she's less sickly. Is he a sword+boarder or does he specialize in something else currently? Right now he's a Warrior. Ideally the character would use a Greatsword or his fists for now I have to settle with a Greataxe lol. The idea was to have him leave his village and try to be a force for good. A promise he made to his now decease wife. I kmow its pretty gary stu but I've also really over simplified it >< I was on page 22 (question 53 I think) of my 100 questions when my compy died so I've pretty much been forum lurking and chatting with my guildies who are probably getting close to their first 50's by now /sigh I miss FFXIV Keeping it simple is key when you're aiming to develop! And Sio's a force for good (for nao). She can totally help a sea-brother out! I just feel so bad for you. What would I do without my computer?! Die, perhaps. Well, I guess that'd be more likely if I ordered my groceries through the interwebz. ...We have chickens here. But I'd die of boredom. Is there a class that uses claymores yet? I've seen some pretty long swords but they're always one-handers. Freaks me out after WoW. Well they don't have classes that use claymores yet but rumor is that it will be dark knight. Personally I hope they go runic knight like Celes but I doubt that will happen. I just know that Brave uses a greatsword and as soon as it is available I'll be in line to make it happen. As for computer woes its not too bad. I still have ps3 and crunchy roll/netflix will keep me entertained in the mean time. I do want to rp something bad though ><
  2. Well at least it's being fixed. We look forward to seeing you when you come back! Q.Q *puts forth a prayer for your computer's wellness* There will be many tournaments assuming Sylas doesn't asplode everything in my absence. Sounds awesome! 4. Well someone told me that graphics cards work better over a slow fire so I was like "duh" clearly fire+90% of most things equals amazing. All kidding aside it seemed to be going through a slow death but its under warranty and under repair atm lol. I'll be back soonish just not sure when /sigh
  5. /sigh This sounded like so much fun. I finally manage to transfer servers and then wind up with a fried motherboard. Hope everyone had a sound thrashing and worthy opponents!
  6. sigh... Thank you all for the quick responses at least. Guess that means I'll be playing FFXIII till the compy is fixed. So I'll just channel some happy hopeless romantic feels And maybe something that could happen in FFXIII: Lightning Returns... (Probably NSFW)
  7. Does anyone know if I have to buy the PS3 copy of the game in order to play it on my PS3? Or can I download it onto my HDD (like other titles) since I own a PC copy? I'm going to have to send my laptop to get repaired and would still like to play FFXIV but not if I have to buy another copy. (Lol I may be slightly impatient but I'm not that impatient)
  8. Hopeless Romantics unite sir. It was a wonderful read, and I liked the song choice. =)
  9. I love the fact that someone took the time to gather us all in one place, and keeping so many people organized is no easy task. I remember when a friend gave me the link to this site. He wanted me to get into the game and as soon as I saw the content and people involved here I was sold. I'm also fairly new, but I did want to say thank you. The few times I've seen you in action you've handled things well and VERY professionally. Thank you for all you've done. =)
  10. Brave Warden - Roegadyn (Hellsguard) OOC I love this! IC I think that his late wife would have put his name on the list as a way to get him to interact more >< ROFL
  11. I'll be joining the Balmung kids soon once server transfers hit. I know me and a few of my guildies from another game are looking for some communities to be a part of. We're definitely Night Owls though >< so here's to hoping we run into a few of you =)
  12. I'm going to second Tobias here with the wig cap recommendation/bobby pins. They're pretty great =P Also do you have someone to apply the henna tattoo for you. Doing it yourself will probably hella tricky >< Previous cosplay issues I've heard horror stories about are not giving it enough to dry or accidentally smearing it etc. I knew someone doing an FMA cosplay where they didn't allow enough time and completely botched all the hard work of the artist. =/ Anyway glad to hear your cosplay is still coming together well! When you're a girl cosplaying a boy, Androgynous is the best kind of compliment.
  13. So I know some people have been looking forward to this: http://www.craveonline.com/gaming/articles/584745-ffxiv-a-realm-reborn-server-transfer-date-set-in-stone According to this anyway, it would seem that server transfers will be on October 15th They'll be free for 5 days =)
  14. *thumbs up* The contacts look great!
  15. I'd recommend perusing the linkshell area as well as just seeing if there are characters who you think would be interesting to RP with. A lot of us took what we could get server wise at first because things filled up crazy fast >< I can say that the Gilgamesh community has been awesome. They're really friendly and helpful and the OOC channel that Rock/Amaare has set up is just great. It really lets you find the other interesting RP folk easily. In regards to Balmung, I have noticed some real interesting characters over there and it obviously has Legacy characters around too. Meeting with the Veterans of the game has always been something I thought would be interesting to do. I know I couldn't pull my guildie over to Gilgamesh because he found a great LGBT LS group on Balmung. So really I'd strongly recommend looking at the LS section and just mingling like you already have been. To bring things back into the costume aspect of this post though, have you discussed what you'll cosplay at the Con you're going to? Planning early is great, and to Echo Torn Sky, couples cosplay is adorable ><
  16. I can relate to barely playing lately too >< I had a 51 hour work week this week. Thankfully I can access the forum while at work and it isn't shunned =D But I can't play games. So it's like... torturing myself >< lol Some guildies of mine (who joined the game AFTER I did -.-) went to Balmung though and are trying to rope me over there. I might go there just because it seems Gilgamesh events seem to be mostly on Weekends and I don't ever get to go to them /sigh Either way, the community here is great! Conventions are AWESOME! And so is cosplaying =P
  17. Conventions are a blast! More importantly a lot of what you're doing now is pretty much the basis of getting any cosplay together. Doing research, talking to other people in the "hobby" and when all else fails, trying your own hand at making something. I'm glad to see all of your stuff is coming along. I was going to point out that they do make a type of paper that lets you print a design, then apply it cloth. One of my friends did this to get some of the Scott Pilgrim t-shirt design she wanted. It's not as permanent as one would like after washing but for a costume it's almost perfect! I don't know how well it would take to a stocking or stretchy material though... so I wasn't sure if it was worth suggesting =/ ANYWAY make sure to put up pics! It will be great to see your hard work in action =D
  18. I want the class that lets me use a greatsword. This MORE then anything >< Other then that a lot of the things people brought up are things I'd echo. *ponders* Class specific limit breaks would be nice. That way Pugilists don't whip out buster swords because they think it would be cool to disregard all their punchy training =P Let's see... Maybe a crafting profession that had us dabble into magitech stuff? I think it would be nice to see Cid encouraging his new home to adopt the technology for good. =P All the other changes are just icing on the cake =)
  19. Okay not TECHNICALLY an anime, but still regardless! And why does EVERYONE hate Mako!? I like Mako. It gives people such beautiful, vibrant eye colour. Mako, With Mako, in a Mako, on a Mako... Mako-ception!!!! Seriously though... I just finished Attack on Titan as well and could really use a new series to get into. I enjoy anime like: Berserk, Record of Lodoss War, Fate Stay/Zero, Kenichi, Fist of the North Star, Haruhi Suzumiya, School Rumble (don't judge me -.-), and DuRaRaRa. There are others I've seen but these are the ones that I can remember off the top of my head that left me thinking "Wow... that was awesome"
  20. Geez what a great thread! I have this issue from time to time when playing with other people too but as I've role-played more I've noticed that you need to have a diverse mix. The whole saying that "A hero is only as good as his villain" is totally true. Many of the characters you described have a "foil" in the group that helps exemplify just how heroic a person is. Another thing I'd like to point out is many of the same feelings your having now about feeling like there aren't enough good people in the world are felt by these characters as they go through the story. Parn from record of Lodoss war is viewed as naive. Kenichi from Histories Mightiest disciple is also viewed as naive. Shiro from Fate Stay Night is often having his ideals hammered into him as ridiculous Snow Villiers is often viewed as an idiot for wanting to be the hero who saves the day. It's hard to be good. It SHOULD be hard to be good. (Even when an 'anti hero' does something bad for the sake of good, you'll see conflict over if he did the right thing) I know I'm echoing a lot of the points already made, but I just want to encourage you. A story with a wide variety of people to interact with is a good thing. When you do find people who have similar beliefs or ideals to your own, RP with them and become friends. When you have conflict with others over how to do things, that's kinda normal, and expected. Anyway, great thread. this was a fun read.
  21. Rhuarc is also a male Roegadyn! Big, manly, paladin tank, don't see why its not the most prominent race. Most likely because they look ridiculous - their proportions are very off and typically the 'big' races tend to be designed to appeal to the sort of player that enjoys overcompensating. It was the same with orcs and tauren in WoW - very few people played them and yet many of those that did seemed to think that 'dey da best lol so much biger an strong den every1 else lol xDDDD'. Masculinity is also not linked directly to size, especially when excessive proportions are concerned. While I know that masculinity isn't linked to bicep size, that doesn't make Roegadyn men a less than awesome race. They have plenty of admirable qualities. I rolled a Highlander at first, but when I saw how small the Roe population was, I felt that I'd be able to do one justice and race changed as soon as possible. Even holding off my RP in the game till I could introduce myself as one. ANYROAD I agree with Sio... lets try to get the Roegadyn female love back on track
  22. E1QMlBwjIDE So this song I feel is just an over all great Brave song >< But I'm also a sucker for Chronicles of the Heroic Knight =P OBk3ynRbtsw And this song is just Brave being mopey about Sanguine ><0jx-hsKfRg0 This is sort of a persistence song. I'd liken it to hearing the Incredible Hulk ending theme from the 80s >.>8TzCLpgbJ_g And I would rather have a more "classical" themed fight song for Brave >< But I just can't get past the lyrics of this song.
  23. I'm glad your costume is coming together nicely! I keep checking to see if I have anything to give advice wise... but uh... This convo has clearly gone into territory I have no knowledge of rofl
  24. /sage nod Well said ma'am. Well said!
  25. Character Name:Brave Wardain Hells/Sea?:Hellsguard IC but actual race is Seawolf Gender:Male Timezone:EST Looking for?:RP Server:Gilgamesh (although some guildies are trying to pull me to Balmung) Post a link to wiki if you have one beneath. I don't have it yet, but I do have a snippet of my 100 questions. Here's a preview. Also I reference the Echo giving him a vision of the past. So it might get a little tricky to read... but the people I've shown it too tell me that I differentiate between the vision and the reality good enough. There is also a bit of an introduction to explain "who" is asking the questions. I'll just let the entry explain >< (Also apparently the forum doesn't take to copy paste from word well... it seemed to not include a lot of my "spaces" between words. I went back through to try and catch them but there may be some I missed) Brave Warden sighed as he looked over the axe head he forged earlier that morning. The room he was in was small especially for a Roegadyn, with sparse furnishings and a small film of dust in areas that didn’t see much interaction. Behind him on a table was a mostly finished supper consisting of unpolished brown rice, and a thick cut eft steak with gravy over it. Beside the meal is an unsealed envelope with a letter waiting to be placed inside. The Roegadyn kept looking at it… then finally walked over and picked up the small packet of parchments, almost instantaneously a vision from the Echo was revealed to him and he put the paper down. “I don’t want to look at this…” He turned around quickly attempting to flee the thing that caused him such dread. Unfortunately it became apparent he wouldn’t have a choice, as he saw a familiar woman sitting down on a stump holding the very same stack of papers he had just placed down. In front of her was a past version of himself, swinging an Axe in a repeated motion. Brave sighed as he watched the scene play out… muttering to himself quietly. “Okay… you win.” The woman snickered as she ignored the unseen audience while watching the Roedagyn continue his practice. “This is important Brave. If you’re going to be a Mercenary or just a part of any standing militia they need to know what they’re getting.” The vision swung again then looked over at the female Helsguard with slight disdain. “I don’t think any Militia or client for that matter would need to know about some of the things you’re going to ask…” Brave kept looking at the two of them with a bittersweet expression on his face. “No… they don’t need to know it at all.” The woman waved him off dismissively “Brave Warden, you’re name alone will not fill in the gaps of what you’re capable of. That’s why your lovable and far more eloquent mate will regale them with tales of your gallantry!” The vision of himself seemed to sigh at almost the same time he did as he spoke. “Sanguine Song… I’m pretty sure you’re too far into your cups to be telling any kind of story. Besides, I’ve seen some of those questions. This is just another one of your ploys to get me to be more sociable with people in Limsa Lominsa.” The woman balked at him as she dipped her pen into her ink well and gave him a stern look. “Then I’ll just fill them in for you.” The image of himself let out a groan that was probably his best attempt of defiance at this point, as he embedded his axe into the ground and sat down in front of her… defeated. “Okay okay… ask your questions” She grinned as she began:
