  1. I don't see any problem here, Buttlander is a perfectly valid term for inferior Hyur Midders.
  2. Kudos to Restless Wind (I don't even know if s/he's here on the RPC) for some wonderful conversations in the QS and at the recent date auction event. I'm hoping we can catch up again soon. To mah Aeon homies for some awesomely exciting recent RP. To the folks over in Coral for Leilani's nameday bash. And to Shaelen, Gharen and Dogberry for being their fine, sexy selves. And also for some sweet recent RP and stuff. Y'know.
  3. BANNED FOR NOT QUENCHING YOUR THIRST /sprite Banned for reminding me of Gatorade. Banned for having a username which reminds me of Salad Fingers and makes me feel instantly weird and creeped out.
  4. Banned for NOT making people kiss. Banned for being a badass bitch.
  5. It's fine, Lord Rythiel Rothmoore redeemed us. Banned for pairing with a cat. Letting the master race down, indeed! Banned because... :cactuar:.. Yup that's the reason and I'm sticking to it. And I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for that damned Cactuar.

  7. Banned for being dirty Garlean scum. FIGHT THE MAN
  8. I have a search macro I use and I add their names to it, I then check every so often. However, the miss rate is higher than the hit rate. Then when you spot someone there is still the chance that neither is available. At least I can send them a tell and a friendly word of we can't get the RP to suit. So even with the best will it can be low. I would also applaud people intent to RP, it shows that there is a willingness to do so and even of only a few make it to the RP it i still welcoming and positive. I don't suppose I could bother you for a copy of that macro?
  9. I definitely think that new RPers should ideally try to meet experienced RPers half way when it comes to establishing themselves in a new RP setting. That said, I think sometimes it's easy for confident RPers to overlook that not everyone possesses their confidence, and breaking into new communities can be tougher for some people / character types than it is for others. Some people just have terrible luck and try to break in, but don't get any response from the crowd. So for me, the idea of the list of 'volunteer mentors' or whatever, isn't about encouraging dependence, but rather throwing a lifeline to give people a way in which they can work from.
  10. Character Name: Brynhilde Wulf Character Type: Female, Highlander Hyur, Ala Mhigan. Cool, amiable, assertive, dignified. Availability Day(s) of the Week: All week. Time(s) of the Day: UK time zone. Usually from 1PM EST to 8PM EST. Frequent Locations: Ul'dah, the Goblet, Limsa Lominsa, hanging out at a pretty spot in the wilds somewhere.
  11. I really miss mentor flags. Then again I also really miss just running around La Theine or whatever and just buffing/ressing everyone I saw. That said, I worry about applying something like that to RP as I am sure there are folks who might worry that it could end up becoming a way to police RP. Welcome committee sounds kind of cool. I wonder if that could be like a regular thing? Every few weeks or whatever, have volunteers set up a casual event somewhere and invite folks over. However I wonder how that might reach folks who might not be on the RPC? Would all the city-states be represented? What about time zones? That is, could this be something done for EU RPers as well? We could always utilise /shout and party finder to advertise these events.
  12. I'll have you know that I'm a bloody huge RP server. I serve the RPs all the time. Huff.
  13. I was literally just talking about the RPC with friends in Skype. I don't think I'd be alone in saying that there's been some toxicity on the forums lately, some hostility, arguments and defensiveness. Whatever, it's the internet. But we're fortunate to have the RPC. Without the RPC, there'd be no role-playing servers. Without RP servers, our experience of Eorzea as Role-players would be a lot quieter and far more lonely. I personally have found the RPC to be a wonderful and priceless tool for finding and improving RP and making connections (love dat wiki u guiz srsly), which is why I'm happy to pay for its upkeep over on the Patreon drive. I'm a strong believer in community. I've been on both ends of the MMO-RP spectrum before; being in a lonely little RP LS in a game innately hostile to RP (FFXI), and being in an RP guild on a official RP server (WoW). In these cases there either wasn't an RP community, or the RP community had no wider organisation. Compared to our situation on Balmung at least, both sucked. I can honestly say that my time on Balmung has been the happiest, most fun and fruitful experience I have had with RP in MMOs, and that's due in no small part to the RPC. Basically, I think it's obvious that we get the community we work for. I can't speak for Gilgamesh, but as I've said, I think Balmung is wonderful. But there's always ways to improve. To do that, we've got to pull together. Let's not forget that SE isn't making official RP servers any time soon; they never had any intention to do so. We're pretty much on our own. But Balmung and Gilg are the RP servers because we decided we were going to make them the RP servers. That was us, pulling together. Anyway, the point that I'm trying to make in this TL;DR post, I guess, is that I've been feeling for a while that we as RPers could do a lot more to really strengthen our communities in ways that would benefit all of us. In particular I'd like to see efforts toward: 1) Encouraging greater inter-FC RP, and 2) Helping both those new to our servers / new to RP settle in and become part of our communities.
  14. Bryn also cuddles her 'Bo, Astridr, kisses her beak and does pet/baby voice with her. You know, "You're so pretty! Yes you are! Yesss you are! Who's my beautiful girl?" etc etc, ad nauseam. Romance novels. Bryn has so many romance novels. The smutty kind. If you're a Roe or Highlander, you can bet Bryn is checking you out. Bryn has been known to steal items of clothing belonging to people she loves, as a keepsake. She might also cuddle up to them at night. Maybe. She carves little animal talismans for those she cares about. Caligraphy. Singing. When she's having a really rough time, she retreats into herself and disappears for a few days. In those days she drinks and takes drugs. She'll emerge eventually no worse for wear before getting right back to work, but she'll never ever let anyone see her like that.
  15. For Bryn it's... Gharen Wolfsong : Highlander, Ala Mhigan, muscular, covered in scars and honourable? He's the whole package. Too bad about the age difference... And the fact that Bryn thinks Gharen's too good for her. Dogberry Himalspyr : It's... Complicated. She thinks he's sexy as all hells, but Gods does she find him infuriating. She doesn't get him. At all. But that doesn't stop her liking him, and that bothers her. Rythiel Rothmoore : Beard. Steel Wolf : Big badass fem!Roe with as much sass as she has strength. Bryn enjoys their banter and empathises with Steel's past trials. Leanna Vist : She's gorgeous and graceful. Tiergan Vashir : TELL NO-ONE.
  16. Bryn was shipping Aya and Dogberry the other week and she got mad at Dogberry for it.
  17. Relationship status: It's complicated. I think we can safely upgrade Brave's relationship status to hella complicated. Brave Horizon : Bravely Going Straight to the Dog house. *sigh* I guess Dogberry's going to have to share... Wanting to share is what landed him there in the first place! Dog is definitely in the dog house. Suddenly the phrase makes sense.
  18. o rly. Because a little 'Bo told me something about Steel and Brave Horizon... Relationship status: It's complicated. I think we can safely upgrade Brave's relationship status to hella complicated. Brave Horizon : Bravely Going Straight to the Dog house.
  19. o rly. Because a little 'Bo told me something about Steel and Brave Horizon...
  20. The stockpile of ceruleum grenades Bryn has collected over the last few moons are absolutely not connected in any way to any rematch Bryn may or may not have been looking forward to for some time. Nope.
  21. Yessss a celebration of hunks. I'm sad it's so late in the evening, but Bryn wouldn't miss this.
